Great service and tasty food! The soup was delicious and hot. Pad Thai was a nice fusion of Thai and Vietnamese foods. Highly recommend for Asian food in Quebec City. read more

This restaurant is like visiting grandma's house for dinner. The owners are the chef and servers. They are friendly and talkative. The food was ok, nothing special except for the nice people cooking and serving it. The restaurant is a bit disheveled, just like our house when we cannot quite keep up with the chores. It was not a bad place to go as long as you have clear expectations. It is also a bit expensive at $15 for a bowl of soup. read more

Restaurant Asia - Thai Near Me - Quebec City, Quebec

Didn't eat there - when seated, looked over at the table next to us, and for the prices Charged, the portions were tiny. Plating wasn't very appetizing either. We left. read more

We had planned on having brunch nearby but the wait was long. Thought we'd give Asia - a try. The owner seemed very sweet. Told us how long she'd owned the business (40+ years?) and how much a struggle business has been over the decades. It was a lengthy story - We could tell pretty quickly - that it would be even more of a lengthy meal if we ordered lots of things - and we wanted to hit some museums so we decided to order just two appetizers for the 4 of us... The owner tried to push more food - also wanted to push some strawberry lemonade drink that was $8. We held firm at just two appetizers - and water. Everything was fine - then we noticed an employee go out the front door and come back in w two boxes - that contained our appetizers - and one of the boxes was clearly marked w Kirkland - the tempura shrimp appetizer was definitely from Costco...yea - no. read more

Service was amazing. And the rest was awful. Overpriced and the worst Thai I have had. Frozen veggies, noodles, and mediocre sauce.

The taste of the food is not what we expected! The taste isn't that good! In addition, the owner took the USD that my family paid with without our knowledge and never returned the change. read more

Loved the food. We had pad Thai and salad rolls. Very fresh and delicious. The ownership was very helpful and brought the food out to our car when ready. read more

Just don't - especially the sushi. Sketchy and the restaurateur kept telling us how fresh it was like they were trying to convince themselves of this, too. read more

This little gem was a delight to stumble upon while waiting to check in to Hotel Priore! Not fancy, small like a China town dive but amazing flavor to our coconut curry soup and pad Thai with more shrimp and chicken than most ! It's historic so yeah will cost 25% more - think of the rent here! (I can't believe the other comments about price as I live in a resort area-Well worth it.) The owner makes you feel welcome like at grandmas house. She even insisted my teen daughter finish her meal, share or bring it home - and try the desert that was amazing! Warm up here away from the crowd on other end of old Quebec! read more

Don't go. The only time we have felt ripped off in Canada. 2 bowls of tasteless soup with noodles and questionable meat (which animal?) - plus one chicken dish and some spring rolls. 175 DOLLARS. (Including tip). Yes. I had two beers. And the kids had two lemonades (14 dollars !!! for those babies) but they are here for your money and not much else. AVOID. read more

Very disappointed and not the best representation of Asian food. The restaurant's name make it seem like the menu is Vietnamese but it's not. When in Quebec, eat French read more

Great place for Pho Soup- They make their own sausage for the Meat Pho- You have to try the Fried Pineapple for dessert along with their green tea- We really enjoyed the whole meal read more

