We had Ganser replace some windows in our sunroom four years ago. About 1 1/2 years ago while trying to open it something snapped inside the framework and cracked it and now are unable to open it. After numerous phone calls and other correspondence, the issue is still not resolved, just one excuse after another, even if they bother to respond. This window is still under warranty and should be covered. One should not have to be Olympic weightlifter to open a window. They were great at installing but when it comes to service after the sale this company is non-existent. read more

TLDR: I was excited & treated really well, then wasn't after we paid. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. The cost does not match the quality or customer service. Full Story: We had our house resided 2.5 years ago, and knew we were chose to go with a more expensive company, simply because of the value they "sold" us & how we thought they were the "cream of the crop" in Madison. While there was a long wait (Covid deliveries) when they finally gave us the call, our house was completely stripped down and resided in a matter of days. There were about 15-20 guys working in the dead of winter. (I'm talking double negatives) but they were determined to get it done. The house looked great once they were done (as much as we could see in the winter). I was STOKED. Then things got weird. #1 - We had 2 weeks to submit the final payment, and within a few days we had calls asking about it. We gave them a date, and continually got called. It was weird. We finally gave them a check (within that 14 days) the guy looked relieved. One of the guys tells us the entire company is going through a major "crisis" and people are being fired / let go / whatever. Our sales guy had to leave, our main contractor left. (I'm assuming this was why they were so eager to get a check?) #2 - One of their former workers showed up at our door asking to borrow $20. Mind you, I was super friendly with everyone while they were working - it was super cold, but I made sure they had coffee each morning & snacks. But. really? Showing up to my door asking for money? #3 - A couple of months go by and spring comes, we go out to really inspect and find quite a few issues that aren't ideal, but I was giving a bit of grace as it was cold and they were so fast and it was minor. But then: Spring storm comes and the same piece of our siding comes partially off. We call Ganser. nothing. We call Ganser again. Someone comes out and "fixes it". Summer storm - guess what? Same piece comes partially off - We call Ganser. nothing. month 2 - We call Ganser again. nothing. month 3 - We call Ganser again. nothing month 4 - It's close to thanksgiving We call Ganser again. nothing. month. Holidays pass and still no word. The next spring, I call - they send someone out within a day or two and "fix" it again. I don't need to tell you what happens next - Spring, Summer. repeat. This time the entire piece of siding get ripped off. My husband starts the call - no response - call again cycle. Once they finally decide to call back they send someone out, the one guy fixes it and attempts to leave. I noticed it was short - and called him back before he drove off. The other guy there, moves it a little, and he bolts the piece into the house. Tells us it's totally messed up and will need to be replaced. We call Ganser while the guy is here, and tell them. That was at least 4 months ago.... we were told it'd be fixed "correctly" this next time but they need to order stuff and have someone come out. We've called. We've emailed. We've sent pictures. NO RESPONSE. This is really a last effort attempt to get some sort of reply, before we figure out what other options there are. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. We worked with Ganser nearly 5 years ago to replace three, 2-panel windows. The installer was friendly and the installation was seamless and timely (it was expensive as all windows are). We financed the cost and it worked out very well. The windows have held up over the last several years very well and operate as if they were new. Frankly, we haven't paid much attention to them since they were installed. Recently however, I had to remove the screen to trim some trees outside the upstairs windows. When I was done, I tried to put the screen back to it was near impossible to get back in (actually, it was impossible for me). I pried it, pushed it etc. and could not figure it out. I called Ganser after about 2-weeks of trying and they said they'd have someone call me. Shortly after, Nate, who I believe is in Sales gave me a call and said he stop out the next day after work to check it out. Like clockwork, he called after he was done with work, masked up, and stopped by to help me. After about 5 minutes of jiggering the thing he got it in and saved me a costly service call. This is the kind of friendliness, helpfulness and service every company should strive for. While I realize Nate is just one person, he clearly had the best interests of his customers (from no matter how long ago) and his company in mind knowing that THIS is how you do business. I can't thank Ganser enough for hiring people like Nate for their team. Well done folks! When we are in the market for updates on doors, siding, windows or roofing they will be the first company we call and I would suggest you do the same. read more

