I'm not a dollhouse person by any stretch, but Tiny Doll House on the UES turned out to be a surprisingly delightful stop. The shop is exactly what its name promises--an entire world of miniature rooms, furniture, and tiny accessories--but what makes it worth visiting is the sheer charm and craftsmanship packed into such a small space. Even as someone who doesn't collect dollhouses, I found myself appreciating the detail and creativity on display. The shop is filled with incredibly detailed miniatures and tiny, beautifully crafted pieces that are fun to look at even if you're not a collector. If you're already into miniatures, this place is probably a dream come true. No one really interacted with me while I was there. So the visit was more like browsing quietly on my own. It wasn't unfriendly, just hands-off. This place is cozy. The price is insane though. I understand that they are all hand made but it's honestly crazy. If you want any of the dolls for cheaper just go on Amazon because Amazon had sales. This place doesn't. Service is okay. They're nice for the most part. Though something in the atmosphere seems tense. Not sure but the items are indeed really cute. I suggest collecting and not building a doll house because the doll houses will end up being really expensive if you're on a budget. read more

Recently found this store for a small project that needed a miniature park bench. This store is filled with beautifully sourced miniature items that range from colonial kitchen to mid-century inspired furniture. The store manager told me that the owner has been in this business for 40 years and typically travels all around the world to source the best miniature pieces for his store. If you need anything for a doll house they got it! Period light fixtures yes, plants yes, furniture yes! (And much more!) Tiny Doll House was amazing and unlike its adjective, "Tiny," its inventory is incredibly huge, as well as unbelievably magnificent, detailed, and highly selective. Most of all, the inventory is specially curated, with many items being one-of-a-kind from world famous artisans in the field. My brother-in-law first introduced me to the place by bringing me some lovely pieces from his trip to New York City which brought a smile to my face during a very difficult time in my life. Then he took me to New York months later to personally introduce me to Tiny Doll House. Well, Mr. VISA was nearly smoking when I got done with my purchases. From dollhouses to furniture, tea sets to board games, charcuterie to seasonal decor, and tiny cakes to musical instruments, you really can find any and everything a dollhouse or a miniature collector would need! I was recently gifted precious items from here (a pink pig tea pot, a Chinese take-out box filled with lo mein noodles and a pair of chopsticks, and a pug with a dog bed) - I absolutely LOVE THEM!!! The details and the cuteness of these items are unreal, and I can't wait to add to the collection! I recently discovered the world of dollhouses and miniatures which led me to Tiny Doll House on the Upper East Side. If you've never been, it's a visual treat for the eyes. They sell dollhouses and just about every accessory and furnishing under the sun. Miniature cakes, cereal, beds, doors, even tiny bars of soap - they have it all. I've purchased tiny pasta, sauce, cereal, wine bottles, mirrors and farmhouse crates. Their focus is primarily on classic dollhouses, so if you're looking for new and modern decor, it's a little tough. Prices are actually on par with the miniature market, which is to say, pricey. If you think about it though, the labor and detail involved with making things in such small scale is high, so the prices reflect that. The hours are really structured for people who work from home or have time during the day to visit, which is a bit of a bummer. Even if they were open past 5 one day a week it would be great for those of us who work full time but still love our miniatures. The only other thing I'd mention is the staff. While they are very nice, the multiple times I've stopped by I've had one of two experiences: 1) I've asked if something is available (say, a mailbox) and was told no, only to find it myself while rummaging through one of their boxes. It's too bad they don't have a better way to track supplies. 2) I make my own dollhouses and since their business model is most successful if you buy one of their's, they are not as enthusiastic to help DIYers such as myself. If you're coming to buy supplies to build your own dollhouse, do your research ahead of time since they are hesitant to share their knowledge. One tip - there is a wall in the back right corner filled with wooden dowels, baseboards, etc. so you can definitely buy your own pieces and create things on your own. read more

This is a stellar, stellar dollhouse store -- one of the few lasting! The selection is great, and the set up is very conducive to finding lots of treasures. The store includes the smallest little items to many options for dollhouses and room boxes. The woman who was working here on this past Friday was also really sweet and nice to speak with. Don't go here if you are a minority. They make sure you don't feel welcomed in the store. I went in looking for items for my son's diorama and no one helped me but instead eyed me like my money didn't spend there. It's unfortunate since I contacted someone via social media days before. Sad that we live in a international city like New York and racism still is alive and well in some. read more

Even though it's an itty bitty store it only holds teeny weeny things so I felt like I was in a humongous miniature wholesale mart. As I entered and browsed around the lady at the register was talking really loudly on the phone with someone in Spanish the whole time and didn't seem to pay too much attention to me, which was awesome, because I was able to poke and prod around stress free for as long as I wanted. A few miniatures are behind glass, but for most of the pieces, I was able to just pick them up and take a closer look at them. Was close to just buying some just for the heck of coolness, but just cuz these things are smaller doesn't mean they're less expensive hah. read more

This is an amazing little shop full of treasures, but the owner was on a private phone call the entire time (20 minutes) we were there. We were the only customers. Between my love of dollhouses and my daughter's obsession with role play, I was prepared to buy her a beautiful house for her upcoming birthday. I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

You can spend hours in here just looking at the dollhouses, the models, the miniature furniture, and even dollhouse-sized bags of M&Ms (which, oddly, cost more than the real thing). Wow what a great shop for dollhouses and accessories. I shop here frequently, the staff is knowledgeable as well as creative and super helpful with tips and tricks. When I bought my daughters dollhouse I was clueless as to what I was getting myself into but they help guide me and in spite of any desire they may have had to make a big sale, they advised me to take my time, it's not a race, it's a project you should enjoy and build upon over time with my daughter and that's exactly what I've done. It's now just over two years later and the dollhouse is complete with every imaginable detail and I could've never accomplished it without the help of this shop and it's staff. I would highly recommend this store to both novice and experienced hobbyists. read more

this place is really a trip. you walk in and find yourself in a smaller world, full of miniature versions of everything from potato chips to pay phones to baroque settees. i have a job that involves miniatures, so i am lucky enough to be able to shop here pretty often and expense my purchases of little tiny mr. peanut swizzle sticks (only half an inch long, and about $5) and moody boudoir lighting (black leather lamp- really works- 35$). the people who own this place say that their selection varies from week to week. so the only thing that's sort of frustrating about it is that say one week you see a great set of liquor bottles and you remember it for future reference- and then a project comes up where you need a set of miniature liquor bottles. well, you might go back to get it only to find that they aren't carrying it that week. but here is one thing that's for sure. if you go in here, you WILL find something you didn't know you needed- even if you don't find what you came there for. what is it about miniatures that is so seductive to us? it is a fascinating phenomenon. and this is the only place in manhattan to explore it. (fao schwartz has a crappy selection, but re-ment at toy tokyo will also fill the void that exists in our normal-scale world) read more