We had a hankering for Asian food after a few days of fried food in Old Quebec. We were seated quickly at an outside patio table and the owner came over with menus right away and welcomed us. She was very friendly. Our server was also very friendly (maybe the daughter of the owner?) came by quickly to take our order. We ordered 2 bowls of Pho (no price provided on the menu) and 2 friends ordered General Tso chicken and rice. Our beer arrived quickly as did the spring rolls (small rolls for the cost at ~$15 for 4). The 2 bowls of pho arrived shortly after, and while flavorful, it was small, with 2 meatballs, cut in half and a few pieces of beef. The herbs were already placed into the pho broth upon arrival to the table. We sat for a few minutes so that our 2 other friends could receive their food before we started eating, but their General Tso chicken did not arrive, so we started eating, as the pho noodles would absorb all the broth and get soggy. 30 minutes later, still no General Tso chicken, and we had finished our pho. One of the staff noticed that 2 of the 4 guests were nearly finished their meal and asked our server what was happening, and she said the kitchen was working on it. We waited for a few more minutes and asked the server to check on the order, and she said "We have 2 kitchens, your order is up next"--this was very surprising as it had been at least 45 minutes since the order was taken, and they had not started the 2 remaining dishes. Since they had not even started to make the other meals, we decided to cancel them and settle the bill. The server apologized for the mess up and comped the spring rolls. One of the people who did not receive their food, had a beer--the beer was not comped--which we found odd, since he was most inconvenienced by his food not arriving at all. When we went to settle the check, the pho was $22!! Way too expensive for what we received. While the server apologized profusely for the lapse in service, it did not save the evening for us. 2 of 4 people had dinner, while the other 2 watched and patiently waited for their food. While the staff seemed nice, the spring rolls were average at best (and overpriced) and the pho was WAY overpriced. Also, if a restaurant has 2 kitchens to put out food (one for noodles and one for stir fries?), it would only make sense that the food would come out together--this is not an unreasonable expectation from a guest in a restaurant. read more

Best food in Old Quebec! Friendly staff, owner is personable, funny and kind. Good portion sizes and excellent flavors.

The absolute worst Vietnamese food, if you can call it Vietnamese or food, that I have ever had the unfortunate displeasure to eat in my entire existence. The noodles were from instant noodles with watered down broth that I dare to say that plain water tasted better. The wontons are from "yester-year" (not even yesterday's leftovers). Please do yourself, and your taste buds, a favor-- go to McDonald's and you'll have a better and cheaper meal. read more

liked what we ordered. not sure why this place has just 2.5 stars , totally unfair IMHO. We ordered Ramen, Tao chicken, Fried wontons, Pad thai etc. and everything tasted well and was fresh. Service was decent, something i would not complain about. Old lady whose one of the owners was really sweet and suggested fresh red chillies for making my ramen spicy and it was worth it :) Give it a shot !! read more

During our stay here we ate here 2 times. The first time was so good our boys insisted on us coming back before we left for home. We ordered the crispy noodle dish, pad Thai, and the yellow curry dish. All were made fresh with great flavor. The owner and her daughter were there and they were extremely friendly and loved my boys. They even sang Happy Birthday and brought him local strawberries with fresh whip cream and a sparkler. read more

Absolutely awesome! We got the curry and the soup. Excellent flavors and great service!

Pad Thai had very little spice and shrimp was a bit dry. Teriyaki chicken and General Tao was so so and vegetables were from frozen. Thai beer was good and they made an excellent fruit blended drink. The food was very expensive for what you get. Staff was friendly. read more

Worst restraint we have ever visited. The waitress was very rude. Service was super slow. Won't recommend to anyone.

This restaurant isn't fancy, but I loved everything we ordered! My husband had teriyaki chicken and I had the Pho soup. The ingredients were so delicious and fresh, no msg. The owner definitely knows how to serve great food! Anyone who knows what good fresh food tastes like will love this restaurant. Very clean and Ms Pham was amazing to talk to. She is a chemist and knows what is good for your body and that's all that's in the food! Thank you for a delicious lunch! read more

This place is an absolute gem!! The food is incredible, and the service is wonderful. We were there last night and had a great conversation with the owner and her daughter, they are both really sweet and fun. We had the curry chicken soup and I seriously could eat it every day, it was that delicious! The shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce were the best I've ever had in my life. So yummy! We are only in town visiting for a few days, but I wish we had a place like this in my hometown. We will be back again for more deliciousness before we head home to the U. S. and next time we're here for sure! read more