Our roof leak was dripping onto our new grand piano. They fixed it! in spite of the remote and difficult-to-=discover location, they would not leave till it was fixed. I've done some roofing myself and I would never found this leak I believe some roofers would have given up, but not Ganser (great detectives!) It was discovered during a fireplace insert project that the flashing around my chimney was installed incorrectly and leaked causing the wood to rot. Ganser came, matched the siding and did the work to replace all the wood etc. It looks great and the fireplace insert project commenced without a hitch. They were professional, courteous and, although were booked months out, actually were able to come earlier than expected. THEN Marc came and did an "Aloha" meeting with me to see if I had any questions or concerns. I will definitely call them in the spring to fix some siding problems (not related to their work). read more

Quite unhappy. Just before everything shut down due to the pandemic, we had requested some repair work. In addition we were upsold on new gutters. I was surprised to be told that the roof wasn't an "immediate necessity" as I new it to be older, but the gutters were (they had been working fine for me, but I'm not an expert). The crew on-site seemed professional and efficient. Afterwards, we found that not only was the leak that precipitated our initial call not fixed but the brand new gutters leaked between the roof edge and the gutters, too. I called to have them back out to repair the repair work and the new gutters. During the call I was reminded that the 2nd payment was due. I said I'd happily pay once the work was completed, but as the whole reason we engaged them in the first place still wasn't fixed I was reluctant to pay and have them stop returning calls. The repair person who arrived to service the issues informed me that, "Of course the gutters don't work, they're clogged with leaves! Ya gotta clean 'em out every once in a while." This would've been reasonable to admonish if: they weren't brand new as of a couple weeks before he showed up; it was spring time not autumn; the gutters were guaranteed not to require cleaning (at least during the sales process) because of the leafguard. I had no expectations that they'd never need to be cleaned ever, but certainly not MORE frequently than my previous gutters (which I cleaned once or twice in the fall and once in the spring). After I insisted that he watch a video of the leak in action he was adamant that this was somehow my fault. He did repair the gutters (though 6 months on they have begun to leak periodically in the same spot). Then when it came to the leak that spurred the initial call I was told that it was a big problem that would need to be fixed by a new roof. I asked why this hadn't come up in the first estimate and scope of work and was told that I must be wrong about what was discussed. Needless to say, after the repair person caulked the area that was leaking I called and asked for management. To make a long story longer the owner eventually returned my call, berated me, threatened me referring to the contract language stating that payment was due in full if "a substantial portion" of the work was completed. In this case, everything was complete, except the problem I needed them to fix in the first place. (Still leaks.) read more

Ganser came out last week and installed three new windows, gutters, soffit and fascia - the team here was awesome, respectful and responsive to any questions I had. They left my property cleaner than they found it! There was an accidental breaking of my cheap hose caddy- they replaced it the same day with one that matches the new color scheme on the house!!! I would highly recommend Ganser and will use them as I gradually finish the exterior of the house. Oh, and they don't try to up sell you or even sell you things you don't need. "Over-promise and under-deliver" needs to be the new company motto. For all they do in marketing and advertising there is an imbalance between hype and performance delivering results. I had a less than satisfactory experience with Ganser. Sales guy John was warm and helpful, the subcontractor Jay was great. The turnaround on this job was a huge disappointment. After sitting on my downpayment for over 5 months I got righteous and ranted. Finally the project started and finished fairly quickly considering this wasn't a huge or over-complicated job. Basically I felt like I was getting over charged for the run-around, and lack of response when I kept on the front desk asking WHEN my job would commence, followed by a tactic of passing the buck and blaming employees who were terminated, or management. My advice is to avoid working with this company unless you enjoy long delays, paying premium prices, and receiving empty promises. read more

