I strongly caution anyone considering this company: unless you own a million-dollar property in…read moreKamloops, you may be treated as an inconvenience -- and billed regardless. There are surely more respectful, service-oriented movers in the region who would be happy to help seniors and their families without judgment or hidden fees. As a resident of Ontario, I contacted this Kamloops-based moving company to assist with moving a large selection of tools from my late mother's townhome. I was very clear during the phone call with the owner that this involved basement items -- specifically tools -- the equivalent of a garage move. I even supplied my own storage container and only needed assistance walking the items down the driveway into it. When the movers arrived, they took one look and immediately refused the job. They stated they "typically deal with million-dollar homes" and that my mother's modest residence was "not something they normally do." Their tone was condescending, and it was made clear they viewed the job as beneath them. Minimal work was completed, (they moved a sofa and a few household items). They did not bring boxes or packing material. I was later issued an invoice for nearly $1,000 -- for a four-hour minimum charge that was never disclosed during my booking. Despite advertising themselves as a friendly, full-service moving company, their attitude toward assisting with a modest, senior citizen's home was dismissive and degrading. The owner again reiterated that their services were geared toward upscale homes and clients. I was shocked, particularly as someone arranging services from out of province, to encounter such a lack of professionalism and transparency. I was in Ontario during the 'move' and family members who travelled to Kamloops had to deal with the condescension and contempt of the owner and staff. Thankfully, neighbours overheard the conversations and offered to help us do the packing/moving into the storage bin I rented.

It's a challenge to find a moving company that you can feel confident about. Knowing you and your belongings will be treated with care and respect. I have moved many times over the last several years and have had mostly bad luck with movers until now. Pioneer Moving & Storage were kind, helpful and very professional right from the start. During our move from the Kamloops area to Lake Country, they were extremely careful, very efficient and their positive/happy personalities got us through an exhausting and stressful day. He was very knowledgeable and made the process go smoothly and was receptive to meeting our budget. We had an excellent installer by the name of Ian Taylor who in my opinion accomplished in 3hrs what an ordinary one would take 6 hrs to do. He was easy to work with and very accommodating. My only opinion would be that you include the cleanup by say a maid service in your contract as a professional installer should not have to clean up and read the contract as to what is covered. Clayton also gave us some carpet cleaner which was the best I have ever used so thanks again Clayton. Fully Recommend, Robert Strong.

Entering the store, Clayton (sales rep) greeted us and proceeded to show us area carpets, (this store has a huge selection) After a bit of time Clayton suggested we try the Room Visualizer. I had a picture of our living room on my phone and emailed it to Clayton. After that we found the perfect area carpets for our home, we ended up purchasing 2 area carpets and 1 runner. The runner wasn't in stock in their store, Clayton found 1 in their Kelowna Store and got it shipped to Kamloops. We got home and realized we needed 1 more runner, so we called Clayton and he found another one for us.

We worked with him for a couple months while making a very large move across the province. He was there with us every step of the way with follow-ups and check-ins to ensure we were well taken care of throughout the process. We are first time home buyers so had lots of questions that he didn't hesitate to answer honestly which we greatly appreciated. He was very patient with us as we learned the ropes of putting in offers and bidding on homes that had plenty of other offers. He did not give up on us when we were continually overbid from other aggressive buyers, instead he got his team to hit the pavement and drop off flyers in the neighbourhoods we liked. That was what found us our dream home. One of the homeowners got his flyer and let them know they were interested in selling to us and the process for an off-the-market sale went swiftly and secured us exactly what we were looking for. He supported us throughout the buying, negotiating, financing, inspection and move-in processes which made everything flow seamlessly. We would both highly suggest choosing Scott and his team as your realtor if your looking for a home in Kamloops. He will no doubt exceed your expectations and find you and your family your dream home. Thanks again to Scott and the McDowell team!
