We chose to stay at this cottage in Gardiner while in Yellowstone for a few of many reasons. Reason 1: After driving almost 20 hours (including stops), we didn't want to have to worry about setting up a campsite. Reason 2: We wanted a nice shower every night and a campsite wouldn't have been able to justify that. Reason 3: We knew we were gonna be tired after enjoying the park everyday, so we wanted to get a good night's sleep. Everything from check-in, location, and the room, was just what we needed. Check-in was seamless. We stayed in the Wolf Den, which was right underneath the office. It comfortably accommodates four people (two in the bedroom and one in the living room for a sofa pull out bed). The bonus from this place was their patio that was available to us right along the riverbed, in addition to the small patio that we already had. We felt so comfortable staying here and loved that it was minutes from the North entrance. I would definitely stay here again when coming to Yellowstone! read more

Me and my husband stayed here while visiting Yellowstone . It's a great place to stay. It was clean, plenty of room, full kitchen, it's decorated rustic. I read a couple reviews that were not favorable but when I come back to Yellowstone this is where we staying. We were lucky enough to see wildlife close to our cottage. You have a lot of choices in that little town for hotels or B&B's. We chose Yellowstone Riverside Cottages from the reviews and the location. (Riverside) We were very glad we picked this place. The rooms are well appointed, and very very clean. The place is getting up there in years, but they've done a good job of updating the rooms. You'll have everything you need. Hotplates, microwaves, fridge, and tv. Our ONLY complaint is that the beds are only queen size. Other then that, we highly recommend! read more

This is the best Airbnb I've ever booked for a vacation like this - I was just extremely pleased with my stay. I personally thought James was very nice, and any other staff I ran into was just the same. Check-in was too easy, and we stayed in the Moose Cottage (so right next door to the front office). Check-in hours are generous. The place was IMMACULATELY clean. The kitchen was extremely well stocked so my husband made meals every day. Our unit did not have an oven or stove but did have an electric cooktop. I knew this from doing research before booking but if you want a full-full kitchen make sure that's what you're looking at! The water was always hot when needed and the shower and showerhead were nice. Bed was very comfortable, linens soft, pillows fluffy. Perfect after long days at the park. The assigned parking spot is right next to the unit you're staying in and a lot of units don't share walls. There were a lot of windows for fresh air and lights had dimmers. Tables and nightstands next to the bed had USB and 110V outlets built in. Heater and AC worked flawlessly. Lots of little touches like coat hooks and a binder with information inside the unit. There was a flat screen TV with cable. (We watched the playoff hockey games at night the week we stayed.) Wi-Fi works just fine. Super close to the north entrance of Yellowstone, and walkable to so many restaurants as well as the Gardiner Market for anything else you might need. Outside, there's a deck with lots of stairs leading down to the river, and it is so peaceful. I did notice that there's not a phone number for communicating that way, but I am tech savvy and prefer to do everything online anyway, and I did not have any problems with Airbnb. I would recommend booking through the site or the app. Either way, I'd stay here over and over again! read more

This is by far the best view of the park and the town of Gardiner. (Which I think is the best entrance to Yellowstone) The cottages are located walking distance away from some other small eateries, whitewater rafting, and also walkable to downtown (shops,bars,gift shops etc) Gardiner. The owners are great and extremely courteous. The rooms are clean and sheets and towels are super fresh. My family loved our 5 nights here and would highly recommend this place. read more

Location was ideal for a visit to Yellowstone Nat'l Park, just a few minutes from the North Gate. Check in was simple; desk service was friendly and welcoming; parking was straightforward; and our room was pretty and clean. It was too cold out to enjoy the huge communal patio deck overlooking the river, but I sure bet it's a bonus on a sunshiney day. I should note that our room was quite small, but they do very clearly state the square footage in their listings, so pay attention if that's an issue for you. Without all our snowboard gear, it would've been perfect. We happily accepted the sacrifice of space to have the mini kitchen w/mic, fridge, plates, utensils, and Keurig. With coffee. Yay! read more

