I love GAP. I've been shopping with this Gap store for over 15 years. LOVE IT! Never had a problem. I'm a huge shopper, my experience has always been awesome. I've had interactions with difference Managers and sales associates all have been great . I love the selection, it's a smaller store with great selections. I was wondering why this store had such low ratings, and after visiting today, I completely understand. The reviews mentioning poor customer service and discriminatory treatment were, unfortunately, consistent with my experience. I visited today to shop for jeans since I hadn't been to Gap in years. During my entire time in the store, not a single employee acknowledged me. To make matters worse, an employee even allowed another customer to cut in front of me without saying anything. It genuinely felt like the staff were more attentive to customers with lighter hair and lighter eyes, while I felt completely ignored. This gap store is a disappointment. There are individuals currently employed here such as Brooke and Val who are both rude, racist and not accommodating the customer in any ways. They all gossip on the sales floor and it's a bad look and representation of the gap brand. The only professional employee here in Shelly. She's a sweetheart and very much appreciated. While other employees such as racist and inappropriate Shirley & Val & Brooke & fail here other employees like Shelly do a fantastic job. There is a poor value to match the poor attitudes. I don't think that equals $8. The service rep who was helping me wasn't very helpful and was very snippy. She asked if she could throw my receipt away for me She said she couldn't make an even exchange because she couldn't find my return on the actual receipt but I could find it!! She then said the only way I could make a return would be if I exchanged this with the exact same color I was extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service. I've shopped in this location for the last 20 years. Typically the service is pretty decent, and the location is easy to get in and out of. This review is for the manager Vanessa. Unfortunately today I didn't have a great experience and won't be coming back which is a bummer because it is so convenient for me. I purchased 3 items a week ago and admittedly I took the tags off 2 items as I was going to wear them. After I put them on and finished getting ready (10 minutes, tops) I decided I needed a different size. I set the tags aside and put the items back in the bag. I spent about an hour in the store today, and selected several items for my exchange, totaling approx $500 retail. Sales person Shelley was awesome and helped me. She was very friendly, outgoing, and provided great customer service. My issue came up with the manager on duty Vanessa. Apparently the shirt I was returning had the inside tags were cut out. How that happened is a mystery to me since I only cut off the price tag (which i unfortunately left on my dresser). Therefore she would not return my shirt. All I heard was 'it's policy and there is nothing I can do for you' several times, and even slightly snippy. If I wasn't leaving for a trip tomorrow I would have just gone to South Coast to buy my stuff. And walked out. Granted I did cut the price tags off and left them at home so my bad. While they returned my $100 pants without the tag, this store lost a customer for a $17 shirt I was exchanging for a different size. The attitude and how she spoke to me is the issue I have. I was also basically accused of doing something I didn't do (cutting out the garment tags, I am assuming the shirt was purchased and returned already). But I get it, and have heard all the same stories over the years. I actually work in retail and these days brick and mortar stores are doing what they can to provide amazing service to create loyalty with their customers to keep them coming back. My interaction with manager Vanessa did the complete opposite. I've seen similar reviews on here from customers that were hassled for returning items. #shame read more

I'm not surprised this Gap has the worst reviews of the local Gaps. They told us they wouldn't honor the store sale for us until we had to have another person come over who gave us the sale. I'm not sure how this Gap can operate outside of the general Gap rules but it seems like they make it up themselves based on who they like and who they don't. I felt ignored while looking for some clothes for my kids who im expecting. When i asked her for help. She totally disregarded any attempt to assist me. Being one of the smaller locations, the selection's not as good as the one in South Coast Plaza, but if you need to pop in and get some stuff it's not bad. The big selling point for me is its location in an outdoor shopping center--you don't have to trek all the way in to a mall to get to it. The sales staff is hit-or-miss--sometimes you get a great salesperson and other times you're completely ignored. Ah whatevs, it's just a Gap, you either like the clothes or you don't. I generally like their stuff so I come here every once in a while to see what's up when I hit up the other stores in the center. read more

