This is walking distance from my guy's old place and we came here quite a few times. It's small and eclectic in all the right ways. I love how they have tons of plants, books, and mugs for sale. There's plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy a cup of coffee, one of their baked goods, or to just read a book. My guy really likes the coffee from here and I've tried their pastries, but am just not impressed by them. I've tried their Cinnamon Roll and Croissant and they are very sweet, but also lacking in flavor. That's my only critique about this charming spot. read more

The matcha itself was impressive--it had a nice, smooth flavor and the texture wasn't powdery at all, which is always a win. The cream on top was also super yummy. My only real critique on the drink itself was that it felt a little light on the raspberry flavor; I would have preferred a bit more of that fruitiness to cut through. ​While I enjoyed the drink and the atmosphere, it was definitely on the pricier side. It came out to $7.25, plus an extra $0.50 fee for using a credit card. What an amazing, cute little place! The somewhat hard to find coffee shop with a outdoor covered seating area. It's just the right thing for an early morning or afternoon respite. The new owner has apparently worked there for several years and decided to buy the place. She was so attentive and easy to work with and also helped us with suggestions on what to get. I got a hot pistachio latte and my wife got a cold pistachio latte! We both loved our drinks. Garden coffee knocking it out of the park again! This place never disappoint, from the pastries to the drinks, it is always amazing. You can definitely taste the quality and the care they put into picking their menu items. The banana flavored coffee trend has been huge lately and I saw that garden coffee had added "Top Banana" to their menu. You know I had to try it and it was great. The banana flavor is concentrated into to the banana cold foam top, and it tastes like they blended milk with banana, it was so refreshing. It did not have an artificial flavor at all. I also wanted a decaf version of the top banana so instead of cold brew they made it into a latte form for me so I could have it decaf. The baristas are always the sweetest and so friendly. On top of all of that, the space is so cozy. It is located under a tree, so plenty of shade and the owner has many plants around (some for sale too!) and makes the space so green. This is a partially covered outdoor area, so definitely bring a jacket because it gets cold in the shade. There is plenty of seating and tables available, but it fills up as the day goes on. For people looking to study at a coffee shop, there are limited outlets here. They also have a small free library here and game to play. I love that this feels like a place where people can gather. I can't imagine this shop having anything less than 5 stars, especially when the owner Jess is on the premises! Every sip and bite you take is incredible. The ambiance is next level and truly is so unique in a city full of incredible coffee shops. It should be on everyone's "do not miss" list when you either come to visit San Diego or if you're a native looking to explore your home city. I have been wanting to come here for a while and I'm so glad I did. It is so cute. I've been going to Old Town for years and never noticed this place. The only thing I don't love is that you pick which mug you want and it's like I don't know give me the biggest one. As they are different sizes. So I do feel that they should have a standard size for the mugs. But other than that the place is great. I don't remember what drink I had as I went a few weeks ago but I remember I liked it it was a nice simple latte. My friend enjoyed hers as well. Parking was easy for us as we went on a weekday morning so there was a bunch of parking. If you were to go on a Saturday afternoon I imagine it would be very difficult to find parking. The prices seemed normal. My friend and I check out a different coffee shop or Cafe and this is one that I recommend. Check out my page if you want to see more recommendations. There are also some little shops like a thrift store and something else in the same little area. But all of Old Town is such a vibe. So do yourself a favor come here in the morning have a nice cup of coffee or a latte and then spend the next few hours in old town. And the workers were very nice. read more

Super cute plate next to Old Town! Came here Saturday at noon and waited ~5 minutes in line and ~15 minute for my drink. They also have a selection of pastries and food items. The space is also a nursery, and they sell branded merch like hats/patches/tote bags. I noticed that for people that weren't taking their drinks to go, their drinks were served in unique mugs which I thought was so charming. I got the raspberry mocha which was the February flavor, and the coffee flavor was strong and balanced well with the sour raspberry and sweet chocolate. Free WiFi, and a good amount of seating for working/chatting. Parking can be kind of tough--ended up being lucky with street parking. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to this hidden coffee shop in Old Town. It's in a tiny little nook back behind a psychic and near the vintage thrift store. I like that it's open air and there are lots of plants, plus all of the mismatch furniture gives it extra charm. We got to pick out cute little mugs to enjoy our tasty coffee drinks while we were there. Kudos for the Christmas options and for being a little more sustainable! Super cute coffee shop/plant shop new to my collection. Too cute! Don't know how I didn't know about it before. Plenty of parking outside and plenty of seating options. I was able to comfortable teach to my Spanish student from there and not bothering anything while being able to listen to the music. In terms of atmosphere and friendliness, this is a 5/5. I was mesmerized by so many charming touches and the freshness of the plants. Speaking of freshness, I don't think I can say the same about the pastries.
