I found Garage Doctors on Yelp, and went with them because of their strong reviews - AND because my situation seemed very simple. I had a broken garage door cable (I replaced both of them), but needed Garage Doctors to make the final adjustments - so this should be simple, right? When I called them, they are very polite and positive. "This is a good start," I thought to myself. :-) They explained their process step by step, and I ordered a garage door 'tune-up' - because all I needed was some minor adjustments. Booked it - and they would call 15 minutes befire arriving = so perfect!! So on the day of the appointment came and they missed the 2PM appointment, as they called 45 minutes after the appointment time slot was to begin. They proposed 6PM and I said OK. Same Deal, they called about 45 minutes into the time slot and still wanted to come out. Normally this would have been OK with me, but I had an appointment for some serious beer drinking to start around 7:30 - so the garage door and their Plan B would have to wait. Next, we booked the appt. for the following Monday, 2PM - and they said they would call 15 minutes before arriving. My call on Monday was around 2:10PM, and the tech said he was 35-40 minutes from being there. When he did not arrive - and because they had not shown to be prompt, I called him around 2:55 - just to tweak him and ask if he was still coming. He was 5 minutes out. I think he arrived about 3:05 (15 minutes late for those scoring at home), and he was a very pleasant and upbeat gentleman named Chad. So after all this logistical crapola, it turns out that my dreams were dashed by the fact that 'Tune-up' isn't really a tune-up in the traditional sense as in they don't include any spring adjustments in this (which is really all I needed). That said, he re-tightened all the bolts, re-lubed all the stuff I had lubed and then adjusted the springs. So $85 and 20 minutes later he was gone along with my hopes of getting a simple spring adjustment for around $30 (using the Yelp Deal they advertised). So maybe part of this was my lack of communication, but when you call something a tune-up - you kind of expect it to actually run once it is completed, don't you? read more

Love my new garage door! These guys are great. I recently moved into an older home and my detached garage had a door that was literally falling apart. I was concerned about whether it could be replaced with a door that would keep the integrity of the 1950s style. Evan walked me through my options and was very knowledgeable. Scheduling was easy and when he came out to the house, he went through each detail of the project. There were some challenges to work with given the age of the structure, but he had a solution for each one. When the installer came out, he didn't have the notes on adding trim around the edges. But, when I explained that it was something we agreed upon, there were no questions asked - they would get it fixed right away. I had Austin Garage Doctors (Garage Doctors) install a 3/4 HP Chamberlain opener in March 2015, Called before 1 year had ended with complaints that the opener was malfunctioning. Garage Doctors serviced the opener a total of five (5) separate times but could never correct the problem. Evan (owner) of Garage Doctors initially stated that Garage Doctors would only warranty labor, but after discussions with Chamberlain (manufacturer) he stated that they had agreed to replace the original Model 8557 (3/4 HP) opener. He installed a new opener yesterday and I asked why the new opener looked smaller than the original. He stated, "It's the new model". After installation I found that he had installed a lower cost 1/2 HP opener as my "replacement" for the 3/4 HP opener I had originally paid for. Bottom line is I paid for a 3/4 HP opener, which never worked properly, and when the replacement was made I got a lower cost opener and was misled during the process. Very poor quality and in my opinion dishonest in the replacement of the malfunctioning unit. I highly recommend using a different firm for your maintenance and new installation needs. read more

Evan was punctual and responsive; he came out and did the job two weeks ago, all within the time frame that he said he would. However, he originally quoted $189 for parts and labor to replace the broken torsion spring and after he arrived he charged an extra $38 for a hidden service fee that he never mentioned over the phone when I called to get the estimate. I thought this wasn't a good practice and I told him he needs to be upfront with the customers when they call upon for price quotes. A few days later, he called and apologized for the misunderstanding and refunded the $38. Evan seems to be very sincere about making things right for his customers. I was impressed with their professionalism over the phone and they didn't dodge the price question which so many other service companies do. I asked them to come out and when they did Evan was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. They were in and out in less than an hour, did a fantastic job and my garage door works like new. They even gave me tips on how to lengthen the life of my garage door. WOW! These guys are great. I found myself trapped in my own house at 7:30am on a Friday. I called Garage Doctors because of the awesome reviews on Yelp. They said they could get here between 10 and 11am and that someone would call before they headed my way. Evan called at 10:07 and was here by 10:15. Thirty minutes later, I had brand-spanking-new springs, a lubed-up system and my garage door has never opened better! It's quieter, the opener isn't straining and Evan was a pleasure to work with. I called Garage Doctors after calling a few other places who tried to "up-sale" me on the phone before even seeing my garage doors. When I called Garage Doctors I got Evan on the phone and he was polite and informative. He was able to come out the very next day and quickly fix my problem. I called him to replace my weather seal which I had tried to do on my own but got in over my head. He was able and willing to use a weather seal kit I had already purchased online which meant didn't have to buy another one from him. He charged me for labor only and was very reasonable. Had a security gate stuck open. Called this company and got a four o clock appointment. About 4:30 called and was told the tech would call me right back. No call, called again and this time was told they were at front gate. Went out and no one at gate. Called again and was told they would call me immediately. No call, by this time called and they were closed. No one had contacted me and they went home. This is a security gate for a private ranch, needless to say I moved on. read more

I shopped around for a price for my broken spring for my double door, and this one was the lowest. But the question remained about how well would they do the job. That was answered when they pulled up at the front of the house ready to go. In about thirty minutes, the two guys had the old springs off and 10-yr springs placed back on. The door works as if it was just installed. They even showed me the type of lube to keep my springs in top shape, along with the frequency of lubing them. I'm going to be a repeat customer.
