While in NYC, at Chelsea Market there is a candy store that sells hard to find candy. My husband loves Clark bars & we found them there. With the high price & a November expiration date, we bought a couple. He tried to eat one & it was so hard that he was afraid it would break a tooth. When we returned home from our trip, I reached out to Boyer, took photos of the wrapper, exp. date, etc. & sent it to them. I was told someone would contact me. They never did. I reached out again & received a reply that the inside LOOKED flaky so it was fine. You've got to be kidding me. This is the way a candy company responds. No wonder stores all stopped stocking Clark Bars. If this is all the better the company is at standing behind their product, it's no wonder! read more

We stopped into the Boyer Candy Company and absolutely loved it. There's a parking lot right next door which makes things super easy, and the front has a welcoming, well-lit sign that draws you in. The staff are some of the kindest people we met on our trip. The shelves were fully stocked with all kinds of classic treats. We saw a s'mores kit made with Mallo Cups that looked perfect for a campfire night. We ended up going with a big coffee cup filled with full-size candies, and the cashier even threw in two free Mallo Cups. Such a fun and memorable stop--definitely one of the highlights of our trip. read more

You can get the freshest mellocups you will ever have here. Staff is always very helpful and friendly.

Cheap sweets and lots of em! You can really cash in on your bang for buck. They have factory imperfections that are perfectly delicious and half the cost. Come here for the family, the neighbors, the whole block! It's fantastic... read more

Had to stop here because the partner is obsessed with Mallo Cups, which doesn't make sense to me - I think it's a generational thing. Anyhow, we stopped here in Altoona and the shop is pretty good - lots of options to get MCs, but they also have Clark-related stuff. Pricing is very reasonable, and obviously cheaper than the store. There is an offering for "seconds" of most of the candy - but for the MCs you'd need to step to 5-lb box, so you better be a true aficionado. The lady working was so friendly and talkative, answering a ton of questions we had, giving us advice on what to buy. Interior reminded me of a company store in a factory, exactly what it was. There were a small handful of historical pictures and mascot stuff, if that's your thing as well. We ended up buying several forms of candy, and also a corny-as-hell tree ornament, which will adorn our mini-tree in the winter. Probably an essential experience in Altoona. read more

Boyer's candies is an awesome place to stop and pick up fresh and reasonably priced candy made by the factory next door. I love Mallo cups, a soft cream instead with hints of coconut coated in a delicious chocolate exterior. If you stop, try the Clark cups, rich peanut butter combined with a subtle crunchy core surrounded by their milky signature chocolate. Trust me, this company's chocolate far surpasses the better known "other" chocolate company in PA. You won't think you're eating a chocolate flavored candle while munching down on a Boyer's candy. In addition to the candy tasting amazing, kudos to the person that took my phone call live and accommodated my request. We were headed to the Pittsburgh area and wanted to stop by but traffic and an accident meant I was going to arrive about 5mins too late to get to the store before they closed. We explained that it's a 4hr drive one way and asked if they would mind keeping the store open for 5mins longer and they did just for us. Great candy and good people. Thank you! read more

I went into their store and saw a great big box with Clark bars, written on it and bought two of them since I couldn't get them anywhere else. Problem was when I got home they're not Clark bars their clock peanut some things. The Clark was real big, but whatever else was written in there was small and as a result, I didn't see it. My fault maybe because I'm old. I was really looking forward to getting some Clark bars. I haven't tried the clock cups yet. I hope they're OK. Since I bought $50 worth of them. I live in Indiana, so I can't really just go back to the store and return them. read more

Fun find as we drove across the state. This is the home of the Clark Bar and Mallo Cups. We bought a variety of items to try including all the mallo cup flavors plus some imperfects (which are the bars too ugly to wrap up and sell but still delicious). Person behind the counter was friendly and helped explain all the flavors and options. Prices are great and make for a nice treat. read more

Super friendly customer service and delicious, fun and nostalgic candy. Definitely worth stopping in!

