Yellowstone Gateway Inn - This was the view. Dirt road and limited parking. Unsafe area

The room included a full kitchen, which was a huge plus and gave us everything we needed during our stay. The location is excellent--right in town and close to restaurants, shops, and the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. One of the highlights was seeing a moose walking through the neighborhood, which made the experience even more memorable. The heating and air conditioning worked perfectly, keeping the room comfortable regardless of the weather outside. Overall, Yellowstone Gateway Inn was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and in a fantastic location. We would definitely stay here again.

Fireplace was nice. Not so good. The accessibility to the entrance was awkward. Went down a street that was more like a dirt alley. Pretty pricy for what was obviously the off season, at least in my view; $300 range with additional pet fee. The unacceptable. The room was filthy. Floors clearly had not been cleaned in some time. Black pet hair all over the unit. Just because we have pets doesn't mean we don't want a clean unit and we certainly paid extra for that. We ended up going to the store for cleaning supplies to clean the counters, table tops etc.. See the picture. Absolutely unacceptable at any price. It was so bad we were concerned whether our linen had been changed. Too bad, because it otherwise would have been a pretty nice place. UPDATED 10/18/26 - a final positive note. My wife heard from the management as she responded to a direct request from them to provide feedback. They apologized; said that they will take this information to housekeeping; provided a partial credit. Genuinely seemed to be concerned about the feedback on our stay.

Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel - Fancy looking bathroom but looks can be deceiving

It is all about location, location, location right. With that being said I am reviewing the actual hotel. When you enter you immediately get the feeling that everything has been newly renovated. It looks fancy. The front desk staff was extremely friendly. One was even spot on with her suggestion of where we should have dinner that night. I was appreciative of her kindness and top notch dinner referral. We made our way to our room and I was again struck by the outward elegance of the room. It also looked newly renovated. The kind size bed was comfortable and I appreciated that they had hypoallergenic bedding for my husband and his allergies. That night I would have given the hotel 5 stars, but fast forward to our alarm going off at 4:30am to get ready for our day. I unpacked and placed all my shower toiletries in the shower. I stepped in the shower, and then I turned on the shower. The water was cold, but I thought well I have to let it warm up. I waited, standing cold, in the shower, half wet, waiting and waiting. The shower never turned warm. I did not shower that morning. I had to dry all my toiletries off and repack them. I think is a heck of a lot to pay at Mammoth Hot Springs to not have hot water. Again, if I could have had a comfortable shower that morning it would have been 5 stars.

At first, I was a little stunned and didn't know how to react, but the staff was super kind and told us about some of the animals in the room. He was very knowledgable about all of the different animals and was really excited to tell us about some of them. The room was nice and clean. It's a bit of an older building with an older AC and strange layout, but it did the job. We were one of the first people to stay after the COVID-19 closure, so it was very quiet. It seemed as though we were the only other people staying there! We did laundry at this hotel and it went by without a hitch. The front desk carries quarters, detergent, softener, and dryer sheets! It costs around $3 for a wash and dry and takes around an hour and a half. Definitely worth it! Overall, this was a great stay! The staff is very nice and it's a great place to stop for a night close to Yellowstone.

The staff was helpful and they are back to a regular breakfast. The rooms are full of rustic log furniture. The ice machine was only working on the first floor. The laundry is a plus. Centrally located for doing just about everything there is to do here and the elk frequently eat the grass nearby.
