Very cool old school chocolatier in Tyrone, and a real institution in Central PA. Great candy options, including their famous peanut butter meltaways. Our service was very nice and helpful. They also have a nice little candy factory museum. Definitely worth a visit if you're a fellow candy fan!

It's been a few years since I've been there, but everything seems exactly the same. A very nice spot to stop at when touring this little town. Actually, I'd say, "a must!". All kinds of delicious chocolates/candies (boxed, different shapes and flavors, non-chocolate candies, a s some nostalgic candies I haven't seen in years can be found here). Went home with a few types of chocolates, and we sat down as we ordered ice cream from their back parlor. Many, many flavors of that wonderful cream delight. I had a cup of a cookie dough ice cream that contained fine chips of chocolate. Can't recall the other two flavors my friends had ( see photo), but we all agreed that the treats were delicious! Oh! And portions are large (picture of a single scoop in each cup, normally a large at most other places) The interior is sweet and bright, clean and welcoming. The staff is efficient, helpful and friendly. Kudos for being a big part of a little home town Pennsylvanian, and keeping up the business for all these years. It's great to find these valuable gems like this still today. (Aside from this, they even have a little museum there to explore as part of their display area). The only thing about the business that I would do is add some out side seating for customers, especially on beautiful days like we had yesterday. Also, I'd be sure to get more advertising out, especially on billboards, local tourist books, road signs, etc. Since there are millions of travelers going by on highways during State College home games, as well as tons of other events, this place is a good mine for tons more business!

I recently participated in Georgie Lou's Retro Candy's 6th Annual Sweetheart Stroll, and while this…read moremay have been their sixth time hosting it, it was my first time even hearing about it. I immediately corrected that mistake by buying a ticket the moment I saw the event posted--and then started counting down the days. The concept alone sold me: a ticketed, adults-focused stroll through downtown Carlisle, with participating small businesses offering tastings, experiences, treats, and deals. Sweethearts of all kinds were welcome--couples, besties, gal pals--and dressing in red and pink for Valentine's vibes was strongly encouraged. Say less. Ticketing was super easy, and Georgie Lou's did a fantastic job with pre-event communication, especially via social media. One post in particular deserves a shout-out: a reminder to bring a bag to carry your treats. This is something I absolutely would not have thought about until I was awkwardly shoving sweet treats into my coat pockets. I came prepared with a small reusable shopping bag (pink, obviously), and by the end of the stroll it was completely full of sweets, trinkets, and purchases. Meanwhile, others were struggling with overflowing pockets alongside gloves, hats, maps, and life regrets. Lesson learned. Excellent advice! I found parking around 1pm and headed to Georgie Lou's to check in and grab my materials. The staff were incredibly friendly, checked my name off the list, and sent me on my way with a Map of Hearts, a button identifying me as an official 2026 Sweetheart Stroller, and a small sweet treat to kick things off. I also took some time to explore the shop itself--my first visit--and wow! They have managed to pack an impressive amount of nostalgic goodness into a small space. Total blasts from the past, plus candies I'd never seen before. Super fun shop! From there, the stroll itself was a delight. Georgie Lou's clearly put a lot of care into coordinating participating businesses, and it showed. Most spots offered sweet treats, discounts, or special offerings, but every single business was warm, welcoming, and happy to have folks stopping in. Even though I've done a few downtown Carlisle walk-style events before, I still discovered shops I'd never been in--and every purchase I made that day was from a place I was visiting for the first time. That alone feels like a win. Overall, this was a fantastic way to spend a few hours on a very chilly January Saturday. It got me out of the house, walking downtown, supporting local businesses, and discovering gems I usually zoom past while driving from Point A to Point B. I had such a great time that I jokingly asked if I could pre-register for next year... apparently that's "not a thing yet." Fine. I'll wait. :) This has officially been added to my annual tradition list. Great event, great execution, great vibes. Well done, Georgie Lou's!

We needed something to do, and Mr. Ed's came up in a Yelp search. I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow!! There is sooooo much to see - it was a bit overwhelming. We walked the garden and enjoyed all of the flowers, adorned trees and "sculptures", outside. Never, in my life, have I thought about buying or collecting elephant memorabilia- after walking through the museum, the idea doesn't seem crazy. The candy available for purchase, brought back fond childhood memories! I was thrilled to be able to share many of my childhood favorites with the kids. The fudge? Oh my gosh!!! So many delicious flavors. The warm, spiced cashews filled the place with heavenly scent. I challenge you to leave without buying several things. Definitely recommend. It was so much fun.

Like homemade fudge and vintage candy? You're in luck. Everywhere you look there are elephants! The smell of the store is heaven for any chocolate lover. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with the sights and smells of candy and sweets. They have fudge, truffles, corn nuts, vintage candies, unique candies, crickets, you name it! Would be a great place to grab items for a sweet gift basket. They sell mugs and you can fill them with candy and they spruce it up and make it cute. Like most other vintage candy stores, you can fill a bucket and pay by the pound ($7.99 per pound). The staff were very very friendly and helpful. We got a decent variety of their homemade chocolate items, vintage candy, fudge, and even some socks! You can explore the grounds around the building and see all the cute and kitschy yard decor. Stop by the pond and see how many frogs you can count. We spotted over 20! We nibbled on some of the chocolate covered animal crackers on the ride home and they were delicious. Check it out even if just for the thousands of elephants!
