Stumbled upon this location and was amazed. The first staff member I talked to to ask about lavendar flowers was super friendly and knowledgeable. However, the second staff member I talked to was standoffish and condescending when I was asking them questions about a particular plant they were selling. Even if not buying anything in particular, this is a great place to take a stroll in and admire all the different plants that are available. And although the store is somewhat small, there's alot of selection available. The prices are a tad high compared to other stores, but some plants were on sale so those weren't too badly priced. The store does free plant transplanting if a pot is purchased. read more

They have gone out of their way to find a plant I wanted.... to the point they checked all their locations found one on Vancouver Island and had it brought over for me. I highly recommend this business - they have always been great to deal with and their staff is very knowledgeable. read more

You know I am not quite old or rich enough to be a full-time gardener but... First time here. This place is huge. Anything you can think of plant wise, you will like find it here. Anything from plants, pots, tools to clothing to fancy garden boots, yes they probably have it. Would definitely comeback to explore more. read more

We brought our friends to this café -- we've come here many times before and always chose this place. Two of us sat at a table for four while the others were placing their order, and instead of normal customer service, a staff member came over and spoke to us in a bossy, dismissive way, telling us to leave the table. It felt rude, embarrassing, and completely unnecessary. If the policy is "first come, first serve," staff should be trained to communicate it respectfully. With prices that are not cheap, the service should be much better -- and even the variety of food is not great to begin with. Instead of investing in proper customer care or creating a clear system -- like having someone manage seating or using a wait-list -- they choose to handle situations in a way that makes guests feel unwelcome. There are plenty of outdoor tables as well; insulating that area could easily improve the flow instead of pushing customers away. We've been regular customers for years, but after today, we will think twice before coming again. Customer service is the foundation of any business -- and if this is how they treat guests, it's hard to imagine keeping loyal customers for long. read more

This was my first time buying plants and therefore I was unsure of what to order. Cheryl stepped in and helped me choose everything I needed to make a beautiful planter. Thank you Cheryl. read more

There are no chairs in the fitting rooms. I shop here a lot + the staff are lovely, so I asked what was going on. I'm a senior w/some spinal issues which are very painful. The staff advised that the management don't want any chairs provided for customers AT ALL! The only chairs are ones for sale. That's the WORST customer service!!! I had to ask for a chair today + a lovely staffer brought one. It was a godsend. WTH kind of store doesn't want their senior customers as happy as all the able bodied? I'm not crippled enough for a walker, but do need to rest at times from the pain. Chairs are cheap, customers s/b valued. read more

Normally if you pay a higher price you expect higher quality, not the case here, I bought a plant as soonest I took it home the flowers started falling off, ok sometimes is normal if the location is changed but once all the flowers were gone the leaves started falling off, took it back I got a million excuses for it but they couldn't give me another one because I'm not a member and even though I had my visa statement it wasn't the actual receipt he said, he also implied that i didn't know how to take care of it, I have 40 year old plants here and there still doing great read more

This location seems to be less crowded than the other location. I came here mid day (~3pm) weekend on a sunny day and there are still a lot of parking left. I quite like their store design as it's easier to look for things. read more

Love shopping here, the staff are always cheerful and welcoming and happy to lend a hand or ask a question. I ddon't mind paying a little extra for the experience frankly. I can't recommend this store highly enough. There is a good selection of plants and crafts etc. You owe it to yourself to treat yourself just don't expect 5 star service 5 minutes before closing.....duh! :] But seriously, for a nice break drop in and support the store, and your community for that matter. No this is not a paid review and no I don't work there, lol. Just think the folks there deserve a shout out. read more

Their houseplants are quite expensive in comparison to other places such as Walmart and Home Depot, however, I do believe they're healthier. Occasionally, the houseplants I buy from Home Depot are infested with bugs, overwatered, or damaged from transport. There are a few houseplants I saw that were reasonably priced, such as the pink polka dot plant with a cute pink plastic pot. I also love their pot options! I bought quite a few during their discount days :) read more

