Came in last week. A good place to pick up your lawn needs. I walked through the aisles kinda confused on what to buy, after a few mins a gentleman helped me and set me up with what I needed. Price wasn't bad. I'll definitely come in again. read more

Real service people, not just sales men! Any time I need knowledge about my yard, this is where I go. Other places just sell stuff but can't answer questions or give advice. Love those Red Rooster tools. This supply place has the best service. Very knowledgeable and extremely respectful.

These guys are super friendly, extremely knowledgeable. I drive a little further out of town to come here because of the great service, quality and knowledge. Since I drive from far away, I stock up so I don't have to come back as often What I like also, is they have larger quantity than your regular stores, so you get more value for your money it's just worth coming out this way. For your garden needs from tools to fertilizers to chemicals these guys are it 10 stars for them. And thanks to the kids who help me load the car they were very sweet. read more

Staff is amazing! Always have helpful advice and suggestions on what will solve our problems. Always our go to for gardening solutions.

Paul was very helpful! He walked us through everything we needed. Excited to start our new project.

I dealt with Paul Rae. The guy knows his grass. We told him what our garden problems here, intending to buy some roundup, and he recommended a couple chemicals that would kill off our weeds without having to target them and hope we didnt splash anything we didnt want to kill. He also recommended a fertilizer to boost our plants and offered a soil test. Time to bring a baggie of dirt. Thanks Paul. read more

This place is small but an EXCELLENT source for all your gardening questions and products. The staff is extremely well educated and will always offer to help as you walk in. Management at this place knows what they are doing...the customer here is always first and it definitely shows. I would recommend this place to anyone who has the slightest interest in maintaining a beautifully landscaped property. The website seems like a work-in-progress and it seems to be improving. They have a handy Fertilizer Calendar that is super helpful in keeping track when and what products to apply to your landscaping - I recommend getting a copy of it. read more

Gardeners Supply - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Bakersfield, California

What customer service!!! We recently moved to Bakersfield from northern California and were shocked to learn that we needed to scrap a perfectly good lawn (Bermuda grass) and put in a winter grass if we wanted a green yard. We went to Gardener's Supply having no clue about the process but John walked us through everything from start to finish. We were able to renovate, reseed and fertilize our very large backyard in an afternoon. We were given the information and tools (for free!) needed to figure out how much we should be watering. They had pamphlets explaining everything in great detail. We have a calendar that tells us when we need to do what to our lawn and if the results continue to be as good as they have been after less then three weeks, we will be extremely happy! Thanks so much to everyone working there-you have all been a huge help!!! read more

Go talk to these guys!!! I agree with the other raters. The staff are incredibly nice and knowledgeable! They warmly greet you as soon as you walk in the door and ask how they can help. I love how they will do up to 5 free soil analyses! This helps you analyze a soil sample of your yard and then they talk to you about what treatments you can do to improve your results. But it's not just one soil analysis but 5! So, if you want to check to make sure the treatment is working just bring in another sample several weeks later. Bonus tip: They have an entire wall of information-based brochures. These range from how to get rid of spurge to when to apply pre-emergent. It's incredibly useful for those of us who think we can remember every detail of a conversation just to forget it all when we get home. read more

Came here with the intentions of buying certain products from the research I made on how to take care of roses, and was welcomed as soon as we entered. I should had saved time and skipped the goggle research and came here long time ago, because they are so helpful and informative! I had cero idea other than what I read online about roses, and walked out that door with good information, and much easier way than what I had read. FYI For those checking in for the 10lb bag, I was told they don't have it. read more

This place is top-notch. I have been using them for a very long time and their service is excellent consistently. I have been greeted at the door on every visit by a helpful and knowledgeable employee. I don't know what they do to train their staff so well, but it seems like every employee knows a great deal about all of the products they sell, and their products are very high-quality. They also offer a mailer that will remind you when it is the best time to do various yard treatments (eg: apply pre-emergent, fertilizer, etc) Their prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. If you want a little help with getting your yard in great condition, or developing a green thumb, give Gardener's Supply a shot. You will not be disappointed! read more

My husband purchased a pump sprayer about 2 years ago. It works great. This month we found a defect in the spray line. When we went in to purchase a new line we were informed they warranty the unit. We brought the sprayer back and they replaced it with a new one, no questions asked. This place is amazing. The employees were so helpful and friendly. I am more than impressed. We had a few questions about our lawn and the employees were very knowledgeable. I will be back and recommend this place to everyone. read more

Customer service is ALWAYS great. Employees are helpful & friendly. My father has always used & recommended this business for his lawn & garden needs. This is my go-to place for expert gardening advice and product. The folks down there always take the time to educate me on the product I need to do the job, without any pressure whatsoever. I LOVE their fertilizers and grass seeds...almost no weeds compared to the box stores' bag-o-weeds. I disagree with the 3 $$$ rating, their products are always priced at a good value, not expensive. read more

The owner has done an amazing job, acquiring many top brands of garden products and tools, a wide range of non-powered rental equipment, and hiring staff members with appreciable experience. Everyone there is trained to recognize all manner of pests and diseases, and learns how to treat them. It's better than seeing a County extension office: you bring in bugs or damaged foliage and they not only tell you what it is and what you need, they have it all right there. They do basic soil testing (for Ph and calcium levels). They also offer hats and garden gloves. This is the go-to place for thousands of local garden people. read more

Always someone there to greet you and help you find what you need. You never have to wait or wander around (like the big box stores).

Fantastic customer service!! I don't know much about lawns and I was greeted upon arrival by a knowledgable employee who asked me questions and helped pick out the right products to make my lawn green. They also do free soil testing. A perfect example of how a business should treat their customers! read more

Count on great service and a very knowledgeable staff. Up to five FREE soil tests with each additional test sample at only $4.25. They offer two types of soil tests - PH and Shaker Jar. I needed both and here is what I did: I mapped out my growing areas (9) on a sheet of paper and numbered them. For the PH test, I went to ACE and had them cut 1 inch PVC into 2 foot lengths for the number of areas I wanted to have tested in each growing area. Then I drove the PVC into the ground about 6-8 inches for my lawn and flowerbed areas and about 1 foot where I plan to plant trees. I pulled the pipes out of the ground (this is where the extra PVC length helps) and covered the soil ends with a ziplock bag and secure it with a rubber band. Then I labeled the pipe with the area number from my map. For the shaker jar tests that measure organic material, sand, silt, and clay, I bought a boxed set of small Mason jars and just scooped up a half jar of soil at the same sites that I wanted tested for PH. I labeled the lids with the same area number from the map. GS has forms for you to fill out for each test. TIP: Make sure you take your soil samples during normal weather conditions, not right after it rains or after you watered because it will indicate false heavy moisture content requiring an amendment. Hope this review was helpful. read more