I'll start off by saying the food here was actually good enough. The service was just not up to par. The 50ish woman who was serving us, who appeared to be the owner/manager, behaved erratically the entire time that we were there. She bumped into me or our table a few times, and drew on me with her pen (accidentally, I assume), while pointing out something on the menu. I found myself wondering if her mind was going. There was another woman, perhaps 10 years younger, who was a bit more stable, along with a man in his 20s who appeared briefly. First, we ordered 2 items from the lunch specials. My companion ordered some tea to drink. I ordered the one beer that was available on tap. I don't recall what kind of beer it was, but it was passable. After at least a half hour had passed and several tables that arrived after us received their food, our server appeared to tell us they forgot our order. She asked us what we ordered and said it'd be the first order out. She still hadn't brought the green tea at this point. After another lengthy wait, watching more other tables receive their orders, the food appeared, brought to us by the younger gentleman. The food tasted ok - passable at least. We reminded them again about the tea, which eventually came when we finished our meal. Unfortunately there was a greasy film over one of the teas, which may have been from a dirty glass. We told the servers, but I think some of the message was lost. I paid inside with the younger of the two ladies, and chose not to leave a tip. She noticed, and asked me why I didn't leave a tip. I started to explain why, starting by telling her that the order was late/forgotten. She argued with me and told me they brought our order out right away. At that point I decided that listing the other reasons wasn't going to accomplish anything. As we left, I saw her discussing this with our server/manager, who at this point was sitting in the window counting money or something - no doubt thinking they had done nothing wrong. read more

Surprisingly good! We stumbled in here after all the other restaurants in the area were booked up. It isn't exactly what you would expect from traditional Asian food, but all the flavors were excellent. I highly recommend the tempura shrimp as an appetizer and the fried pineapple for dessert! read more

Coming from NYC where good Asian cuisine is not in short supply, I was expecting to be underwhelmed. The food here, however, was excellent -- and very well priced. Dinner for two (including appetizers, entrees, desserts and a bottle of the house red wine) ran just $70. Service was excellent, and owners were very friendly. read more

We were lucky enough to visit this restaurant while the owner was around and she told us all about the history of her business as well as about her food. Being a vegetarian this place is a goldmine. They will make any of their dinner plates vegetarian! I asked for a chicken curry dish made vegetarian and they didn't even blink an eye. We got the vegetarian fried wontons and they were AMAZING. The dipping sauce was so good. Dinner was really good. Some unique flavors, for both mine and my husbands. My husband had a meat dish and said it was good, somewhat average. My crispy "chicken" (tofu) and curry dish was very good. Would recommend! read more

Well this was a strange find for us. We were exploring the bottom part of the old city and in this strange, nearly abandoned, artsy street we came across Asia. Given that our other options near by were sea food places, we settled on some Asian food. The weather turned to crap so we sat inside. The menu was easy to read and they had a vegetarian option. Everyone but me ordered something meaty. As I recall, the server spoke English and we had no problem ordering. The food came out a bit later than we hoped but at least the appetizers quieted our hungers. The veggie plate was mediocre at best. Way too much tofu and not enough veggies. Disappointing. Our friends enjoyed their meals and offered no major complaints read more

Really low-end experience, if you have tasted Thai food before you will be disappointed. Lucky the portions are very small! They are probably surviving only because location and jacked up prices... will not go back again. read more

The absolute worst Asian food ever. Petite portions and pricey. The food was bland, overcooked, old and cold. They brought in the food from their other restaurant next door. The owner served us and was rude and then expected a tip from us at the end, sorry/not sorry no tip. They never came to our table once after we got our food to ask if we needed anything more. There were four of us and we ordered 6 dishes, we're not big eaters but we were still hungry when we finished and had to stop at another place to get more to eat. Do not eat here, save your money. Next evening we ate at Buffet de L'Antiquaire just a 2 minute walk from this place and the food was amazing. Wish we had known about Buffet de L'Antiquaire earlier. Why anyone would give Restaurant Asia any stars is unbelievable. You're better off going to a grocery store and buying some bread and cheese if you're hungry and can't find any other restaurants open near by. read more