Communication was not good. I had to call them several times as I never received a call back. The people were nice when they contacted us and part of the work was good quality but I guess I set my expectations too high. The product came with two pieces having defects and we were passed on to the retailer/installer instead of Ganser handling the replacement or at least the scheduling, which never happened. Ganser never called us back to tell us to work with the retailer/installer. The retailer/installer just called and told us that they were not aware the replacement needed to be done, the new product supposedly was sent to the wrong place and they had no one to replace the products and we just needed to wait a few more weeks. This is unacceptable. This was after 6 weeks of phone calls. I felt Ganser should work with the retailer not us since we contracted with them. This was very disappointing. This was three half day jobs which took over 3 months to partially complete. I tried to contact management 3 times but was told that I could voice any concerns with others. I never received any communication back from those others. For the reputation and price, I expected better communication, follow-up and work but I would say that it was a below average experience. I had scheduled a roof inspection with them this fall. They sent someone out, and the guy had dress shoes on. Good outfit choice for a roof inspection, right? Also, when I made the appointment I warned them it is a three story house, so they will need a very tall ladder. The person who came didn't even bring a ladder. He asked to use the bathroom in my house about 5 mins after he got there (unprofessional!), said I needed a new roof, and didn't even go up on the roof and inspect it. Said he would send someone by later that day to take a look. Never did as far as I could tell. No follow up whatsoever I called the company to say hey what's up with that. They didn't even offer to send someone else out. I guess they just don't need the business. read more

Ganser Company is BY FAR the most despicable and dishonorable company I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with. My disgust with their service and the way they've treated my wife and family is truly visceral. We were duped by their brand and flashy showroom and their claims of quality service and accountability. Here is our experience. We signed a contract for window replacements in August, 2014, and put $11,000 down on the project. Emails from Ganser state the project would be finished ("at maximum") in November. We knew nearly immediately things were being mismanaged, as we emailed and emailed and heard nothing from Ganser about our project until late October, when we learned we got a new project manager (our first was fired), who started yelling at my wife when trying to find out when the project would even begin, or if they could prove they even placed our order. That project manager was fired, too. The agreement we signed with Ganser states that they will start the project within 90 days. Our third project manager, reached out to us and asked us to sign a change order 92 days after we signed the contract to extend their window to work on the project. We did, hoping for a fresh start. They said then they'd likely get started in December. That month comes and goes. My wife's fed up, she's washed her hands of dealing with Ganser. She feels like they aren't treating the project fairly because she's a woman. She asks me to deal with them from now on. Fast forward to January 20, 2015 -- 5 months after we signed the contract. Ganser finally shows up and we learn then that they ordered the wrong French doors, and two of the windows Ganser ordered the manufacturer doesn't even make. We'll need to wait longer. In addition, Ganser removed one of our windows before realizing the new one was broken, so we had a piece of wood over one of our windows for more than a week in the freezing temperatures of Wisconsin winter. I am told by my project manager they'll do something about my experience on the final bill. On March 20th Ganser finally completes the project. Our two and a half month project took seven painful months -- more than half of a year. Here is one of the most shameful actions of this whole debacle that really disgusts me. I have two 9 year old girls and a dog, who frequently play together in our yard. Ganser, who claims to be a family-friendly business, took no responsibility or showed a single sign of concern for my family's safety as I picked up and filled a grocery bag full of rusted nails, dangerous screws, sharp glass and shards of plastic siding I found all over the yard, just waiting to slice or puncture a paw or child's foot. No accountability, no responsibility. I asked for a price adjustment, in recognition Ganser didn't deliver the quality customer service or experience that I was paying for. I then learned I have a new project manager (my 3rd one had left the company), a brand-new employee who had been with the company for two weeks to discuss my displeasure. The poor kid took copious notes as I shared this story, and gave him my bag of glass, nails and shards for him to share with owner Travis Ganser as physical proof of the type of service I received. Three days later I received a notice by Certified Mail that Travis Ganser intends to file a Claim for Lein on my house. A truly revolting experience from start to finish, from August to March. I strongly urge my neighbors, friends, and others to look anywhere else if they want a company who will respect and treat them fairly, care for their safety and one which they can trust. read more