Great. Stay here. Gardiner MT is a tourist trap of epic magnitude. The food is terrible, prices high, and tourists a plenty. Want a break from that? Stay here. Front desk staff is super friendly and so helpful. Cabins are clean, kitchens are furnished and the view is terrific. Best part? Housekeeping must've noticed that we brought our own coffee with us, because when we returned from the park, there was a traditional coffee maker and filters waiting in our kitchen. Thanks for that! Very cute place right outside of Yellowstone NP at the Gardiner entrance! We stayed on the street side but there's rooms right over the water. Only stayed here for a short time as we needed a place to sleep but the main doctor our day was spent in Yellowstone. The staff here was very friendly and recommended a few restaurants down the street to check out. This place is very centrally located but also a great view of the river in the back. Comfortable beds and a fridge are in the room when you are ready to kick back. Would absolutely recommend this place and I'd check it out again next time we decide to visit. read more

Worst, most disrespectful customer service ever! I never write negative reviews. You have to work really hard to get me to the point that I'll actually take the time to write a negative review. But James at Yellowstone Riverside Cabins accomplished that. He should be fired. Go to any other hotel, there's several to choose from. Because if something happens that's out of your control (Yellowstone gate closures, a car accident....death...) they will show their true colors. And it's not pretty. They are unbelievably rude, disrespectful and aggressive. It's not even about the $112 at this point. Check out what they did... During our 5 week trip, my, we wanted to see Yellowstone. We scheduled for 3 days in West Yellowstone and 1 day in Gardiner before heading to Bozeman. However, 3 days before going, the West Yellowstone entrance was closed. Our hotel in West Yellowstone alerted us and was very accommodating. They let us cancel while waiving cancellation fees for all three days. So we decided to try to stay the extra 3 days in Gardiner. This was close to the only open gate and we already had a one night reservation at Yellowstone Riverside Cottages - YRC.) I called YRC several times. No one ever answered and no voicemail option. I was beginning to wonder if the booking was a scam. Since I booked all of our hotels and rentals through my Expedia account, I called them. The agent said the dates I needed weren't available online for YRC, but he would call them to see if anything opened up that wasn't online. He tried several times and had the same experience (no answer, no vm.) So, he suggested a different hotel (the Absaroka Lodge) who could accommodate all of our dates. He booked the room for us. We're there now and they've been awesome! I reached out to YRC via the Expedia app (since they weren't answering their phones) and I explained the situation. Albeit, by this point, I had spent about 2 hours going through this and gave a very brief explanation that the Yellowstone gates had been closed leading to a change in our plans. I asked if they would consider waiving the cancellation fee (fully not expecting that they would, because it was only 3 days from our dates, but I wanted to at least ask.) That's when I had the unfortunate experience of communicating with James....wow... James' first response was a canned, standard response (you're cancelling after our 14 day window and therefore you won't receive any refund and will be charged the full rate.) Fine. But I did want to take the time to explain that the entrance had been closed at our current location and we were originally looking to extend our stay with them. However no one would answer the phone for us OR the Expedia agent, so he booked another location who could accommodate our new dates. That's why I was making the request. This is where things turned for the worst. James basically called me a liar! He said he looked at their incoming calls and nothing from my area code came in. He also said that they speak with Expedia all the time and they knew his phone number. He accused me of changing my story to try to get my money back and said they would not be issuing a refund if I cancelled! That's when I got angry. It wasn't about losing the $112.00. We've been traveling for 5 weeks and that was insignificant. This jerk basically called me a liar! So I offered to take a screenshot of my outgoing call log and email it to him. Then I suggested he call Expedia to ask if this had taken place with my reservation as I know they take notes and have recorded call logs. Again, at this point it wasn't about the money. Instead of responding with an email so I could send the screenshot or calling Expedia, he again inferred that I was a liar and said "if you cancel you will not receive a refund." Okay. That's not a problem and is justified with my 3 day cancellation (regardless of the park gates being closed to visitors.) I knew the rules when I booked. Fortunately the hotel in West Yellowstone was 50 times better because we would have lost a lot of money there. However, James at YRC doesn't get to treat me like that and call me a liar without some consequences. So at a minimum I'm going to warn the public about what to expect from you in the event that there's any unforeseen issues. As long as James is employed there, this place should be off your list of potential places to stay. And know that if you do book with them, and something out of your control happens, you'll be met with, not only a lack of caring, but a rude, harsh, judgmental demeanor. Thank God I hadn't booked with them for a week!! Go ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

