The worst people from Tim Gamma down the line. He is rude, could care less about customers or their service. They must have way more customers than they can handle so don't expect anything about the experience to be satisfying. All about money for him and it shows. If they quote you a time to get the work done just realize they will tell you anything to keep you on their books regardless of how long it will really take. If your home or you are in danger from tree limbs they could care less. You can definitely do better than Gamma Tree. read more

My neighbor hired this company to trim (my guess) bushes on her side of the fence. The fence is mine, as well as about 5" on the other side of the fence. Gamma not only reached way over the fence onto my side to cut branches on the overhanging bush, but trespassed into my yard and cut a tree at the base completely destroying the tree. (trunk was about 8"). I spoke to the workers who called their boss. Boss said 'well, we have to cut the bush/tree at the best possible place for the health of the plant' . Okay, I can understand that and maybe that applied to a few of the branches cut on the bush. But if you look at the picture, some of the cuts were a good 3' back onto my side. I do not believe ALL of those cuts, so far onto my side, were necessary for the "good of the bush'. BUT the tree cut to the ground .... he said 'it's a fast growing tree, it will grow back quickly'. Ummm, yes, it's a fast growing tree, but an 8" trunk is still a couple years of growth and that is completely irrelevant to the situation. Your staff trespassed onto my property and cut a tree firmly planted on my side of my fence. Not trimmed the tree, completely cutting it to the ground. Didn't knock on the door to discuss it, just stealthly creeped into my yard and whacked away. Had I not been home, and happened to look out, it might have been weeks before I noticed. Which is probably what they were counting on, so I would not know exactly who murdered my tree. I am not satisfied with the bosses 'answer' and am still contemplating action. In my opinion it is clear the workers were not at all concerned about properly and legally completing the hired job. And that the 'boss' was not concerned about the legality of the situation and was just defending his workers shotty work. I would say this, they might do what you hire them to do, but beware that you might encounter unnecessary problems. It's my understanding that the homeowner is still responsible for the damage someone they hire causes to someone else's property. If you choose to hire this company, you should probably closely monitor the work being done. read more

My neighbors used this company to remove some trees. They downed one of the trees in my back yard without my permission. When I got home I saw the tree and had a message from my neighbors that they were so sorry, they did not know the workers were going to drop the tree in my yard. When I spoke to the worker about violating my property rights, he laughed at me and said they would clean it all up. I then called the company. The boss who returned my call apologized and said maybe they did this for safety, but he couldn't do anything about it now. They also damaged my neighbor's deck with a fallen limb. Would never use or recommend these people. Beware if they do work abutting your property. read more

Horrible company to work with. They came quickly to give me an estimate but then took weeks after I approved the estimate to get back to scheduling with me. Then while their workers were here they spent more than 50% of their time sitting idle in the truck or lounging on our patio furniture clearly milking the clock (so the estimate was for 1/2 day of work which really only took them 3 hours TOPS from start to clean-up). I told the owner this as well. Then in the process of cleaning up they took our beechwood that lookEd NOTHING like the wood they trimmed from out Ash tree and was displayed neatly on our deck and when I called to ask about it all Brian said was "I'm sorry". This beachwood had sentimental value to us. No offer to reduce our bill or anything. These guys are careless and will overcharge you for time not needed. read more

If you want a company that's going to do a good job, definitely call Gamma. What separates them from other companies though is how they treat their customers. In today's day and age, that is soooooo hard to find. I've dealt with so many companies that don't put their customer first, so dealing with a company that does means the world to me. I had a huge pin oak tree in my backyard, and I know that can't be an easy tree to cut down. of course when you have the right tools of the trade and all the necessary equipment plus the knowledge and experience, it makes it a lot easier. they did the job quick and they did it right. If you want a company that is going to go above and beyond, make sure you give Gamma a call. They are a stand-up company. read more

I got an estimate from them back in September of last year never showed up to do the job called in December of last year they said they would get to it that month never showed. This is not a company that trims trees, it's a place where they make excuses for why that can't do the job. Never use them. read more

