We were looking for someone to come refresh our garden to add some more variety, a bit more color,…read moreand a little less chaos to our yard that had been overrun by 4 large hostas, wild violets, and some quickly multiplying lilies. Robert was quick to respond to my quote request, and stopped by to talk about the proposed plan for the garden layout and redoing the pavers at the edge of the garden. The initial day the team was scheduled to do the work had a conflict for us, and they were great about quickly finding a different day. The team started first thing in the morning and were done by the end of the day. Everything looks great! Robert followed up with some tips for care to ensure that the newly transplanted flowers flourish. Just a week in, and we're already getting compliments on the yard from neighbors walking by. I highly recommend the team for someone looking to get a garden refresh!

Fine job! Seven columnar trees, 10-12' tall were planted properly in April, and they look very good…read more(5 arborvitae and 2 cherries.) It was a difficult job, requiring extensive soil tilling and old root grinding beforehand. The preparation was thorough, and the planting process was well executed. Quite impressive. The team was courteous and helpful. Hydrangeas were planted as well, and they have flourished. My only complaint is the quality of the soil used for amendment. It is hard to work with now in adding shrubs and flowers. All in all, the trees look majestic.

As someone who knows almost nothing about gardening, I went looking for a gardener after purchasing…read morea house with preexisting gardens. I knew I needed more than a landscaper, I knew the sumac and poison ivy weren't supposed to be there, and I knew I needed an expert to help me out from there. Ruth walked with me through the grounds and gave me her ideas about how to make the space flourish and prosper. She clearly cares about the health of plants and the environment. She was respectful of my perspective and desires despite my lack of knowledge, and also respectful of the amount of time, money, energy that I could put toward the garden in the near future. She laid out a plan for both the immediate future and some long-term ideas about the best options for my property, including moving some plants to places that are better suited to them. Within a week of our first meeting, her assistant Kree was at our place to take out the sumac and other weeds. Kree was similarly friendly and knowledgeable, even ringing my doorbell at one point to educate me about a particularly unruly invasive on my property (black swallow-wort). If I knew someone else in a similar situation, I would absolutely recommend Ruth.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Mahoney's, and I just have to share how amazing Anna…read morewas! She truly went above and beyond in helping me repot my plants, and I'm so grateful for her expertise. My plants were in desperate need of some TLC, and Anna not only saved them but also gave me some helpful tips to ensure they thrive. She really knows her stuff! She was friendly, but not overbearing (which I love! Hello, this is Boston), kind, and generous. She made the entire experience so enjoyable and stress-free. Anna was also fantastic with my daughter, taking the time to explain things about the root system in such a down-to-earth way. I could see she was inspiring a love of plants in her too, which was such a special touch. It's rare to come across someone who's not only knowledgeable but genuinely passionate and kind. I've been to this location before (about two years ago), and I also had a great experience with a blond guy who helped me then. He was excellent as well, and my plant that he helped me save is still thriving! The store itself is lovely--great ambiance, light, temperature, and atmosphere. It feels so peaceful. They carry a wide selection of plants and such fun, quirky products. Their employees never try to upsell or be pushy, but if you need help -- they help. While it may be a bit pricier than some other places, to me it's very much worth it for the quality of the plants, products, and the exceptional service. I will definitely be back.

Repotting prices ridiculous, 8" pot of single cactus $25. Took fewer than 5 mins, I get a little extra for the succulent soil but $15 more than a regular plant, no. The real issue with this store, as mentioned by others, is the employees who would appear to rather be doing anything than working here. Specifically those working in the repotting area and 'helping' on the floor. They're so unpleasant I'd have to think twice before dealing with them again
