James Moving was truly a pleasure to work with. I called them a week before we needed to move, right up against the holidays. They were able to meet our schedule and did so at a decent price. The team of four showed up on time and completed the move under the estimate, despite working through the pouring rain all day. Our new home is three stories with a few tight turns and staircases and they had no trouble with any of it. They even went to extra lengths to protect the hardwood floors I had just refinished. It was very convenient for me to schedule my move - we did everything over the phone. Their pricing is clear and upfront. On moving day, three workers with a large truck arrived at the time promised. They got right to work and kept moving until the job was done! All of my belongings were handled with care. The home I moved out of had old hardwood floors throughout, including the steps, and they did not make any marks or scratches on the floors or walls. One more (big) thing: the guys who came to help me move were very courteous, helpful, and respectful. Besides the usual moving-day stress, this was a somewhat emotional move for me, downsizing after a loved one passed away around a year ago. I found James Moving Co on Angie's List, where they were rated number one moving company in Pittsburgh (with 47 people reporting...keep in mind that the second rated moving company only had 5 reports). I called them and told them what I needed and received a quote and they were unbelievably helpful and friendly on the phone. I called the next ten rated moving companies in Pittsburgh from Angie's List to get quotes and James Moving Company's quote came in below every single one of theirs. I called James Moving Company back and again was greeted with helpfulness and friendliness that I can honestly say I have never in my life experienced before from a customer service representative. They also don't require a credit card deposit or even number to secure the reservation - she actually said and I quote "we trust you" (whereas the person at Two Men and a Truck continued to ask me for my credit card number even though I told her I was just shopping around). James Moving Company has not actually moved my stuff yet but with all of the rave reviews on Angie's List I don't foresee a problem. Once they move me, I will update this entry but I was so blown away by the customer service I had to write something now. I'm actually excited to work with them; ask yourself the last time you said that about a service provider. We previously moved with a different company and were very wary of movers as a result. Our concerns could not have been more appeased by Gardner moving. Joe, who did our appraisal, was extremely friendly and courteous. The estimate he provided was very fair. Our movers arrived promptly at 8:30am and had practically emptied our entire 3 story town home by 9:30am. They were completely done by 12:30 that day, 3 hours under our estimated time. Our furniture and belongings were treated with the utmost respect. Nothing was even remotely damaged, the walls were not dinged in even one spot, and they movers themselves was SO friendly and SO extremely quick. These guys were some of the nicest people I think I've ever met, and their help allowed our family to get moved into our new home with plenty of time to unpack and get ready for Christmas. I've moved 7 times in the last 14 years (mostly houses, not apartments), so have had a pretty decent cross-section sample of movers. Gardner, by far, has been the best of all. Courteous, professional, great prices and stand behind their work. I opted for a $500 deductible insurance coverage and had one issue with an item whose repair/replacement was well under that figure. I have high praise for this moving company because I needed some things moved within my house. I had my hardwood floors refinished and needed the furniture and rugs moved back into the rooms. Many companies did not want to take on such a small job. Actually one of them referred me to Gardner Moving. When I called them, Mike G. said it would not be problem and sent two guys that did a meticulous job and for a reasonable rate. They were extremely careful with my refinished floors and very careful with my furniture and grandfather clock. They also did not mind working around my schedule. They just moved my home today. My old place was an apartment in an old converted victorian 3 story house. Very difficult narrow stairs with 38 steps. My new place was a 2 story with basement. I hired a 3 man crew and they moved my entire apartment in 4 hours, that's 3 hours less than the estimate. I had to be at work and my retired father supervised the movers. It was terrific not having to take a day off work for this and knowing my dad didn't have to lift a finger and being able to pay with a credit card over the phone. I was so grateful I bought pizza for the guys!! I will definitely recommend them to anyone moving and use them again read more

If you're looking for the best local movers in the city you found them. They are professional movers and I have 0 complaints with them. They arrived on time as scheduled. They packed all my items for me (which I loved). I was only moving across the River and they made my move as easy as possible. After unpacking my boxes I found that there were no damages. I've moved around the country quite a bit and out of all the moving services I used I have to say that James Moving Co is a top notch moving company. I couldn't be happier with their moving services. I suggest giving them a try if you're looking for an easy move that is cost efficient. They won't have any hidden fees either, which I really did appreciate. I engaged the services of Gardner Moving in October, 2014, and I am still trying to recover from the experience. I was moving from a larger apartment to a smaller apartment, and had not moved for several years. With the help of a couple of friends, we boxed up as much of my belongings as possible. The movers arrived on a Saturday morning (apparently with the goal of getting out as quickly as possible). They said nothing to me as they quickly went around and gathered up boxes and furniture. As they were attempting to leave, I had to point out a couple of tables and chests of drawers that they 'forgot' to move onto the truck. The crew quickly got into the truck, with the final statement that "anything not boxed won't be moved" and headed on their way to the new apartment. As I looked around, I noticed a pile of wires in the middle of the LR floor(in the old apartment)-it was the wires and DVD player belonging to the TV. When I asked why they didn't take that in the move-they said-"well, it wasn't in a box!"(they hadn't bothered to mention that to me before they left). Then I went into the bedroom and found jewelry and books spread all over the floor. Again, "they weren't in boxes!" was all they had to say. (I still don't have the jewelry sorted out-such a big tangled mess!) In the new apartment, the movers just put everything wherever they thought it would fit, then ran out and said they were done. (They never bothered to ask me where I would like things placed). When I went back to the old apartment, there were pictures (wall pictures) that they had left behind-(well of course, they weren't in boxes!) I have never seen such a shoddy case done by "professional" movers in my life. I had to call another mover to complete the job-the difference was remarkable; the second group of movers were so professional! Please don't use Gardner movers if you can avoid it!