Plenty of shampoo & LARGE towels for our group of 6. Rooms are within walking distance of everything in town. Heat and air worked fine. This place was amazing! We were upgraded to a two story cottage with a deck looking out over the Yellowstone river. It was amazing. The cottage was modern. The stone shower was nice. They had a fully stocked kitchenette which was very convenient and housekeeping did the dishes (heaven on earth after hiking all day at Yellowstone.) Our toddler loved his own loft upstairs with a tv. There was a comfy couch inside where you still had an amazing view when it was cold out. Even the bed downstairs was positioned so you could wake up with stunning views. We were in heaven!! read more

The view of the river, the town and part of Yellowstone make this a place great. We stayed here as the guests of Yellowstone Safari Company and are planning to return. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. It's cute, quaint and has a beautiful view. Not to mention Eddie was wonderful at check in. So if you want friendly customer service and aren't particular about cleanliness, then this place is five stars all the way. We stayed in the Trout efficiency and at first glance it is really cute. However, we discovered the following problems: The entire cabin had the distinct smell of mildew. The main areas of the room were clean(ie sink, toilet, shower, fridge). However, the walls, door and linens were gross. The inside of the door was black with dirt. There was some nastiness dripped down the walls, and the bath mat still had someone else's feet prints on it. The cute tile work around the sink was poorly done, and had started to fall off the walls. The shower head had corroded almost all the way through, and I was just waiting for it to hit me in the head while taking a shower. All in all, with a little TLC this place has five star potential. read more

Me And a three of my girlfriends got together here for a long overture get away. We were playing cards and laughing and were told we had to go to bed..... we are all over 50 years old! The next morning we were rudely told that we had to leave! We drove over 250 miles to get there and wILL NEVER stay there again! We were actually called names along with cuss words. When we got here we were surprised by how cute the cottages were! Perfect for our family. The patio over looking the river was a pleasant place to sit and have a drink with my husband. We did find black mold in the shower. When checking out, I told the gal about it and she offered nothing. For $300/night I would expect no mold. The fact that I told her and she didn't offer to make it right, really peeved me. Otherwise the place was wonderful. read more

The cottages are fantastic! The efficiency we stayed in (Trout Efficiency #4) was absolutely adorable! They have tile floors, clean stand-up showers, a coffee maker and coffee in the room along with a mini-fridge and satellite TV (if you require TV when visiting Yellowstone for some reason). The owners Eddie & Laura are great as well. If you require ease of access, the efficiencies are ground-level (no stairs). There is also a stair access to the Yellowstone River which flows right outside your front door. Within walking distance are a couple of decent restaurants (Outlaws Pizza & Yellowstone Mine) along with a grocery store. Next door is a whitewater rafting company as well. Whew, I think that is just about everything! I hope you will say here with Eddie & Laura and help support independently owned business! read more

Hey - This place is awesome. Our "Moose" Cottage was a tiny little cottage with no common walls, perfect Wifi and DirecTV, plus a reserved parking space right by the door. It was also immaculate. There was absolutely no street noise, even though our cottage backed up to the main drag through town. Way too cold to worry about the AC, but the heater worked like a charm. Husband loved the hot tub, but it was just too long of a walk in the cold for me. Best of all were Eddie and Laura. We hired private guides for Yellowstone who cancelled at the last minute. Eddie and Laura provided us with a great place to stay, and that's all that we paid for. But they also gave us suggestions and tips for our days in the Park that truly saved our trip. read more

