They were having a special event--with info about pertinent gardening topics, and I signed up for a great sea glass Art class with the C Sisters. This center has great plant options, a wonderful gift shop, a variety of monthly art classes (including a series for younger children) and even leads field trips. I will definitely sign up for the private tour of the Delaware Botanic Gardens that they lead. The staff is friendly and helpful, too. Definitely check out this lovely garden center!!

You can walk around the lavender gardens and feel inspired to go home and plant your own lavender field. This would be a perfect spot for a wedding. Of course the people who work here are amazing and wear purple clothes. I cant go here without spending money in the store. I bought two sachets of lavender and the most fragrant lavender bundle. I cant decide if the lavender is going in my pillowcase, my drawers, or tossing in my dryer with my laundry.

Secluded Acres was something that I drove by for years but now I stop once or twice a year, the…read morelast five years. It's right on Northbound 47 and you would think the prices will be higher due to being "down the shore" but they aren't. It's a great place to pick up things on your way home from the shore to plant at home. Hanging baskets make great gifts and in season they have a ton. Today I was down the shore at a friends place and I just drove up to see what they had already and were getting in. Today on this visit I noticed they were getting ready for Easter. One of my favorite things to buy there is Mandevilla. A Friend of mine owns a Motel down the shore and she gets seven or eight of them each year from secluded acres and they really beautify her property. The owner of Secluded is a really cool guy who is helpful and very knowledgeable about plants and landscaping. He reminded me the Mandevilla, beingbeing a tropical won't be in until June so I'll just have to wait. But in the meantime I was able to play with their new puppy, Piney I think her name is and the most delightful, friendly black cat that roams the property. Name unknown. The funniest thing about the cat is she( or he) loves to pose for pictures. Secluded is a great garden center in that it is family operated with love and pride. I can't wait to visit this gem again next month

Her pre-planted hanging baskets are gorgeous. All of the plants are first-quality, healthy, and very well priced. They also carry some shrubs, roses, etc. but I have to say the the flowering plants is where they shine. :) In addition, they are a dealer for Massarelli fountains and have a selection of garden accents as well. During the spring, summer & fall months, she sells beautiful vegetable, herbs and flowers at the garden one or two days during the week, and every Saturday morning at the Historic Lewes Farmer's Market All her produce is excellent - though she is renowned for her heirloom tomatoes - I think this year she has about 10 different varieties, and of course, for her arugula. She is also well known for her cut flowers, which she usually puts together in lovely bouquet arrangements for her customers. During the off-season when the HLFM is closed, Hattie operates a weekly delivery / pickup service. In addition to the produce Hattie grows, she offers produce from many local vendors, as well as a good selection of local artisan food such as pastries, soups, breads, jams, honey, cheese, organic chicken & duck eggs, organic meats, and even fresh oysters harvested the day before from Chincoteague Bay. I applaud Hattie for doing everything she can to advance local, small sustainable farms and food artisans, and to promote the consumption of good whole food grown locally, as well as standing behind everything she sells.
