Interesting board gaming store in Astoria. This little shop boasted an impressive amount of board / card games to choose from. There was a ton of Magic decks and expansions, as well as Star Wars card games. There were many obscure board games as well. The board games, many of which had a dungeons and dragons gameplay emphasis, were extensive and variable. One, called Scythe, was set in early 1900s and had a post-apocalyptic and Robotech feel all wrapped up in a steam punk blanket. The box even suggested game time - 2 hours, roughly to play a round. Shop had a very large area in back dedicated to game play, so much so that it served to detract from the place being a store. Perhaps that's where the real money was with this place, but the storefront ended up coming across as an afterthought, making the place overall a little off putting.

This store is located close to Steinway Street station in which you can take the E M R Trains Q66 Q101 Q104 Buses If you want to draft limited in MTG this store runs about 3 separate pods from 5pm - 10p You need to arrive before 5 pm most of the time to join the first pod they often fill up quickly before large tournaments. Store has a nice clean bathroom and a large screen to view pairings for each round . I also think the store owner is pretty cool and fair for handling the events and letting people know what's up!

These games are for rent, but they definitely got more titles since I took this!

Kazumi has been my favorite manager for years--our encounters are always joyful--and today I also met Tamaki, who had a wonderful, welcoming presence. Normally my visits are a 9-10/10, but this time fell short due to Kaoru's behavior. After I politely declined a tray in the crystal section, she sucked her teeth and muttered something under her breath. Later at checkout, Kaoru -- a woman with a bob haircut) -- ignored my question until I repeated it, tossed my receipt at me, didn't bag my items, and walked away when I asked her name, telling me "it wasn't necessary". I also couldn't help but notice I was the only one who looked like me in the store at the time, which made the interaction feel targeted. This was especially disappointing because every other transaction I've had here has been handled with care. As a loyal, long-time customer, I hope Kaoru's attitude improves, because the warmth and professionalism I've consistently received from Kazumi and Tamaki are what make Toho Shoji such a special place.

I signed my daughter up for their summer camp about two weeks before it was to take place, and when I was on the phone with them signing her up, I asked how many other children had already signed up. They said there were three already signed up, but they were sure that more would sign up closer to the date. The night before the camp was to start, I received a phone call saying that they needed to cancel the camp because my daughter was the only child who had signed up. I asked how this could be when I had specifically asked and been told that there were already three kids signed up. They mumbled something about it not being their policy to lie and said that they would refund my money. In addition, they had never said that there was the possibility that the camp would be cancelled -- that would have been a red flag for me and I wouldn't have risked signing her up and then having no activity for her for that week. Very unprofessional -- I wouldn't go near this place again!

Big Dawg Possessions was created "by a fan, for fans." Adam Seidman, President of Big Dawg Possessions, is not only the sole owner of BDP, but he's also its largest customer. After several bad experiences with organizations that trade in sports collectibles, Adam decided to start his own company that would guarantee authenticity in all game signed articles, as well as promise the chain of ownership of all items. With this guarantee, every item has market and collection value. Whether you are searching for cleats worn by Rob Gronkowski when he scored his 1st touchdown, or looking to obtain the Combine shirt worn by your favorite player for his 40 yard dash, Big Dawg Possessions is the ultimate source for all your needs! In today's marketplace it is very difficult to know with 100% certainty that you are purchasing an authentic, game used item from your favorite athlete. The relationship that Big Dawg has established with today's top athletes as well as stars from the past gives us access to some of the game's greatest pieces of history. Like our clients, we are fans of the game, so we care about preserving the game's history and the collectibles from the biggest moments.
