I had a Jet controller that came loose and they blamed us for over turning the jet. This jet was not sealed and glued to the tub like the rest of the jet controls. Then Huff Pool and Spa charged me a service charge or a Jet control that has not been properly installed. I called the company and they told me that since I purchased a new winter cover for the hot tub I voided warranty. What does a cover have to do with a Jet? Both Huff Pool and Spa and QCA will do anything to say you voided warranty. Run far away from this spa company. Buy a Jacuzzi Brand, totally worth the money.

Between 2017 and 2019, my parents, my neighbors, and myself all bought the exact same 2 person hot tub from QCA, and all 3 of us have had problems despite taking very good care of our hot tubs. We each spent nearly $3k each on the hot tub. Both my parents and I had to replace our hot tub covers after just 2 years because they were disintegrating. By 2021, the circuit board on our friend's hot tub stopped working - they spent nearly $1k to repair and replace it. Just 4 years into owning our hot tub, the entire wood base of our hot tub crumbled and has literally fallen apart - the hot tub is totally unstable and unusable. We checked the wood base of my parent's hot tub & they are having the same problem with a rotting wood base. When we contacted QCA, we learned the wood used to build the base IS NOT pressure treated at all. QCA customer service has been non-existent. The purchasing manager (initials are RM) is extremely difficult to get ahold of. After 2 months, he finally offered me a measly $150 to repair 1 hot tub, even though it will cost roughly $1k (labor & materials) to hire someone to rebuild a new base. The manager has stopped returning emails and he has never returned a phone call. I have asked multiple times to speak with the owner of the company and have never heard from him or her either. We have not been able to use our hot tub since January 2023 and it is now almost May - still no resolution or response from the company. I would strongly recommend that you NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY - they have at least 2 formal complaints and 1 poor review with the BBB. Based on these other complaints, I know QCA will reply and say that some of my info is false, that I did not take care of my hot tub correctly, and they will "defend" their side of the story, etc. The bottom line is that QCA is not held accountable & does not take responsibility for poor quality products (ex - wood for a hot tub is not pressure treated, which seems like hot tub 101) or for their extremely poor customer service.

I had used another pool company for 20+ years and the customer service became so horrible that I switched. I was advised to use products in my pool that I didn't need and basically threatened to have services I didn't need in order for them to service my pool. When I switched to Blue Lagoon, Breanna got me started on a product called Supreme plus. This has been AMAZING. My water is crystal clear and so easy to balance. I'm using less chemicals than ever. I used to add PH+ about every 3 days, now it is about every 3 weeks if even that. Their team is so knowledgeable about how to deal with any issue that arises. I have a creek in my bad yard, so mustard algae likes to find its way in my pool on the backs of frogs and other creatures that come visiting. In less than 12 hours after putting in the chemicals they recommended, GONE! I used to be forced by the other company to allow them to open my pool if I wanted them to service my pool in other ways and after they opened it would take me 10-14 days to have my pool clear and clean and fully balanced - NOT ANYMORE. It used to be so cloudy when I opened. This is the 3rd year I've opened myself and each year it is easier and easier thanks to Supreme Plus. This year, I opened and I could see the bottom of my pool the day we took the winter cover off and 12 hours later (after vacuuming it) it was swim ready. Thanks to my use of Supreme Plus, I added the standard quart of Polyquat (algaecide) upon opening, but I didn't need to add any other chemicals to my pool except chlorine - all the other chemicals were perfectly balanced. Their customer service is A+++ and their knowledge has helped save me time, headaches and money. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a pool or hot tube. They will not steer you wrong and you will be so glad you entrusted your pool to them. Best of all, they are kind and helpful.

They reeducated me on the use of chemicals so that I now get great results with fewer chemicals. Not only do I think that is much healthier, but it has the added benefit of drastically cutting my annual chemical bill. On top of that, my pool is much clearer than it had been before switching to them. Finally, in addition to their great pool knowledge, they are always very responsive and friendly when I have a problem or question and make me feel like a valued customer.

Installed 6/21 Today 5/19/22...Just started putting filter and pump together and now I know why it leaked water at every point! The installer employed by Tri states switched my brand new strainer that I purchased in May 2021 and left me my old leaky one that was to be replaced.. How the heck could I be so DUMB AND TRUSTING!? I had already purchased the liner from Tri States in 2020 which cost me an additional $900 and accessories for the pool. It was left in Tri states storage until the installer brought liner & accessories to install 2021.. I don't even have a clue if all my items purchased were actually used. can't walk in the pool without feeling the metal under your feet..He promised me it would be like walking on the beach.. I have video of one crew member trying to break into cars on our property. Just watch your stuff.. Munson's in Galesburg and Macomb have been very helpful during this ordeal.. There is so much more that I could write a book on being screwed over by a reputable pool business! But…read moreit's not just this glorious no-maintenance-required just-hop-right-in-whenever amenity. Let me preface this with-- I have never been good at chemistry. (It is safe to say, I will never excel at chemistry.) To recap. The saga that has been my hot tub threw us down a rabbit hole of 1. flat work being done, 2. electrical being installed-- and then 3. an insane amount of chemicals being bought. There's pH increaser... and of course pH decreaser. We have bromine tablets and shock. There's testing trips. And a buttload more I don't even know... Originally, I was like-- eh, let's pop on Amazon and get some stuff. Well that quickly resulted in so many questions. We soon realized we required someone to help tell us exactly what we needed to do and how to do it. Alas, Blue Lagoon Pool & Spa. Located conveniently on the Coralville Strip. We went in and said we have this hot tub. They said... you need this. Away we went. Then a few days later we tested it and the levels weren't ideal-- we called. They said you need to do this. We did that... another few days later we test again. UGH. So we bring in a sample to Blue Lagoon Pool & Spa. We get a print out of what is up-- and a step by step plan on how to rectify it. Additional chemicals are bought. Boom. It is a work in progress. But having a local brick and mortar and ACTUAL PEOPLE to come to when we have no flipping idea what is going on with our hot tub is invaluable! The staff is knowledgable and friendly. There is a dog in the store, often, named Clover. Chemicals seem appropriately priced (though-- again, owning a hot tub requires a lot of them. It can get a bit pricey.) My only qualm is their hours are a bit hit or miss, especially on weekends. Just be sure to call ahead! Come give Clover some belly rubs and get your hot tub pristine wit the experts at Blue Lagoon Pool & Spa.
