Friendly service, great food and welcoming atmosphere. Kid friendly as well. A must visit.

    Pho so good

Best bowl of Pho ever..! Owner was friendly and sweet. Thank you for your hospitality. We traveled far and the yummy Pho made us feel like home.

It's pretty good. There is only one size pho and two choices beef and chicken. We got the beef. It was good and simple. Broth is tasty but has msg in it as I am experiencing that msg headache right now. Cest la vie We also had vermicelli beef. The beef in there is very tasty as is the imperial roll as well. They put the fish sauce in for you which I didn't expect. I usually pour it myself and prefer that. Overall. A nice seating area and friendly staff. I also had the chicken wonton soup small. Couldn't tell how much it is. I guess will see when I get the bill. There is free WiFi which is a plus. Overall nice to find a decent pho place in Quebec City despite the msg.

Food decent, it was a nice plate, service a bit more hands off. Could have refilled water once or even checked in on the table.

We came here between lunch and dinner time. The restaurant is quite big, with seating also available in the back. My bf had the beef pho. The broth was on the sweeter side and the slices of beef were thick. I had the bun cha gio with shrimp. The bowl is composed of rice noodles and imperial rolls with shredded lettuce, mint, pickled radish/ carrot, and cucumber. It is finished off with fish sauce. The onions threw me off, but overall it was a light refreshing meal.

It's great to found a Vietnamese cuisine during this cold weather. It is located about 20 minutes walkable from my hotel Fairmont. The restaurant was super clean even the restroom was nice too. I came here for lunch on Monday and it was busy. The owner greed us as we enter the restaurant upstairs. He was very welcoming and socialized since he he knows we are Vietnamese as him. The egg-roll was excellent in terms of flavors and texture. The beef noodle was okay. The pork/egg roll noodle was good too. The foods here really hit my craving for Vietnamese food since I want something different than French foods here. If I ever back in Quebec, this will be my choice for Asian foods.

We were traveling in Quebec City during Christmas. Needless to say, it's cold, cold and very cold. We were craving a bowl of hot noodle soup and therefore walked into this place. Gao did not disappoint us! It has a new, contemporary interior design, clean, simple and comfortable. It's doesn't have a big menu, only serves a few Vietnamese dishes with different kinds of protein. We didn't walk in with a high expectation since it's in Quebec not NYC, but we both left happy and satisfied. Beef pho was great- good quality of beef and I didn't taste any msg from it (meaning I wasn't thirsty after drinking almost the entire bowl of soup). Vermicelli salad was legit, crispy spring rolls plus flavorful grilled beef. Definitely recommend it if you crave something Asian in Quebec City!

Visiting old Quebec for a few days and after 2 days, already craving for some Asian food ... not having much confident with the Chinese food here based on the review I see in Google , so decided to try Vietnamese food. The place looks clean with clean vibe and the staffs are quite friendly... the menu food selection is not a lot but it has soup noodles and that's what I want at the time so no complaints! Less food selection usually means kitchen can focus more on food quality! The beef Pho has one size only but enough to fill my tummy ... and the beef broth is very tasty , together with the bean sprout and the basil and lemon (prefer lime), it's a decent bowl of Pho. Comparable to China town in Toronto and Montreal ! I wish they would put in more onion and green onions into the pho as I love onions... but that's my preference .. The spring roll seems it's freshly made as it is crispy and hot inside ! I would come back if I ever visited old Quebec... and if u r visiting Quebec and u r a coffee lover, while you are here, go visit Cantook coffee roaster after pho, it's only like a minute walking distance away from Gao. Perfect if u want some after meal coffee .. which I will also write the review for Cantook in later days!

While it's true that I know what to expect when ordering Vietnamese fare in San Francisco I learned…read morethat doing so in Quebec City's Saint-Sauveur neighborhood is a whole different ballgame. Restaurant Jardin du Vietnam is an all-inclusive experience. Every meal here is a multi-course affair that moves from soup to appetizer plate to entree and dessert. Alcohol isn't offered but guests are welcome to BYOB and there's no corkage or other associated fees. It's fair to say that you'll leave Restaurant Jardin du Vietnam very full for a reasonable price even if what you've consumed looks nothing like your typical order from a Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco. The only decisions to be made here pertain to your choice of entree and dessert. At my table our entree orders included Poulet (chicken) Curry ($25.95CAN, and a bit one-note) and a Shrimp/Scallop dish ($32.95CAN, pristine but bland in flavor). The latter was chosen because it featured vermicelli (aka rice noodles) which are often featured in favorite Vietnamese dishes back home. But there's a silver lining here; the entire experience of the place is interesting and sort of fun and though the food wasn't my favorite version of Vietnamese fare I liked, overall, what was on offer. Several tables were filled with parties of 4, early and known to the restauranteurs, and covered with wine bottles, evidence that Restaurant Jardin has a local fan base. The restaurant itself is authentically ornate and unique to the area. And the multi-course experience is leisurely and enjoyable. Accompanied with such reasonable prices (1CAN$ = .75 US) it was easy to imagine how Restaurant Jardin could become a favorite amongst locals seeking something a bit different. It might not have been my favorite version of Vietnamese fare but I enjoyed the overall experience.

Their price is ridiculous for their 1 size only Pho and Hue. Back home in Ontario, you would be able to get a a XL pho for $15.50. The Pho here was so small, it barely had any noodles. Normally I never drink all the soup but this time I had to drink it all because I was still hungry. They really do it different here with their Pho. They put the bean sprouts directly in the soup for you before they bring it out to you. I don't like my bean sprout fully cook and soggy. Also where the is the lime? Did they squeeze the lime in it for me too? Where are the basils? Meatballs? The taste of the broth is subjective, these guys went with a flavourful herbal taste instead of the strong beef taste. The Bun Bo Hue's broth was ok. Once again it was very small just like the Pho. Missing a lot of key ingredient again. The atmosphear was good. They did their best with the limited amount of space they had. Service was prompt. This place could be a lot better because their broth taste good but way too many ingredients missing.

It was okay. It gave us the spice fix we needed, but it wasn't authentic. I wish I could rate it higher, but I feel a responsibility to be critical when it comes to Asian cuisine. Too often, Asian food is watered down for Western taste buds. It's a disservice to the cultures it represents. Quebec City already feels deeply European, and I would love to see more pride in showcasing Asian food as it really is. Here's the truth: authentic food usually outperforms the "tailored-to-locals" version. People rise to the occasion when they're given the real thing. Sadly, what I often see--here included--is the opposite. Local diners leave thinking they've "experienced Asian food" when, in fact, they haven't. The first red flag was in the description itself: "Asian." Asia is vast and diverse. Expecting one restaurant, or one chef, to represent it all is impossible. It's like walking into a place that claims to serve all European food under one roof. Unrealistic by definition. So, no, Madame Phan isn't authentic. But it did serve its purpose: it gave us something spicy when we needed it. I just wish more restaurants here leaned into authenticity rather than compromise. Because authentic Asian food deserves better than this.

Quebec City isn't exactly known for authentic or high-quality Asian cuisine, so it's best to keep your expectations in check. This place is about as close as you'll get. The pho wasn't authentic--the broth tasted more like beef bouillon, so I'd skip that. The Thai chicken had a good kick of spice, and the General Tao's was actually pretty solid. Overall, there aren't many Asian food options in the city, but this place gets the job done.
