We happened to be in the area and randomly found GameStop at this location. My husband got so excited we checked out the Wii games and cute plushies. They had Onepiece main character's hat and Demon Hunters, Shrek and other T-shirts for adults. It seemed to be pretty busy on Saturday morning. read more

Amanda was literally AMAZING. She went above and beyond to help me avert a crisis for my brother's birthday. I ordered a Wii off GameStop online and it was disgusting (pics below) spoke to an associate on the phone from GameStop customer support and was escalated to a manager who both told me that I was unable to return to a store (lie). I pulled up flustered and freaking out and Amanda literally went ABOVE AND BEYOND, she pulled out MULTIPLE systems and asked me what I was looking for, helped me make a great selection and even found a super cool Luigi controller. They had already closed the doors and the rolling cage an over 30 min early. I decided to knock since the employee was still behind the counter. Hands down I just received the worse customer service I've ever experienced. I made a call to the Arroyo GameStop looking for a Xbox Series X controller. Richard answered the phone and said they didn't have the controller that I was looking for in stock. I asked him if any other locations have it. His very short response was I don't know. Then I asked can't you look it up on your computer. He responded by saying oh yeah. In less then 10 seconds he came back and said no other location has it. This entire interaction with Richard felt short, rude and unprofessional. I proceeded to call the Blue Diamond location and Hunter answered the phone. He informed me that they had the controller in stock. I was surprised by that because Richard said no other location had it. Then I asked Hunter if the Arroyo location had the controller. He politely looked it up and said they had a couple over there. I told Hunter about Richard's poor customer service and that I was on my way to Arroyo. By the way Hunter has great communication and was very professional. When I arrived at the GameStop on Arroyo there was three employees there. Two had name tags on and one didn't. This made me assume that Hunter must have called Richard to tell him I was on the way to his location. Amanda the manager greeted me and asked how she could help me. As soon as I told her which controller I was looking for the employee with no name tag on looked at the third employee and cringed. Amanda found the controller I was looking for instantly. Then I asked if Richard was there. Amanda responded and said that he wasn't there. I said that's interesting because I just called 15 minutes ago and he was here. Then I asked who is Richard? Amanda responded by saying she didn't have to give out employee information. While Amanda was ringing me up I asked her if all employees are supposed to wear name tags. She said yes. While I was waiting for Amanda to finish our transaction the employee with no name tag said I thought you were talking about a different controller. This couldn't be the case because I clearly stated which brand and type of controller I was looking for. Obviously Richard didn't look for it at his store or any other store as he claimed he did. This entire situation was uncalled for. Richard took his name tag off because he knew he messed up by lying to me over the phone. All he had to do was take two minutes to see if my controller was in stock. He got caught in a lie. Amanda also lied by saying Richard wasn't there. I'm currently a General Manager at a well know restaurant on the strip. If any of my employees or managers treated our customers the way that I was just treated. They would be written up and coached immediately! All I asked was if a controller was in stock. I'll be filing a complaint about Richard and Amanda to corporate. After my warranty is up on my controller I'll never set foot in a GameStop again. read more

I don't know why I keep trying to give this location a chance. Probably because it's the closest one to my house, but enough is enough. I have now tried to pre-order items online for 5 different items for pick up at this location and ALL 5 ORDERS were botched. No one has ever called for me to pick up my items. Even after leaving cash deposits, I have yet to have one (1) successful transaction here. The absolute worst part of it all was the attitude of the employees that were there yesterday when told about all of this. They couldn't give a single f*%k. I had the most amazing service today by Lawrence and Dezarae!! I came in to buy a Pokemon go plus and while I was there Lawrence was listening to me talking about my Funko Pop collection and mentioned one that he thought I would be interested in. He was right!!! I didn't even know about the gwenom pop. Then Lawrence and Dezarae searched the whole store looking for the 1 they had in the inventory system and finally found it. It made a great addition to my 300+ collection. Also I couldn't figure out how to connect the Pokemon go plus to my phone and Dezarae quickly linked it up for me. LAWRENCE S., the store "manager" was horrible in his customer service skills and abilities to assist in my needs in explaining