Gap provides such a variety of clothes that are pragmatic and cost efficient. I find myself in this store every great once in a while. And I actually don't mind some of their clothes. With the selection of items this store has, I oughta give them 4 stars. The store is huge. The selection (as I've said before) The prices are reasonable The atmosphere is... Well, it's Gap. Why 3? I have shopped at gap for years. I went to this location a week ago and had horrible customer service but still ended up spending $200+. I gave it a second chance again yesterday and still had an awful experience. When I went to try on clothes there was no one in the dressing you to assist me, when I was done trying on clothes I was walking around with my 2 year old and a ton of stuff in my arms and no one employee asked me if they could hold my items at the front for me... totally thought that was rude. Sales people are sweet and super friendly, however.... Why on a Saturday afternoon is there 7 people (that I counted) working and only ONE person cashiering and why is the only cashier open on the side with no air. I like Gap cause you can run in and out, which is key with a toddler, but to shop and then have to wait in a long line when there's clearly plenty of employees working is kind of bewildering. I rarely write Yelp reviews but the customer service at this store is so bad that it warrants a negative review to hopefully get the attention of management/ownership. For the last 3 years I have lived and shopped right next to this location so I pop in from time to time to see what selection/sales they have. Sometimes I just browse, sometimes I try on and purchase. The customer services has been consistently, across the board appalling. I agree with the rest of the reviews that say they were ignored. Not one single time in 3 years has a sales associate: 1. Greeted me when I walked in the store (even if there was a sales associate present in the front) 2. Asked me if I needed help while shopping or informed me of deals 3. Asked me if I needed help or different sizes while in the dressing room, despite someone being in the back putting away clothes. In fact one time I asked a male associate if they had a different size and he said he didn't know and turned around to keep putting away clothes. Did not offer to check for me. What retail clothes store doesn't offer?? These are basic clothes store expectations and if it was one or two or even 3 experiences like this, I wouldn't say anything. But at this point it is just humorous how bad it is. When I do purchase something and walk up to the counter, there is usually no one there and when they do come up I am not greeted with a smile or friendly demeanor at all. These sales associates CONSTANTLY seem like they are working on a project (of changing the store or putting away clothes etc) and that THAT is their main focus, and the customers are just a distraction or interruption. Consistently. They talk among themselves about their project while standing right in front of and ignoring a customer that clearly looks like they could use some help. I also had the experience the other reviewer had where I was lectured for returning something with the tags removed 24 hours after purchasing. Its fine if they don't accept it that way but he accepted it while giving me a lecture about how they are "cracking down". There is a tall gentleman with an accent that is there often (manager?) and while I'm sure he is a nice person, he seems constantly focused on other things and treats the customers like they are an annoyance. It is seriously comical how bad his interaction with customers is. I like Gap and I love the convenience of this location which is why I keep coming back, but I'm assuming sales reflect the poor service and I'm afraid of this location closing, which is why I'm writing a review. Hopefully with enough feedback, management will make a change, though from these reviews it appears the service has been bad for quite a while. Seriously...to limit loyal customers' return policy to 30 days is one thing. To 1)refund only the sale price (even when a receipt dated 42 days ago on date of return is presented showing full purchase price paid ) & 2) then not apply a credit to their Gap card or credit card (even when they pay their bills in full on a timely basis) but instead send a refund check via snail-mail is so anti-customer service and so anti-green. For a medium quality clothing store, it seems assinine to impose such strict and foolish return policies,especially on this economy. I often buy clothing for my neices here and since they are getting more choosy with their clothing, I've often felt safe buying anyway knowing I could easily return items they may not like as much as I dud or that may not fit. I'm surprised this store has such low reviews. People expect someone to greet them immediately at the door when they had 3 employees working their butts off. Grant greeted me when he was on his way out to grab clothing for someone in the dressing room and later offered to take the clothes in my hands and set up a fitting room for me, how great is that?!?!? That's great service!! He runs back and forth between the fitting rooms and out front to assist customers while Jason is at the register ringing away. The third person was not as visible. Jason was so patient with the lady ahead of me wanting all sort of returns and discounts. I also had a return and his line was getting longer and longer as he remain calm while working diligently. This is the best GAP to shop at if you are short on budget. They recieve clearance clothes from other GAP stores and have the best selection of reduced price merchandise of any GAP that I have been to. The staff is very nice and always help me find what I am looking for. They even have adviced me a few time to come back the following week when the item I was interested in would be likely to be further marked down or available in my size. The only negative about this store is that it is small in size. read more

When I have asked for assistance I was given the look like I was crazy and that they can't be bothered by my questions. The sales associates at this store need to be retrained on their treatment of ethnic customers. I endured discrimination on multiple accounts at this store. They ignored me not once but 4 times when I asked for help. Each time, I was told that they were busy and then proceeded to walk away without recourse. They then proceeded to help another non-ethinc customer within seconds after ignoring my need for assistance. It is unacceptable for customers of any means to be treated in such a disrepsectufl manner. My experience in this store was horrible. I was shocked to be treated this way as we are in a era where discrimination should not exist. I will never shop here again. I have reported them to corporate in hopes that corporate will re-educate their employees to treat all customers kindly and with respect. read more

Came here recently and had a great overall shopping experience. The layout of the store is spacious, love the two front large mirrors near the door, bright colors, and the great selection of sale items! My mom and I found great dresses and Aubrey and Jason were great! Luckily I did find the sizes and colors I was hoping for, as Jason searched in the back, and while Aubrey called other store locations. I am a very frequent shopper at this location, probably at least a few times a month and this review is strictly for the cashier with long dark hair. I'm not sure if this woman is a manager or if she simply hates her job but her attitude is TERRIBLE. I wish I had her name but she never wears a tag and I only have her cashier #. Every time I visit this Gap and she's working I almost leave knowing my experience will be less than ideal. Today I arrived with a return from online and she hassled me the entire time making comments like, "I guess I'll do it for you this time.." I brought my receipt & was well within my right to return the item because I did not like the fit. In another similar instance this same woman refused to take my return @ all because the item was not currently in her store. Instead of arguing with her I went to South Coast where they returned my item without issue. If she could be relocated to another store I would be THRILLED, literally every other employee there is so friendly and helpful. read more