We were very pleased with the work done wrapping our old rotted windows and installing new gutters. Effort was taken to match existing trim and siding. Our only complaint was that we had to wait quite a while for the work to be done, but we are very happy with the finished product! read more

We had our roof done last year. I wanted to wait a year and see if anything was a problem. Our ice dam is gone. They made the roof look very nice and the color is still nice and bright. Their price was great (got them on angie's list and it came with a coupon). They advised us on our skylight and fixed the leaking issue. Overall they were great. Only snag we ran into was someone forgot to get the permit. When I got the letter from the city, I contacted them and they took care of it. They were quick and professional. We chose them due to the people coming to look at our house and roof also educated us on some of the options as well as what was going on with our ice dam issue. Would recommend to anyone. read more

!!!Buyer beware!!! Typical sales over promising what the office can't deliver. We got 40$k worth of windows and doors installed about 3 months after we signed the deal (conveniently just under the 180 contractual day guarantee) The installers were great and I'd trust them with my children...but from a customer service standpoint the office is subpar at best. Voicing concerns with them won't get you anything but a gift card - even if they forgot to order a window and didn't measure another correctly. Yeah the guys rehung three blinds - bfd- that probably took all but ten minutes to do and we were made to feel like they did us s solid. They still have yet to apologize for messing up our order and not communicating anything with us-I don't expect it, at least not anything substantial or with sincerity, from them now that I know how the Gansers conduct their business. You're not really customers just profit and another job. read more

UPDATE: After I published my initial review, I received a call within an hour letting me know that my work had been scheduled for the next morning. A worker showed up an hour earlier to get started, and completed the work satisfactorily. In fact, he did a fine job. While he was there, Nate showed up and introduced himself as a marketing manager for the company. He listened attentively as I gave him a friendly but honest account of my experience with Ganser. He noted that they were working to improve their customer service - even having removed some people from positions that met with the public. My experiences with the workers who showed up to examine my roof and provide estimates and do the work were friendly and fine. I emphasized their need to be communicative with customers and I felt my feedback was heard and responded to. I've updated to 4 stars because of that responsiveness, and the final quality of work performed, which was fine. I only wish the timeline had been shorter. read more

WARNING.........BAD SERVICE...........AVOID IF POSSIBLE Just had the most unacceptable customer service I could ever experience as a Realtor. Set an appointment this morning with Ganser for my client that is selling his home. Needed to review, repair, and or replace an Anderson Doo that was rotting at the bottom. Appointment was scheduled and confirmed for 2pm. I arrive at 1:55 and by 2:15 the Ganser tech is not there, I make my first call to Ganser customer service, they confirmed the appointment, did not know why someone wasn't there, they would call the tech, and they would have someone call me right back... There was no call. Tech is still not there so I called again at 2:30. Same conversation, customer service said they had the job scheduled and could not understand why someone wasn't there. This time they said they would call the "on Call" person and have them call me pronto. The call never happend. With another appointment to attend, I left the property at 3pm. Still no calls from Ganser. I place another call at 3:30 and customer service tells me the tech that was scheduled called in sick at 1:58 because one of his kids was sick. I explain that I have a rotting door and need to reschedule as soon as possible, preferably for Tuesday. Fortunately, customer service is able to schedule for 10am Tuesday morning. Finally, we are getting somewhere.............then it happens. The kick to the teeth, the gut shot, the insult. Please keep in mind that I wasted over 2 hours of my time waiting for a Ganser tech and now customer service is telling me that there will be a $250.00 service charge because the property is being sold.......WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? I quickly told the customer service person that there would also be a $250 fee for poor service and for the tech to have a check ready when they arrive. She naturally thought that was ridiculous and she is correct. It is ridiculous to charg my client a service fee because Ganser failed to do as promised. Ganser, you failed to show up! Your customer service has made your problem everyone else inconvenience. I understand that things happen and a sick child should take precedence. I get that, but just tell the truth instead of making excuses. Customer should not have to make 3 phone calls to the company from.....is not a good thing. A great company would admit their mistake and do everything within reason to make things right. Setting a 10am appointment for tomorrow, Tuesday, was a great start and appreciated........ but now you want to charge a $250 fee that comes out of left field..... especially after you have screwed up......... I am responding to a complaint I made to BBB and YELP on May 24, 2019. ID 13579654. I have been contacted by Jay, Production Manager with Ganser, on May 29, 2019 at 1036am. Per Jay, he had not received any messages from myself regarding the damages to my ceiling. He was apologetic reiterating that Ganser is a reputable business and all employees are held by high standards. Jay explained the damages were 100% from ice dams. He explained how ice dams form. He further explained he had conversations with Ray, man who replaced shingles and vents, my attic is dry as is the drywall, no damages in my attic. Jay explained Ganser will repair the damages to both ceilings, but I am responsible for painting. Jay stated he will call David Hare with Hare Plastering to repair my ceilings. Jay and I discussed that I would contact both BBB and YELP as we have reached an agreeable solution. read more

