I've been a customer of GameStop my entire life and have never had such a negative transaction I went to the store to purchase a Nintendo switch 2 and pre order the new Pokémon game legends za. I walk into an empty store with 2 employees moping around and the atmosphere was depressing. Also a very strong smell of BO! Non the less when I asks to pre order the game the lady with different colored hair at the counter told me I was too late and if I did pre-order the game I'm not guaranteed my copy. Very politely I asked so what is the point of the pre-order then? There's still a week + left until release date , She replied "go buy it somewhere else. It doesn't break my heart. I don't get paid a commission from the sale" she also didn't add my extra $25 off a $250+ purchase for being a pro member. I literally had to leave and go to the gratiot location and the manager took care of me without issue and even apologized on other stores behalf. With game stop stores being closed down because of online retailers I think they should be happy to sell anything in a brick and mortar location these days definitely makes me never want to go back to the Hoover location again read more

Dick head owner who judged me off the way I looked and assumed I was a scalper looking for Pokemon as soon as I walked in the store, not everyone is a scalper, no reason to yell across your store in front of other customers. On top of that I forced myself to shut tf up and lost my thought process which made me buy the wrong top loaders because I just wanted to get tf out the store at that point. He definitely felt some type of way about me by the way I looked, literally saw it in his eyes. I went to this Game Stop around 5:30 on Thursday June 15th. I was trading in a game called Horizon Zero Dawn for the PS4. The website said I would receve $16.00 cash so that's what I decided to do since I don't game that much. Now the reason I'm making this review and it is my very first review is because I feel like the lady working named Carmen was trying to scam me. First she told me that I would be getting $10.00 for the disk to witch I replied that the website said $16.00, so if I was an uniformed person not knowing the website listed it as $16.00 instead of $10.00 I would have just agreed. Instead of saying "Im sorry sir but your game is listed at $16.00 but its scratched and it requires a refurbish so we need to deduct $6.00 she just said $10.00 without an explanation. Now to the condition of the disk and Ill post pictures so you can judge for yourself. It was bought in April and played once then put back in the box, there is barely any scratches on the disk to the point it looks almost brand new. I called her back explaining this to Carmen and her reply was there were some scratches on it , to which I replied "If your charging me $6.00 to refurbish this, then you must charge every single person that walks through that door selling a game disk because this disk is practically brand new looking". Ive paid refurbish fees once and had no problem doing it when its warranted. Its $16.00 , no biggie but this review was made to show some shady practices by Carmen. Shes a new employee or new to the store , first time Ive seen her , Ive never had a problem with anyone else there. I also called corporate, I will update this review letting you know what happens. Don't be dishonest with your customers Carmen , I wonder if shes scammed other unknowing non gaming mom and dads or little kids. Below is the disk , I tried to take pictures at different angles and a closeup the best I could to show its condition. This 99.9% spotless scratch free disk requires a $6.00 refurbish fee according to Megan , you be the judge. Update. I took the game to the VanDyke Game Stop and got my money with no problem ,I asked the employee AFTER she gave me the money to look at the disk again and tell me if anything is wrong with it, she said no so I explained what happened at the hoover store and she said " No , theres nothing at all wrong with this disk" read more

Employees are disrespectful and think too highly of themselves. Walked in looking for a certain product and when I asked the employee at the desk, he told me "why do you want that you should buy this instead" and immediately tried to up sale me into products I don't want. When I told him that's not what I'm here for he continued to pester me to buying it. When he finally realized I wasn't biting is when he said they were out of the product I was searching for. The employees at this store have always been very nice and helpful. When I want a game, I'll look it up on gamestop online and have it so I can come pick it up. I had a situation once where when I came into the store, they could not find the product I put on to pickup (it was a used one). They DID have the product there new though. So they gave it to me at used price, which was very nice of them, they could of had it sent from another store, or sent me to a different one. Gamestops are a good to hit up when you just wanna get some new games. They have GUARENTEED used games at a good reduced price. read more

i frequent two gamestops, the one here and another in royal oak. not to bash or anything, but i get amazing service here. the people at this one know how to give you your space but also talk to you if you need help and keep you company. everyone there is really nice, even late at night. the one in royal oak, nobody really has time or care to talk to you casually. it seems so formal there. i made good friends at this store and they have great advice. i'm not much of a gamer so they really walk me through the whole process and break things down for me. read more

After seeing that a game was in stock, my friend and I went to this store looking to get a game that we hadn't played in years, when we finally made it to the counter after standing in line for 25 minutes, the employee tells they don't have the game in stock. The weird thing is, he says it right away, without even checking the computer or anything. The game we wanted is an older ps2 game, so it's almost impossible to know if it was in stock of the to of one's head. After asking if he was certain, w left the store and drove another half hour out of or way to another Gamestop that had the game on stock. The employee at this Gamestop tells us that they don't have the game we wanted, and that there was definitely a copy at the store we were just at. The employee calls the store, confirms that it's there, and then placed a hold on it in my name. My friend and I then drive back to the first store, and then first clerk looks up and is like "hey guys, why are you back here?", I then tell him that we were just at another store, and that the employee confirmed that there was a copy of the game, and that this guy had been lying to us. The clerk then tells us that he was actually planning on buying the game for himself as a Christmas present and had put a hold on it. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded the fact that he lied to my face about there being a hold on the game, when there clearly wasn't, however he could have just saved my friends and I a lot of driving if he had just told the truth at the onset. read more