The Boyer Candy Company has been in business since the Great Depression. Perhaps their most famous candy is the Mallo Cup, which is a chocolate-covered marshmallow. They also sell Clark candy bars, peanut butter cups, and butterscotch smoothie cups as well as chocolate-covered pretzels and plain chocolates in holiday shapes. I wanted to buy only a small amount of each of their main products, so I picked out a mug that was filled with one of each candy for $11. At the cash register, an employee talked on the phone for maybe five minutes before he hung up, said hello to my husband and me, and rung up our one item. He explained that he was on the phone with his manager, but the discussion seemed to be complaining rather than important business. I think that he should have said hello to us when he was still on the phone and quickly wrapped up his phone call. My husband called the topic of the phone call "gossip" and was ready to walk out of the store! At home, I ate the candies, and they tasted just as good as I remember them from my childhood. read more

This was a fun little stop to take with my nephew in tow. After striking out with what we did beforehand he kind of enjoyed himself in here. Just so you know when you come here you are not going to have a true candy store experience. This is only for candy made by the Boyer Candy Company. With that, if you are in love with the Mallo Cup, Smoothie, or the once made in Pittsburgh Clark Bar then this is the place for you. Every size combination of packaging is available for purchase. And surprisingly at a decent price. The store area is rather small, so don't expect that this will take you all day to get through. In fact it is a great, quick stop that can serve as a distraction in a mundane day. Other things for purchase in here are items that have the company logos on them. Toys seem to be a good thing here. My nephew is obsessed with trucks and of course we walked out of there with one of them. read more

I love the Jimmy Sticks and dark chocolate mallo cups. I like to get the rejects from the store. This last time, I should have got something other than the rejects. Everything was stuck together and melted together. I couldn't eat any of it. But this is something you risk when you get the rejected. The store is quite small. I do wish it was bigger. Whoever is working in the store is always friendly and helpful. read more

Prior to visiting I've only ever tried the mallow cups. I haven't even hear of any of the other varieties of candy they make. While traveling through Altoona I saw the factory advertised several times all over therefore decided to stop and visit. I expected it to be a bit different. The store was very small and the service wasn't the best. The girl working was very miserable, especially when I asked if they have a public restroom. I thought maybe they would offer tours so you can see the candy being made and learn about the history. Neither of that was provided. The only thing I found helpful about visiting is to buy discounted candy they make. Not somewhere I'd visit again. read more

One of my top three favorite candies, located in Downtown Altoona PA. Took the longer way home, last weekend to pick up the chocolate yummy mello cups straight from the factory. Boyer Candies is bringing back the Clark Bar heavenly delicate chocolate with a crunch. Friendly, pleasant, cheerful staff... Purchased a 5 lb bag of rejects mello cups for 12.99 ,that yes they do sale that are perfectly fine, Jimmie Sticks and Clark bars. The shop is smaller with something for everyone..If your a fan of Mello Cups, Jimmy sticks or soon to be released Clark bars its worth the trip if your in the area. read more

You may think you've tried a Mallo Cup, but if you haven't eaten one that's factory fresh, then the sad truth is that you haven't. Much like beer, Mallo Cups start declining the moment they roll off the production line. What could possibly happen to a chocolate cup filled with whipped marshmallow creme? Believe it or not, but the creme center thickens up and becomes more of a solid than a liquid. Liquid? Oh yes! When they are fresh the whipped creme center of the Mallo Cup is a thick, luxurious, runny confection. It's delightful, and as far as I'm concerned, the only reason to buy these candies. Once you've had the real deal, an old Mallo Cup is hardly worth eating. At the factory you can also buy two pound buckets of the whipped creme. I couldn't resist. Although I'm a little bit terrified of my new purchase, and haven't opened the tub yet. Can I live at that speed? Only time will tell. read more

Boyer Candy - So many Mallo Cups. - Candy Stores Near Me - Altoona, Pennsylvania

As a Pittsburgh-area native, I've grown up eating Mallo cups. But wow, fresh from the factory ones are the best I've ever had. We just happened to see a billboard ad for the factory on I 80. We weren't in a rush, so we decided to stop. The factory store isn't huge, but there's plenty of goodies there. You can buy Mallo Cups, Clark bars and peanut butter cups in bulk. There are seconds, or damaged ones, for super cheap, and they even have tubs of the Mallo Cup filling if you feel the need to make your own. There's also t-shirts, mugs, and plush toys to suit all of your non sweet tooth needs. They also have had dark chocolate Mallos that I've never seen in stores, but THEY ARE THE BEST. Another fun fact: Boyer's supposedly created the original peanut butter cup, too, which I hadn't realized until recently. So those Reese's are simply a knockoff of the OG. It's totally worth the roadside stop. Stretch your legs and pick up way more chocolate than you need! read more