Great friendly place to stay while exploring the north section of Yellowstone Park. We just spent all of February here, driving daily to Lamar Valley , photographing wildlife, watching wolves through spotting scopes, and xc skiing. Monthly rates are very reasonable for a furnished cabin with all utensils. A big plus is the outdoor hot tub overlooking the Yellowstone River and mountains. This was my 2nd most horrible travel experience in 50+ yrs of traveling throughout the world. Checking in late @ Riverside Cottages in Gardiner, MT, we were greeted by the owner, Edie Cox, who informed us that he & his wife were from TX. Rather than simply hand us the keys to our 'cottage,' he gave us a thorough walking tour of his property, entering our room & showing us how to use the Dish TV remote, informing us about the wildlife that frequent their property, etc. He was very proud of how well they were doing & informed us of how many potential customers they turn away each night. My first impression was this guy was a bit over-bearing when all we wanted to do was get showered & go to bed, but thought, well, perhaps this was simply TX hospitality in MT. That is, until the nightmare began. My husband & I had spent a long day photographing Yellowstone Park. We were sunburned & very tired. I was 2nd to hop into the shower & soaking wet when the water went cold. Yes, I was miffed, as any of you would have been, after paying $140 for the room. So after taking my cold shower, drying off, & trying to get warm whilst watching the bogus outcome of the Casey Anthony trial on TV, I got up to dry my hair & there was no dryer in the room. So, I reluctantly called the owner at 10 pm, ask him how he justified charging $140 for a room that was unable to deliver two consecutive hot showers, & requested a hair dryer. He immediately became defensive & shouted into the phone, "I haven't had a complaint in 6 years! I don't care who you are, nobody talks to me like that! Why didn't you just call me and I would have come down to fix the hot water! (I guess I was supposed to have hopped out of the shower soaking wet, find his phone #, & meet him at the door naked) - I'll refund your money and you can get out of here!" First, I didn't appreciate being completely disregarded as though my complaint was invalid by his thoughtless reply, "nobody else has ever complained!" Frankly, I consider such a statement irrelevant. Rather than simply apologize, act in a civil manner, & have his wife deliver a blow dryer, this guy goes off on me! Then the nightmare escalates by this large looming man coming to our room, insisting on entering to see if the water was hot, while I am standing there in a nightie with my husband already in bed half asleep!!! Upon entering the room, the owner insists on us packing up our things & getting out stating, "Do you have any idea how many times I could have rented this room tonight?!" Here I am, 5'1" tall, facing off with a very intimidating 6'4" man who is verbally assaulting me because he refused to believe his 'cottage' didn't have enough hot water, apparently offended that I would dare raise a complaint! I was in no way rude, just succinct & to the point, so it's not like I was cursing him out or using inappropriate language! My husband, who is older than me, wasn't about to hop up out of bed in his underwear, face off with an irrational mad man, escalate the situation, & end up in the hospital. So there I was holding my own, a woman of nearly 60 years old, being bullied by the owner! He was so out of control that I honestly felt threatened as he shouted at me. Enter wife, Laura Cox, with the blow dryer going back to the shower with her hubby, turning on the shower to test the temperature of the water as though neither of them believed me! It is now 30 min. since I was in the shower, so I said, "the water heater may have recovered by now." The hulk spun on his spurs & again repeated we had to get out immediately! I refused to back down telling him we had no place to go out in the middle of nowhere when lodging near Yellowstone was booked solid. He didn't care one iota & kept insisting on refunding our money while attempting to throw us out. I told him we were too tired to go anywhere, would NOT vacate the room, but would instead call the local sheriff. Believe me, this nightmare is exactly depicted as it happened - or should I call it a night terror?! 30 minutes later, around 10:45 pm, when my hair is dry & I am ready to collapse into bed, the hulk came back to our 'cottage' informing us he had found us a room at the Gardiner Comfort Inn & he would transfer our funds. I repeated, with a very stern tone, that we were too tired to pack up our things & move & would remain in our room for the night. Just as I am about to call 911 for help, he walked off saying, "I hope you are able to sleep tonight!" Well, guess what, after such a shocking & abusive experience, I was UNable to sleep at all because I was so distraught! Our grand journey from AZ through UT, ID, WY, MT was greatly diminished by this travel terror that traumatized me & left me ill from lack of rest. The moral of this story is: Don't dare step out of line at Riverside Cottages or the owner may toss you into the Yellowstone River or feed you to the foraging bears & you may never be heard from again. Avoid the Wild-life in Gardiner! read more