Absolute waste and shame ! Tourist trap. Must be avoided at all times. They don't know how to cook Asian food, period. Everything is old, over fried and drenched in awful sweet sauce from the bottle. The owner is a shameless hustler. Nothing is edible at that place. Negative 10 would be an appropriate rating. read more

Pros: they could seat our party of 8 immediately on a Saturday evening, and the hostess was very friendly. Cons: they could not efficiently SERVE our party of 8. It literally took one hour and 20 minutes from when we sat down to when the main courses arrived. From the few reviews here on Yelp I was hoping for some good food once it arrived, but the dishes looked so similar that the server couldn't even tell what was what. The food was no better than mediocre. read more

Mediocre food, looked like warmed up in the microwave, we waited about 1h between the end of our main course and the offer for a dessert. Which by the way, a "foret noire" (not sure about this one) cake is not typically Asian. As we were able to understand, they lost te order of the table beside us and they were prioritizing tables of four and up as there was no couple waiting for a table. This was the reason given by the owner for our slow service... read more

Allow me to give an updated 2015 review of this little Vietnamese place situated in the heart of the Old Lower City in Quebec, QC. The other reviews below provide an interesting yet inaccurate view of what this restaurant provides. My family, a vegetarian foursome visiting from northern New Jersey, decided to "give it a shot" and try this place out despite its negative reviews. We were pleasantly surprised: it was EXCELLENT. At first, we were turned off by the confusing layout of the restaurant(s?), as this particular place is connected to Indochine Resto Express (which appeared as if it served meat broth only - heads up, fellow vegetarians), and we were not sure if the two restaurants were co-owned or connected in any way. Turns out, they both appear to be owned by what seemed to us a middle-aged couple, who tried desperately to shuttle us around between the two rooms and make sure that we, as vegetarians, were in the "right place." Eventually, the woman directed us to Restaurant Asia, where we sat by a large open window. She immediately told us that THEY COULD MAKE ANY MEAT DISH VEGETARIAN, either by substituting the meat with tofu or eliminating the meat/tofu concept altogether. It was lunchtime, so we ordered the Vegetarian Imperial Rolls as our appetizer. They were hot, fresh, crisp, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We ended up ordering a second round immediately after! And, despite what the reviews say below, the service was surprisingly friendly and quick. My mother really liked her iced tea and I really liked my lemonade: very sweet with just the right amount of tang. We ordered three plates of entrees, which ended up being the perfect amount of food: the Vegetarian Pad Thai and two tofu/veggie dishes, one with curry sauce and the other with peanut sauce. Let me tell you, it was a REMARKABLE meal. While the service was slightly disoriented and the layout confused and unclear, the food was so good and the owners/waiters so friendly and accommodating that this place earns itself a 5-star review. I definitely recommend Restaurant Asia to any couple or family with older teenagers who have a sense of adventure and a love of Asian fusion Vietnamese/Thai food. I really hope this place gets more publicity than it has in the past because it truly deserves it! read more

Very disappointed, bad quality and the taste never like Vietnamese or Thai. Only the server had a good service.

Beef pho here was on point! Nothing happy like having a delicious pho sitting outside in a delightful summer Quebec summer. The staff was super friendly, and Sapporo on draft was great and ice cold. Service was impeccable. read more

They brought tea in a dirty cup, there was a gross oily film on the tea. They also took over 30 minutes to bring lunch. (Considering that we ordered lunch specials, that's pretty ridiculous. Overall horrible service. The food was sub par. I wouldn't recommend eating here, but they did have a reasonable patio. Having spent a few days in Quebec City, I'd say that patios are not in short supply. Overall, I'd pass. read more

Had a Tuango offer I was trying to use 3 weeks prior to expiration. The attendant was not able to cooperate with a reservation at any time of day (claiming the restaurant is booked up weeks in advance). Walked by the restaurant at 5 pm (the intended time for reservation), totally empty... Walked by again at 6:30 pm (after our meal somewhere else), the restaurant is only "half full", with at least 6 tables available. Don't bother go there... Or at least, don't bother buying an offer from Tuango (or another) to eat there. It is a waste of time! read more
