We met a good friend of ours here for lunch. His wife and US, would regularly go n out to eat with each other. It was a normal routine. His wife passed away suddenly about 8 months ago and he hasnt gone anywhere that whole time. She was my best friend. It was a pleasant surprise, when he agreed to have lunch with us. We decided to go to Zea's on W. ESPLANADE. It was obvious they were busy as most of the lot was full. The first thing we noticed was the new interior renovations. It was definitely brighter and open since the last time we were here. We finally got sat at a table, wasnt a long wait. Our server, (young lady named Taylor) was our server. She was very friendly, inviting personality and made you feel welcomed. We started off with drinks and the Hummus appetizer. Never seen a big appetizer like this, it was perfect for 3 even 4 ppl and very good. It was served with warm pita slices. I remember they served cucumber slices upon request, not sure if they still do that. The lunch entrees were Almond chicken salad for my wife. Our friend ordered the Thai rib plate and I had the Crispy duck. As far as I know, my food was excellent, the duck was well cooked and moist. The Thai ribs are usually always good, no doubt that has changed, I stole one of my friends ribs. It went to good use. My wife said the main salad was good, but she feels the chicken itself lacked flavor, but since this is my review, only my opinion matters, lol. The Thai ribs were very good. I love the corn grits and the zea potatoes. For me, I feel this was my best meal I've had all year so far. Would I come back? Heck yeah. You buying? I overall, love the change. The new menu and decor is a hit for me.

There is no warning that the prices could be higher, whether verbal or written! When we spoke to the junior manager and server, we were given an excuse saying that because we ordered off the kid's menu that they didn't think we would care if the prices were raised or that there would be an up-charge but that was not communicated nor was it a real policy? This better get fixed, because some customers might take this even more seriously. It's an easy fix, the children's menu is literally made of paper, just print new ones.

So I've returned many times to the Sewanee Shenanigans over the years while somehow missing the fact that there is also a Shenanigans in Metairie which I also learned offers a steak night. On further investigation I also learned they have live music on a pretty regular schedule so all that sounded like a real win to me! So I planned a time where I could combine steak night with some live music and I ended up having a fantastic time with both my steak and the live music for my first visit here. I made another return visit for more live music and sampled the burger which was also quite nice. I have returned for quite a number of visits at this point and have found this to be quite a pleasant place to pass a good time with good food, good times, good music and good people! Dressings were those big pouches of Kraft's. I chose the balsamic vinaigrette. The tomatoes tasted nasty. I know winter tomatoes aren't great, but these were really bad. They remained on the plate. The fruit salad was equally bad. We ate a few bites of the various pieces of fruit and tossed the rest out. Service was polite and accommodating when we ordered. I find it unaccountable that the airport in a city known for its food should have such a paucity of options. All over the country we've found surprisingly good food options when we've needed them, from Houston to Newark to Kansas City to Boston. The lack of good food here goes along w/ the lack of music and the lack of personality in the airport serving a city known for all three.