console warranties. He made smart remarks such as "I can look at you however I want, these are my eyes" as well as "I can speak to you however I want as you can see" ( while pointing to his name badge with title of "store leader").. even his colleague looked at me and apologized for his actions. I walked out of this store (with my 8year old) in tears after he handed me a handwritten note with the customer service number and says "to finish up you can call customer service and be on your way." Also, Lawrence should NOT be begging customers to give him a good survey review. It's unprofessional, especially if he doesn't have the service to back it up. After waiting in line for 5 minutes, i get to the register and i asked the guy at the register if they have this preorder game available and tried to show him my phone, thinking it would be easier for him to just take a look at the photo since i know NOTHING about video games and what exactly the preorder was. Huge lines here, and they all seem pretty bored. I've seen better customer service for sure. There are a couple employees that are pretty good, but it's definitely a YMMV type of situation. This particular store actually has a pretty slim selection of used items. Fortunately, I usually just scan the used, and buy some gift cards. It definitely could use a push in this department. However, I still think that Gamestops in general have a decent business practice and they all are fairly similar regardless. Awful service, we ended up leaving without the games we picked out. The girl was on her cellphone instead of helping the mounting customers in line. At one point she said she was waiting on her back up, then she was on a conference call instead of ringing out customers. She kept going back and forth to her cell phone. Horrible customer service! If you don't have backup, don't you think the most important thing is to clean out your customers before everything else? We were in line 10 mins or more and she had only helped 1.5 people because she had to keep stopping and messing with her phone. She didn't apologize to anyone for the wait or focus so she could get people taken care of. If there was an option for 0 stars they would of gotten them. Unprofessional staff. I went to this location today to buy some pre-owned games. It took me about 15 minutes to select the 4 games that I wanted and then I proceeded to the line at the cash register. Once in line with 4 games in hand, the associate at the register is on the phone and then asks me if I'm holding a particular game. I said that I was (I had picked it off the shelf maybe 10 minutes earlier before choosing other games) and he tells me "well I just sold it to this guy on the phone...we're holding it for him." Whether the guy on the phone actually bought the game or not, I'm not sure. But having found the game sitting on the shelf and available, I had told my brothers-in-law that their kids were getting a game as a surprise (I texted them that as I got in line). Now, I had to call them back and tell them otherwise. What the associate should have told the individual on the phone is that the game was no longer available as somebody was actively purchasing it. Whether this mishandling was due to a lack of social intelligence by the store associate in how to handle the non-standard situation or an inability to manage the items available on their shelves correctly, this location is clearly not ran well (as corroborated by other reviews) and I will drive further in the future to go to other locations instead so that my time is not wasted. This situation led to me wasting an additional hour and a half to drive to another location to find the games that I was looking for. I refused to buy any of the games at this location as they did not deserve the business. Absolutely unsatisfactory. read more

I had an issue with a pre-order game today. I went to another GameStop first and the staff weren't able to help me. They just didn't understand or were trained on the procedure I suppose. I came to this GameStop after talking on the phone with Amanda. She was great and knowledgeable. She was able to fix my issue and I left the store satisfied. This used to be my favorite Gamestop when Dijon worked here, but he's since moved to the blue diamond location, so I frequent that one more, although this one is still closest and I like it. Sacha has been working at this location for a while too, and he's cool, but I dealt with Dijon a lot more and he knew me as a regular and always hooked up free shwag. If you're used to buying videogames, then you may know how a store like this works, however, some people are still noobs, so I'm here to help. Let me start with a list of things to do and things not to do at this franchise. DO: Number 1 - Pre-orders: Pre-order the AAA titles that have collector's editions or special editions, or limited produced items like arcade fightsticks. Wal-mart and best buy usually won't have these items and gamestop will only order as many as they are reserved, so if you don't, you're fucked, and you're going to be hitting up ebay and paying double or triple the retail value in some cases. Pre-order the hot titles and if you change your mind