A really, really nice man from the Burley called to say the particular plant I ordered is much nicer and prettier in the Springtime so he wouldn't recommend sending it. He offered several alternatives and I chose a cut flower arrangement which he said he would put together and deliver it the next day. My friend called the next day and texted me a picture of the arrangement. It was beautiful and she said it made her house and her happy. The flowers were delivered to our house on the afternoon of November 1 and the driver was kind enough to bring the flowers into the house for me. When my wife looked at the flowers, she noted that they were wilted and did not look fresh. We just thought they may have needed water, but after checking, the water was full. On November 2, the day after delivery, the damaged petals started to fall off on both of the flower orders. See picture attached. He told me exactly what he could and couldn't do (we were working with florist's choice because of the last minute nature of my request), but he also delivered my arrangement on Sunday. The flowers were stunning, which is the most important part. In addition, when I called a second time after figuring out my mom wasn't going to be around, they worked out a late delivery time and left the flowers in a cool, shaded spot so they weren't wilty when my mom got home. However, there were a number of beautiful bouquets to choose from. When I went to the register with the bouquet, the employee stated she felt like something was missing and wanted to add a few more flowers. This transformed an already beautiful bouquet and I appreciated her going the extra mile! Our family loves the bouquet and comments each time they walk by the flowers. It was my first time at Peppers (Monday, May 4th), and I was excited about it. It's a little like a maze, only organized into right angles. Seemed there was only one way in and one way out, which is also okay. Things went downhill after the first hour as it was getting crowded, and customers were waiting in the parking lot hoping to snag a cart from someone leaving. by 10:30 it was so crowded, with cutomers as well as employees trying to move racks of plants around, that it was often necessary to wait for someone to pass, before I could walk down a main aisle heading in the opposite direction. I had to check out twice, and both times the owner (Mr. Pepper) and his wife were at the counter. Both tended to speak only to the girl working the register, but when necessary to ask me for clarification (like "Is this your's too?" kind of thing), the tone was curt and to the point, delivered without a smile. It was busy, I get that there's little time for chit-chat, but it felt a little like being in line at the Soup Nazi (Seinfeld, Season 7, Episode 6). But, I wouldn't be writing this review if it weren't for what I realized this morning: Every single basil plant I bought is actually a dozen or so plants growing together in a small pot. I bought seven, and when picking them out I was curious as to why they were so small. Now I know. This seems to be a trend I've noticed, at both Lowe's and Home Depot, where several plants are crammed into one pot to create the illusion of a larger plant with an established root system. Crowded roots become suppressed roots, thus a stunted plant that does not thrive. This **can** be seen by some as a plus, but I find it misleading, and it is not a proper potting method for growing healthy plants. The basils ranged from $2.95 to $3.95. And last, I never did see where the restrooms were, but one of the friends I was with, who has been here many times, shook her head when I asked where it was, saying, "You don't want to go in there." Maybe it was an outhouse? I took her advice and visited Royal Farms on the way home. In summary, it is worth going to, but be ready for a less than enjoyable experience, unless you arrive and leave early. Get there early to get a cart, don't expect "friendly" service if it's busy, and check the stems of whatever you consider buying to see if multiple plants are potted.

This was my first time ordering from Sonya's and I am so happy that I did. My mom could not be happier, the flowers are so gorgeous. I finally had a chance to go to Inland Bays, and was so happy that I did. They were having a special event--with info about pertinent gardening topics, and I signed up for a great sea glass Art class with the C Sisters. This center has great plant options, a wonderful gift shop, a variety of monthly art classes (including a series for younger children) and even leads field trips. I will definitely sign up for the private tour of the Delaware Botanic Gardens that they lead. The staff is friendly and helpful, too. Definitely check out this lovely garden center!!