Just wanted to update and highlight the great staff and service I have received in all my recent visits! Everybody is so friendly and knowledgable. I had asked to be put on a waitlist for a particular plant and when I had missed their initial calls, they made several attempts to ensure that I was notified that it was now available. Also want to give a special shout-out to Alex at the information desk for patiently answering all our questions on plant care and providing such awesome tips and advice. As a newbie to gardening, Gardenworks has really made my gardening journey a positive one :) read more

Garden works are scam artists, I bought a few plants weeks ago and the cashier told me after paying for the plants that I could return any of them if sick or dying and replace them. I took her word for it and came back today to return two sick plants that they sold me, to my big surprise they told me that they could not honoured their return policy because there was a fine print at the bottom of my receipt saying that if you live in a certain zone of the vancouver city you will not get any returns. My question is why they didn't told me that or asking me where I live before I did purchases the plants, the answer is simple, scam sale pitch to get you to buy more plants without telling you about their zone policy. Bottom line, they will sale you many sick plants and will lie to you at the cash register when purchasing plants. Will never put my feet in that store ever again :( read more

Love this Garden Works! Both this one on Lougheed and the one down by Boundary in Burnaby have excellent staff who work there. Very knowledgable and you can definitely they tell they love what they do. I went looking for one thing but ended up learning so much while being helped I came out with a ton of plants. Great customer service as well, they ensure your plants grow and will take returns if they don't. Thank you to Alan from this location for all your recommendations, it made for such a wonderful plant shopping experience. read more

When my begonias made it to the second week....ALIVE... I thought, hells yeah I can do gardening. Sunshine usually brings out the wannabe gardeners in everyone anyway. Armed with feistiness and vigour, I walked confidently into Gardenworks. I was ready to give birth to the herb garden of my dreams, the way I nursed my begonias like a child. In fact, I think I may have found the best substitute for children and pets. I've found something that doesn't talk back, make noises or poop! Every single one of the staff I talked to were very helpful. They all know their shit is all I can say. I came out with miniature roses, a snapdragon plant, basil, rosemary, thyme, bay leaf, mint and a kalanchoe plant. I was readying myself for a very expensive bill but it all came to $33 with taxes. Awesome! read more

Have never left a poor review before. We visited Gardenworks recently as we have many times over the years with our 2 small dogs, this day in particular for my mothers birthday brunch. After 20 min waiting in line we were told by an employee that dogs were not allowed in the 'cafe area', only in store. When asked to specify where the 'cafe area' was, i.e., interior/exterior/line food areas, the employee could not distinguish and ultimately asked us to leave our place in line (without offering for us to place orders to go as an alternative, etc). As we have brought our dogs here for food in prior years & Gardenworks exterior signs still say "all dogs welcome - please don't leave your dogs in a hot car" - this was misleading and Gardenworks needs to specify if they have updated specific rules as this is not at all obvious. It was an unfortunate and awkward situation where other patrons came to our defence speaking to employees, despite us deciding to leave and no longer even wanting to order food here. Very disappointing as we are long time Gardenworks members and nearby residents. read more

My favourite place to visit when I need retail therapy. I've frequented this location for many years and am continually impressed with the variety and quality of plants. Their staff are exceedingly courteous and helpful. The seasonal displays are creative and inspiring, and the gift shop is a treasure trove of well-curated beautiful objects. My garden is full of perennials purchased from Gardenworks and if I have questions or problems they go out of their way to assist. read more

Best Christmas tree selection hands down around Burnaby. Usually their trees are nicely hung and easy to look at and pick. Many different types and sizes to choose from! Prices are reasonable and staffs are helpful in helping out making your life easier (since lugging around a huge 7ft tree isn't all thy fun). I've recently stopped tending to my garden so I haven't been into gardenworks much, but back in the day it was my go-to place for everything garden related! Lots of staffs on floor and everything is neatly organized so it's not hard to find what you're looking for (unlike other garden centers, cough cough). read more

Bar none, GardenWorks is the best gardening store in the land, just for the selection of plants and range of gardening products alone. This one on Lougheed Highway is huge, with a back lot full of trees, flowers, perennials, and seasonal plants to wander through. I usually make a pilgrimage in the spring to get plants and soil for my balcony garden, but GardenWorks is also excellent for natural Christmas decorations. You can find dwarf potted trees, holly branches, and cedar boughs, as well as cute decorations for them, or lovely indoor tropical plants and cacti if you'd rather pretend to live in Florida. The mini cacti gardens make great housewarming gifts. Damn those convenient shopping carts. It's kind of like IKEA - you can spend a lot of money in here even if you came in for just one lil' thing. read more

