**WARNING** From an honest consumer and now victim of this company, Please DO NOT use Garcia Painting Co, of Gilroy, also going by the name Garcia & Sons Painting Co. Owner is Mark Garcia.
I recently purchased a new home. Moved with my family to a new city, Gilroy. This period in our life which should have been joyous, exciting, and memorable turned into a nightmare because of Garcia Painting. Let me share my horrific experience with you. Despite my better judgement, with only one review on Yelp, I still decided to go with this company because they were local, cheapest quote, and we had no other referrals. A little cliche but hence the term, "you pay for what you get."
But in this case he did not end up being cheaper, but instead adding on to the cost as the project went on telling us material was costing double what he originally had quoted us and not showing any receipts. We also ended up having to pay extra to fix the damages and clean up the mess that they had done to our home.
We hired him to paint the whole interior walls of our home, all cabinets in the kitchen, upstairs altar, and laundry room cabinets. Where is the respect for your customers and their home?. These people knew we were not staying in the home yet and that we were commuting so would not be coming in to check on home. They had taken advantage of this fact. We were told at beginning of project that they were going to remove all cabinets and work on them in their shop. Well being excited home owners, one evening we stopped by to check on the progress, to our surprise painted cabinets were hanging all across our living room floor on make shift drying racks from their ladders! When I had talked to owner regarding this he had assured me that they were going to clean up their mess. The ladders and dents left scratches all over our floor. They even had the air conditioning going. I understand it can get very hot in Gilroy, but it's just courtesy to ask first. As the project moved forward, tension escalated as we can see the work was looking very sloppy and it was not looking like they were going to meet the agreed completion date. I was on a strict schedule with several different contractors at the time, where is there were any delayment in any one of them, it sets off my next project causing a domino effect. My kids were starting school and I had meticulously organized all the construction scheduling so our home would be completed and we would be settled before school started. A few days before completion date, owner Mark had requested remaining balance from me. Now, this was my fault and lesson learned. I had paid him in full before we did the final walk through and everything was completed. Big mistake. I cannot even describe to you the utter shock and disbelief we were in walking into our home thinking it was completed. Our floor was ruined, not cleaned up as promised. There were dry spray paint splatters and dripping , dents and scratches all over floor and some of the doors. Broken window balances and lost of them not even replaced. Smoke detector alarms, light switches, vent covers were not replaced as well and just tossed in a pile by the fireplace. Work was just plain sloppy. Ceiling edges and area where walls connect with different colors were crooked. Dry paint drippings on cabinets. The list goes on. I was in tears. I paid this man a lot of money and I feel that he did not deliver. I offered him 2 chances to come back, on both accounts he had canceled last minute. And because he had already been paid in full, never came back. This is a horrible man, a horrible company and a nightmare of an experience. I hope this review saves another family from the grief mine had to go through. Please view the photos of the work the owner claims as being "completed." Pictures speak a thousand words. How could anyone do this to another person? Where is the professionalism as a business owner? Honesty and conscience as a human being? Integrity to stand behind the quality of their work? This company lacks all of the above including respect for their customers and their homes. Save your money and take your business elsewhere. read more
