An Absolute Gem in Lewes! Lloyd's Market is the ultimate old-school, neighborhood grocery store. It…read morehas a wonderful, small-town charm that you just cannot find at big-box chains. Despite its compact size, the store is incredibly well-stocked with surprising specialty items like high-quality farmer's kefir, fresh buttermilk, and a great yogurt selection. Their produce section is fantastic, and I picked up some of the biggest, perfectly ripe avocados. You also cannot miss their deli counter--their rotisserie chicken and homemade side salads are top-tier. What truly makes this place special is the staff. They always hire great local high school kids who are exceptionally polite, hardworking, and helpful. It is wonderful to see a local business supporting the community's youth. Supporting this family-owned store is always a pleasure! I have a 14 y.o., if you ever need help!

Plus some fresh produce for grilling and it was all wonderful. It is a great little store, very small but pretty much has about anything you could need. The store was very well stocked and had lots of small containers of different types of salads and sides at decent prices. I like that they were small so I could choose a few to see which ones I like the best. They also take Apple Pay which is always a plus for me. They only have two check out lines but they have two people working both registers so it moved pretty quickly. Great store and worth a visit.

I was looking forward to supporting the local farmers at the Lewes Farmers Market at Crooked…read moreHammock, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. I arrived about eight minutes before opening and found a line already stretching along the side of Crooked Hammock. Like anyone else, I walked to the end of the line. As I crossed the parking lot with my dog on a leash, the woman stationed at the entrance looked directly in our direction, yet said nothing. Only after the line began moving and I had waited to reach the entrance was I told that dogs are not allowed in the market. I was then directed to a sign posted at the entrance. I explained that because I had joined the line from the back, I never passed the entrance and therefore never saw the sign. When I asked why no one had mentioned the policy when I first joined the line, I was told they hadn't seen me. That was surprising, since I had clearly seen the attendant looking our way. This is an outdoor venue, and as I was approaching the market I had even seen another leashed dog walking through the parking lot, so there was nothing to suggest pets weren't permitted. I completely respect the market's right to have a no-dogs policy. My disappointment isn't with the rule itself, but with how it was communicated. After waiting in line, it was frustrating to be turned away when a simple heads-up as I arrived could have saved everyone the inconvenience. If dogs are prohibited, the market should post signs where people join the line or at multiple locations around the parking area so visitors can see the policy before waiting. I had every intention of supporting the local farmers, and unfortunately I left without being able to do so.

Fortunately, we got there early as the sunflowers I bought were all gone a little later in the morning. There was also available parking in the area.
