Interesting board gaming store in Astoria. This little shop boasted an impressive amount of board / card games to choose from. There was a ton of Magic decks and expansions, as well as Star Wars card games. There were many obscure board games as well. The board games, many of which had a dungeons and dragons gameplay emphasis, were extensive and variable. One, called Scythe, was set in early 1900s and had a post-apocalyptic and Robotech feel all wrapped up in a steam punk blanket. The box even suggested game time - 2 hours, roughly to play a round. Shop had a very large area in back dedicated to game play, so much so that it served to detract from the place being a store. Perhaps that's where the real money was with this place, but the storefront ended up coming across as an afterthought, making the place overall a little off putting.

This store is located close to Steinway Street station in which you can take the E M R Trains Q66 Q101 Q104 Buses If you want to draft limited in MTG this store runs about 3 separate pods from 5pm - 10p You need to arrive before 5 pm most of the time to join the first pod they often fill up quickly before large tournaments. Store has a nice clean bathroom and a large screen to view pairings for each round . I also think the store owner is pretty cool and fair for handling the events and letting people know what's up!

These games are for rent, but they definitely got more titles since I took this!

While I did eventually get a refund, it came with incredibly rude customer service over the phone and a demand that I walk in person to prove the balloons were faulty. The party ended up with no balloons, and since it was a holiday, I had no way to replace them in time. Bottom line: don't buy balloons here unless you're okay with sad, sinking balloons that don't float and even worse customer service.

I have shopped there on several occasions for various gifts and decorations including balloons for my son's birthday. Today, I stopped there to purchase an Easter basket for my son. I initially picked up a wooden basket, but afterwards saw a cloth option and put the wooden one back. I asked the black man who is usually standing around in the store (not sure if he is the manager) if there were any other cloth basket options and he said no. I then went to checkout and pay for the cloth basket, while the cashier was ringing me up, he (the black man) approached me with another cloth basket. I initially thought he was trying to get me to buy two, but then he stated that I had two cloth baskets, I told him that I only had one, but he continued to assert that I had picked up two. He then asked to check the Trader Joe's bag I was carrying, which was shocking to me, my guess is that he confused the wooden basket I had with a cloth basket and I explained to him that I had previously picked up a wooden basket and showed him where I put it back on the shelf. I also then opened my bag to show him that I did not have another cloth basket. It was extremely embarrassing and humiliating to be essentially accused of stealing an easter basket. He did not apologize and kept mumbling about another bag. I obviously did not purchase the overpriced cloth easter bag, left the store and bought one at Target instead. I will never set foot in this store again and will make sure that my other mom and neighborhood friends will not either! I also unfortunately believe that this accusation would not have been made if I was a white woman. There are many google reviews about the rude customer service at this store, but the blatant racism was not something I was expecting and was very upsetting.

As a blind box enthusiast, It's nice to find a store that has blind boxes for different characters. The space is a bit small so be mindful of others when browsing through thr store. Remarkable and powerhouse store for your ups and downs of the collectible craze hitting market…read moretrends these days. The storeowners are always friendly and helpful--they even let you trade your opened blindbox if they have a sample open. This makes buying them much more stomachable. The assortment and variety changes all the time--one week i may stop by and not find anything tickling my fancy, another week I may drop by and find too many things I want to take home! You can sometimes call in on days they're closed to ask if you can visit upon appointment (they may be restocking, etc) and can accommodate if conditions are right, which I thought was a nice touch. There's a small section in the store that has seating so you can open your new toys on the spot and celebrate with glee or the gloom of disappointment if you don't get your favorite. The store is not huge nor tiny and so you could spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes looking at everything. There's generally much variety, but stock can be limited. They offer cheaper blindboxes realistically starting at $6 (cheapest I've noticed), to more expensive artisan collabs (up in the hundreds). So great place to take yourself on a date or pick out a gift for a friend healing their inner child. If you like this place, there's a Japanese stationary store right down the street too--I like to hit up the toy store and then take a stroll down the street to giddy myself up with more goodies as well over at Yoseka Stationary. Overall--I think this place beats out all the others when it comes to their variations and assortment of blindboxes, and the constantly rotating stock of what's in and available (more than just smiskis, sonny angels, labubus, hironos, popmart, etc).