Looking for a Star Jasmine, I asked Lee where they were to save me from a long hunt. She found them right away but they were to big for my needs so I thanked her and continued on. Well, Lee found another, smaller Jasmine and tracked me down to show me. It was perfect but it was planted in a pot with other plants so Lee offered to dig it up and plant it in the pot I was buying. Lee was super helpful and did a great job with the planting. My Jasmine is happy on my deck. I'll shop here again. read more

This store is like a wonderland adventure for garden lovers. Mr J and I had young ones with us at Christmas time and bought our tree from here. The selection was almost too good because there were so many sizes and species to choose from. In the spring (now) they have almost every variety of fruit tree/rose/bulb you can imagine. This week we were there buying seeds and soil to start a deck garden. One gentleman I spoke with was extremely helpful and made a lot of recommendations, another staff member helped us find seeds, soil, and discussed with us (quite knowledgeably) what would be best to start planting now, what could be planted indoors etc. The only cons I would say is that from my perspective the store is layed out in a very aesthetically pleasing way, but it isn't always practical. The staff there aren't always easy to spot (most who work outside wear black jackets which can only be identified from behind) so it can take some time to find someone, and even longer to find someone that knows enough about whatever it is you're trying to do to make a recommendation. Solid 4 stars. I'm going to be here a lot this summer! read more

Lots and lots of plants! Lots and lots of staff! Only complaint is that to put lots and lots of plants in there... it made some of the aisles a little narrow for the carts to get down. I hope my basil does well... I live on the stuff! :D read more

My husband came here to find a calamondin plant but they didn't receive any this season. Instead, he was able to pick up some pepper plants and another small one to take home to calgary. The staff seemed friendly according to him, so I'd definitely wanna check it out again when we're in town next. read more

Gardenworks is a fantastic nursery and gardening store located just over the border line from Vancouver in Burnaby. I love coming here at Christmas to pick out a tree. Their selection is fantastic and they have good prices, too. Plus, there is hot chocolate and goofy cut outs that you can take pictures in to amuse yourself while you're waiting for your tree to be prepared. It can be a bit hard to find someone to help you here when they get busy though (which is pretty much all the time, at Christmas). Gardenworks also has a fantastic gift selection(they carry things that I wouldn't expect a gardening store to carry, like kitchen supplies and many Christmas ornaments) and obviously their plants and flowers selection is great. read more

First impression is good. There are 2 very seasoned associates who really know their stuff but they move swiftly and are working very hard. The rest of the personnel are rude , snippy and actually not very knowledgeable . The front cash register area is so hot that you don't want to wait to pay. Please put fans there. The prices are higher than everyone elses on everything. No good deals here. They have a lot of bric a brac, clothes and even a cafe which is a nice touch . I have gone a few times in hopes that the experience would improve. I have my own greenhouse and had plant stores when I was younger so my plant knowledge is pretty good. Most of the plants have been imported from California which is okay but expensive. Improve the experience. Put fans on, train staff to have some manners and try to get your prices in line with the market. read more

Probably one of the best nursery/retail centers I have ever been to. The selection of pots and accessories, tropicals, perennials, annuals, and gift ideas is really outstanding. Came here for a birthday party. Didn't even know they offered such a service. It was a fairy garden party and the host was great with kids. I got a beautiful trees here with great choice of pots and got them delivered to the office. They came all ready to be placed! I loved them! Their membership card is $10 and is a good thing to get if you are buying a large items or bulk items as it comes with instant coupons that you can save more than 10 bucks. We bought a golden chain tree from them a couple of years ago, first it was doing great and last summer it was infected with something slimy and the flies were sitting on it and they got stuck the tree started to go black. Any way this year it was not growing the way it should. So my husband phone the store and talked to the manager she said bring it in and we will give you another one. We thought wow, well we did and without any hassle and she was very helpful. We got another one. So far that was the best customer service ever.