Boyer Candy - Mallo Pals - Candy Stores Near Me - Altoona, Pennsylvania

You must try Altoona's local candy! Definitely worth a quick stop to try these local candies! It's a small store with a selection of *only* the Blair candies, which is just a handful of brands. I f you don't know the brands: Mallo Cup - creamy marshmallow center with chocolate in a cup, looks like a Reeses peanut butter cup. Also a dark chocolate version Jimmie Stix - pretzels covered in peanut butter and then covered in chocolate - unique Smoothies - yet another "cup" candy with a peanut butter filling and a butterscotch candy coating. What?!? Peanut Butter Cups - just like Reese's They purchased the Clark brand and plan to make and sell Clark bars at some point. Clark is another historic PA brand. read more

I'm so glad a childhood favorite treat is still around! I so enjoy the smoothies & mallow-cups. .

I believe i like the Reese peanut butter cup better. The Boyer ones seem to have less peanut butter, and are not as tasty.

The Boyer brothers invented the peanut butter cup decades before Reeses. The quality of Boyer cup candy is a level above anything the major manufacturers are producing. They make a Resses cup taste like crap. There is a reason the Boyer company is the only US candy manufacturer showing year to year 20% growth in an otherwise declining industry. It's worth placing a large online order and paying for express shipping. Once you eat your first Mallow cup you'll be hooked for life. Clark bar fans must order the Clark cups they are still working out the kinks of candy bar production and are presently making Clark bars in cup form. The taste and crunch texture is spot on perfect vs the defunct former producer. read more

Boyer Candy - Boyer Candy - Candy Stores Near Me - Altoona, Pennsylvania

Home of the Mallow Cup! This store alone gave me renewed faith in Altoona and it's culinary impact on Central PA. Has a small town feel-- the staff are friendly, and business rolls in and out. Seems like everyone stops by this store on a Saturday... These famous candies, along with peanut butter pretzels, chocolate covered graham pretzels, peanut butter smoothies (butterscotch covering), dark chocolate mallow cups and peanut butter cups, are available for bulk sale in the factory store. You can get a 1.5 lbs box of factory rejects for $3.25 or $4.45 for dark chocolate. Definitely made my day much better when we stopped by here and I sampled all of the different chocolaty treats and things I should keep myself away from... and then ended up buying several boxes to continue in bad fashion on the hour drive home... Open during the week and Sat until 4 pm. :-) read more

if you are in altoona, you should stop here, at least once. it's not a long stop, and if you don't know their candy, some of it is pretty good. It's not great, it's not the best in the world (which is why I think they are local, mostly), and if you don't like coconut with chocolate, there is less for you than if you do. also, keep in mind that the factory rejects are rejects for a reason. I found that the packages aren't always closed or complete, although the candy is ok. I also found candy not in the stores or at least not candy I'd seen before, which was interesting. they also have things like broken pretzels in a big box (check that the bag is sealed, if you can. parking is across the street in a lot. worth at least once if you don't know them, and I think we will go back! read more

Completely unacceptable experience with this company. Won't purchase product from them ever again.

Shipping & handling is totally a rip off. I grew up eating their products but just went to order some and it blew me away! $14.95 for mallow cups and the S&H is $16.33!!!! I am shipping from Pa. to Ky., not overseas or Cali but two states away. The bigger box of mallow cups cost $24.99 with the S&H of $17.26. I will not be buying any candy from here again. I could literally buy them here from the store that use to carry them for the same price without S&H that they charge, .85 a bar times 24 for $20.40 a box. Less than $6 for them to buy it, ship it and display it. Never again. read more

I was visiting Pennsylvania from Los Angeles this past July. A trip to the Boyer outlet store was an absolute MUST, and it didn't disappoint! I made out a like a bandit with a sack full of candy for all of my friends back home for less than $15, and it was all a hit! My favorite is the Mallow Cup, of course, but I am also partial to the Peanut Butter-Butterscotch Smoothies and the Peanut Butter Cups, and the chocolate-covered pretzel rods! I'll definitely be visiting this place whenever I'm in town! read more

I stop here every time I visit Altoona. Boyer is well known for their Mallo Cups, which are great. But my favorites include the Peanut Butter Cups, Dark Chocolate Mallo Cups, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzels. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are a joke after trying Boyers, trust me! The factory also sells what they call "rejects". "Rejects" are a great way to get a ton of Mallo Cups for a great deal. read more