come release day, just back out and get your money back. You don't HAVE to buy the game if you change your mind, and nobody is forcing you to. It's just like having a little bit of security and not getting screwed when the game gets sold out elsewhere. As incentive, there's always exclusive pre-order bonuses for in-game content, and they call to remind you when the game will be out a couple days before...so why not. Number 2 - "Free Rentals": Some people might not be aware of this loop-hole, but if you buy a USED game, you have 7 days to return it for a full refund, granted you kept the receipt. This is mostly for the Achievement and Trophy whores who know that they'll beat a certain game in a week and want nothing to do with it again after that...whores like me. This is also convenient if you're considering buying a game, but are not sure if you'll like it, or if you think you might get bored of it after a while. I use the term "free" loosely, because you do have to front the money, but you get it back in the end. Try it out at least once. DON'T: Number 1 - Trade Ins: I've heard it a million times, pissed off gamers who think Gamestop is so evil because they give you pennies on the dollar for your used games, then turn around and sell it at retail price. This is true...they do that. But if they're going to sell a game at retail, why shouldn't you get retail price for it? For this, I suggest ebay for getting the right amount of cash back for your games you don't want anymore. Here, you can undersell Gamestop, but still get back more what they would offer you. Play the money game; instead of giving them nothing but profit by buying their used games, use the "free rentals" loop-hole. Instead of getting ripped off by them on trade-ins, undersell them on ebay. Number 2 - Midnight Releases: I would highly advise to never go to a midnight release...at any location. For reals...they're always shitty and you'll have a fucked up time because it's just not that much of an organized event if you're strictly going there with intent to buy the game at midnight. It's chaotic. D-bags cut in line in front of those who have been waiting hours, the kids are annoying, and there is no structure at the registers. I mean, I guess if you plan on not getting home until 1 - 2am, downing RedBull, and staying up all night with your new game, then go for it. I, however, prefer to save the headache, go to bed instead, and come back in the morning where the game will be waiting. I'm too old for that midnight shit anyway. It's just not cool to me. All in all, Gamestop is the juggernaut of commercial game sales, and their stores are popping up more than McDonald's and Starbucks, which is a good thing. I've spent more money on new games than I can remember at these stores because I'm an avid collector, and they cater to my needs. Occasionally, I'll buy used if it's a game I never picked up on launch day, and it's been marked down decently and it's in pristine shape, and if I think I'll keep it for more than a week, haha. The employees at this store simply don't care about the customers. I submitted a request for a hold of a pre-owned game, but instead the email confirmation said they put aside a new copy. I tried calling the store multiple times over the course of a few hours to double check what exactly was held, and not once did anyone answer. To make matters even worse, I called a different location to see if there was an alternate phone number for this location and the employee actually ASKED ME TO COMPLAIN TO CORPORATE because the Arroyo crossing store won't even answer the phone when they call. I relented and drove to the store, and they had held a new copy and since sold the only used copy they had to someone else. The ENTIRE time I was in the store, one employee was on his personal phone and any time the other employee wasn't directly interacting with me, she too was on her personal phone. Customer service is lacking at this location. The guy on the phone put me on hold and forgot to mute the phone or actually put it on hold. I heard the whole conversation with his buddy and other customers. Besides the ridiculously low trade in value they give you here (which is expected) the service is terrible. I won't go In here unless I absolutely have to actually no I rather go to Walmart (and that tells you a lot). I bought a new game but received an opened copy in a envelope sleeve. And I asked why that was and he said it was because they needed empty display cases. I told him I wanted a new one that was sealed and said he couldn't give me a sealed one. I have came in several times since being in the area and both Dezarae and another gentlemen have gone out of their way to help me locate items I was looking for. This has always been the nearest GameStop for us. We stopped by today with a few questions only to have a smart aleck come off extremely rude. We left and could not get his name but he's light skinned with short brownish hair? I believe the associate's name is Brandon. When we entered the store the associates were settling a dispute about another person. I imagine that's what set his tone and demeanor because it was not a pleasant conversation we could overhear.