I was desperate. Our old house came with an attic fan with moving louvers on the gable vent. Every fall, the first wind storm blew these louvers off the house. Winter was setting in! Snow was falling! My attic was open to the elements and the squirrels! I needed HELP! After calling several "roofing" places that also advertised for attic ventilation repairs, I called Ganser Co. which also advertised a "Handyman" dept. A REAL person answered the phone!! She told me the person who did small jobs would call me back and they DID that day! He said he'd come take a look and did, in 2 days and said he could fix it the following week. I did have to make the followup call and find out the details of price and when he was coming- but once we settled on a date and fair price (I had gotten some other crazy high bids for just coming out to look)- he showed up: ON TIME! Fixed my problem! Price came in a few bucks UNDER estimate!!! and this job involved a 2 ladder climb up to the high gable in the snow and freezing cold. Tim was nice, cheerful and did not complain. I now have a nice fixed louvered screen on that fan opening. I would recommend the Ganser Handyman Dept. read more

I'm so happy that I went with Ganser on my project to turn my screened in porch into a 4 season! I did my due diligence getting multiple quotes and ended up with Ganser. They offered constructive opinions as I wasn't sure what I wanted to have on the exterior and I took their advice. Their quote was more than competitive with other companies offering similar exterior treatments. My porch exterior has a clean, finished look that I had hoped would look good, but it turned out far better than I would have expected. The crew worked in sub-zero temps and were completely professional. I will be contacting them for future projects! Hands down. read more

I was so excited when a Ganser sales rep stood in my living room in early June and reported they were 4 months out for window installation, which would have put my project to be started by mid October. I signed all the paperwork, applied for a massive loan, which I'm currently paying on, only to learn on 7/28 that the estimated week of install is Nov 26th!! Needless to say, I was VERY upset and disappointed that the 16 week "estimate" was now over a 5 months (6 months from the time of me signing). I received a call last week indicating that now my project is on track for the week of December 10th!!!! I am a reasonable person and understand that the recent flooding and heavy storm season SW Wisconsin has endured will push projects back, but why would someone lie to my face about what the longest wait time might be, only for it to actually be months and months longer than what a company likely knows what it will be. It will likely be bitter cold and snowy by then, which will probably put my project even more out. I'm currently dealing with wasps finding their way into my home due to the window conditions I was desperately wanting to get fixed by mid fall, and will probably have another winter of $300/month energy bills due to their inefficiency. In the future, please relay to your sales rep not to give any dates, estimated or otherwise. Now it's a waiting game on my end and there is not one thing I can do about it. read more