Unprofessional. No show for months, just empty promises and a horrible lack of communication. Then I heard Tim Gamma (owner; nice, knowlegeable) on this weekend's KMOX gardening show say they work through the winter. Really? Still MIA here. It made me angry and frustrated all over again. Gamma was a good company we used and recommended for over 30 years, but no longer. Poor management is a self-inflicted wound that will ruin their reputation. 6 weeks ago, Gamma Tree provided a fair estimate to trim a several trees at my home. I have called three times the past three weeks to ask when the work will be done. The wait was long, but I realize the weather was uncooperative. Yesterday, Gamma Tree crew came to my house to trim the trees. The crew leader was Tim. The crew was excellent. They had a young man who climbed a couple of the trees. He did a superb job locating and trimming dead wood in the top of one of the trees. Later in the day, the owner of Gamma Tree came by to see if everything went well. This speaks well of Gamma Tree. I would recommend Gamma Tree for anyone needing their trees trimmed or removed. read more

I've been a longtime customer of Gamma. For a while they were outbid by another company. After getting a bid from this other company for my latest job I decided to give Gamma a try again. They were significantly less expensive this time. I have always known Gamma to be professionals. I have also recommended Gamma to friends and their feedback was similar. Gamma arrived on time, they completed the work promptly, the clean up the site thoroughly. While I'm not a fan of using chainsaws for pruning I understand it. Given that, the results were esthetically pleasing as viewed from the street. I have used Gamma for decades and--this is important--am familiar with how their work ages. The shaping and pruning choices they make add to the attractiveness of the trees over the years. We have used Gamma Tree for tree trimming/topping for years & always had good results. We have a river birch & get Japanese beetles in June most years. I called Gamma in Dec 2019 to see if they sprayed to prevent them & was told yes & to call in April to set it up. Called 4/22 & requested someone to come out & give us an estimate. Was told someone would look at the tree in 1-3 days & call with an estimate. Called again 5/5 & said we hadn't heard from anyone. Was promised Tom would be out on 5/6. Called 5/8 & spoke to Tom. He said he had been to our house but that they no longer did spraying in North County "because the area had changed". When I asked what he meant by that, after hemming & hawing, he said that north county was mostly rentals & they are focusing their business on West County where there was more money to be made. Why was I never told by the person answering their phones that they didn't work in north county? Why did Tom Gamma even bother coming to our house? Will be looking for a different tree service for future needs. read more

Extremely poor service. I will not use this company again. First contacted in October for estimate. Gentleman called me from my house the same day to give me an estimate and followed up with a detailed map of the work to be accomplished. Everything went downhill from there. After calling several times to make sure they were still coming, they showed up in January...unannounced. Luckily my wife was home that day to prevent them from cutting down the wrong tree. Large branches were cut back from the house (cuts made mid branch), but absolutely no other pruning was done...which was the main request. I contacted the office and they said they'd come take a look. Several weeks later I called to check status and was told they would come back. They did...unannounced...and proceeded to absolutely destroy two trees in the back yard and once again ignored a couple of trees with branches rubbing together or with obvious suckers that should have been removed. Worst $1950 ever spent. Update: leaves are starting to come in on my trees...clearly the job is worse than I originally thought. Dead limbs everywhere that should have been removed. I'll have to pay twice for the same job. Makes you feel sick. Taken advantage of. read more

this company had some kind of contract with the previous owner of our home. they had not talked to the previous owner for many months. in the meantime, we moved in to the home. without calling ahead to schedule a day and time to spray, they came on our property and sprayed pesticides, then left a door hanger saying your bill is on the way. the hanger did not have the previous owners name on it so i had no idea what they were trying to do. this is a real fun thing to come home to. i don't know what they sprayed on our property without permission, they say it's not toxic, yet it kills bugs and doesnt wash off on the rain somehow and the hanger says to avoid touching it and keep children and pets away from the spray until it dries....hmmm sounds toxic to me!!!!!! a company that has supposedly been in business since 1954 should have encountered this problem before. houses get sold. people move. therefore you should call ahead and get permission from the person you dealt with, and if that person doesn't answer the phone and give permission, you shouldnt put it on your calendar to show up and start spraying that property. this is common sense!!!!!!!! this is not the first time they have done this after properties changed hands!!!! they wasted their time and my time trying to figure out what they had done. according to another yelp reviewer this appears to be a habit of this company, even with someone who hired them to cut down trees, they failed to communicate and schedule a set time when they can show up with someone present, so the wife had to run out unexpectedly and stop them from cutting down the wrong tree. they appear to have a habit of just showing up unannounced, even after they have not spoken to the person they had a contract with for months!!!!!! read more