Got sliding glass door replaced. The installation was perfect, love the quality, and it works great. My main problem is that they are understaffed and it took them about 6 months to get a half day job done. Also they led us to believe that although it was scheduled to be done in 6 months, that most likely they could slip it in between jobs much sooner, which didn't happen. It was very misleading. If they give you a date when it is scheduled know that that is most likely when it will happen which is perfectly fine if you are not in a rush. The price for the door was meh, quite high, but the quality is there. I probably won't ever have to replace it. Apart from the time table the job went well and I'd recommend them. read more

With so much competition, you'd think they'd want a positive referral source. My recommendation would be to find any other company to work with than Ganser. We signed for a new roof and gutters in mid-October. A couple weeks later, a "Fall Special" was advertised for free gutters with the purchase of a roof. Any other place (i.e. Best Buy, Kohl's, Shopko, Home Depot, etc.) would make a price adjustment. Not the case with Ganser. They're more interested in a buck than creating goodwill and making a possible good referral source and source of potential future work. You can be sure we'll find any other place to take our future business to and that our recommendation would not be to do business with Ganser. read more

Ganser co. installed a walk-in shower for me. I am very pleased with the results. From my first meeting with their representative, I was kept informed of everything that was going to happen. The workmen were very courteous and kept me informed about everything they were doing along the way. When they finished up, they had ev erything cleaned up for me. Told I won a $1,000 bath remodel from a bridal show that was almost a year prior. I was thinking about getting my bathroom remodeled anyways, so we booked a consultation that was to come with a $60 restaurant.com gift card. In conversation at some point it came out that anyone who signed up got $1,000 off. It ended up still being really expensive, and we went with some other company that was around $2,000 cheaper than their estimate (which included the $1,000 off) Then I went to redeem the restaurant.com gift card... there's so many stipulations surrounding it that I'm not sure we're even going to use it. The whole thing from "winning" to this awful gift card seems scammy. read more

I strongly recommend that you consider other companies. If you choose to purchase services from Ganser, you should get absolutely everything in writing in the contract and have a lawyer review it. They were careless and disorganized - We were promised all work would be completed 2 months after contract signing. Instead, it took 7 months. - A subcontractor informed us that Ganser uses the same password for each key lockbox, which is how they access your house. - We found an open razor blade next to our baby daughter's bathtub - They put drywall over a live plug socket - They did not measure our mirrors correctly. As a result, they simply changed the plan without consulting us and put up 1 mirror instead of two - They did not measure the cabinets correctly and had to reorder new custom cabinets - Proper lead removal procedures were not followed exposing our entire house to lead dust - They did not pull building permits with the city - They never provided us with a schedule of work, so we had no idea when they were going to show up at our house. - We had subcontractors contacting us after the project was complete looking for payment. Apparently, Ganser company never paid them. - The wrong shower valve was installed. They had to break apart the drywall to replace it - The shower door leaked for months after the project was complete - Emails and calls went unanswered for weeks at a time - The tile pattern in the bathroom was not what we designed - Bathroom lighting was changed from what we designed without consulting us They were dishonest and arrogant - Their production manager yelled and swore at my wife and I repeatedly - When presented with our struggles, the owner of the company told me that it was time for me to "be an adult." - Despite the fact that we had multiple promises and commitments from the production manager and salesperson in writing, the owner told us he would honor none of them. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Do not recommend. I made an appointment to have a gutter added to one side of our house and a downspout extension. We even signed the estimate which included the appointment date. The appointment came and went and no one showed up. I called the next day and the office didn't even realize no one had showed up. They said they couldn't fit us in that day or the coming Monday, and didn't know if they could fit us in that entire next week. They said the work would only take a half hour, and they couldn't even fit us in. I asked if they had more than one person to work on gutters, and they said no. The person who was going to do the work said we couldn't pick up the gutter to install ourselves, and recommended we just go to Menards. They really didn't care at all. We were also supposed to receive an estimate for an underground gutter, and gutter guards. When I said we didn't receive it, they said they tried to send an email 3 times but it always bounced back. They didn't even think to call and say that had happened and ask for a different email. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. There are too many better options in Madison. I don't know how they'll stay in business with this kind of treatment towards their customers. read more
