had a really disappointing experience at this GameStop recently. I placed an online order on October 26th for some Topps basketball cards, planning to pick them up in-store. GameStop's own website says they'll hold pickup orders for three full days, which is exactly why I ordered online -- I've been working back-to-back 12-hour shifts and couldn't make it in right away. I finally got to the store around 5 PM on October 29th, which is still within that 3-day window, and the manager (Eddie or Eddy, not sure of the spelling) told me my order was cancelled and already sold to someone else. The store doesn't even close until 8 or 9 PM, so they didn't even make it through the full day before deciding to sell what I had already paid for. That's just not right. I followed the policy, they didn't plain and simple. I shouldn't have to chase down an order that the store is supposed to hold. It's really frustrating to feel like they didn't care or even bother to double-check the policy. If this is how GameStop handles confirmed online orders, it makes me question why anyone should trust the pickup option at all. Huge letdown. read more

Went in on 3/27/26 to purchase a game and left, got an email yesterday 5/16/26 to review the game. I loved the game so much I was going to leave a review but then I realized the email was asking me to review a game warranty. I know for a fact that I turned down the warranty and I know this because I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, turn down the game warranty because I think it's a waste. So the employee had the audacity to add the warranty even after I had said no and probably hoped I wouldn't notice. What's worse is I didn't even think twice about checking the receipt because 1) I've never had this issue before at any GameStop I've gone toand 2) there was a Pokemon tcg release going on and the place was packed so I wanted to get out of there asap. I visited this location on the evening of 06/07/2025. There were a few customers in the store. Some shopping and others in line.There was a family at the register being helped by an employee, I got in line behind them,  then another employee(Allison heavy set woman) came to the line and called for the next customer. When we approached the cashier, I informed her that I was interested in purchasing Pokémon cards.  she walked my son to the cards. After he picked up the ones he wanted, we proceeded to check out. After she ran our order,she asked for a telephone number. This is where things took a turn for the worst. I gave Allison two numbers my account should be associated with. she informed me that neither account was in the system. I politely said well don't worry about it."" She asked if I would like to sign up for an account, then proceeded to tell me the benefit of having an account.  I declined, and she seemed very bothered by my answer . I went into my purse to get the cash to pay for my items.  Once I had the amount, I handed it to her. When it was time for her to return my change and receipt, I held my hand out. Allison bypassed my hand and placed my change and receipt on the counter. As I scrapped my change off of the counter, I shook my head in disbelief. I didn't say anything. I just shook my head. She noticed me shaking my head. She then asked me, "Was something wrong?" I told her yes. I explained to her I had my hand out so that she could return my change to my hand. She says " I have OCD and I am strict on how I return change" I say OK, still in disbelief, because she took the money from my hand, so I really didn't understand why she didn't place my change and receipt in my hand. She then said, "You're band from the store." I couldn't believe that I was band from the store.  I looked at Allison with further disbelief, and I informed her that I wouldn't patronize Gamestop if they were treating customer's in that manner. She did some type of motion with her head and lips as if to say, "Oh well." And I left the establishment. It seems as if she was looking for me to respond in a negative manner so that she could have a reason to "ban" me from the store from the time I declined to set up an account.  What was supposed to be a fun time with my child was interrupted by Allison's unprofessional and immature behavior.  I wanted to inform someone of how I,as a customer, was treated. I am just a mom trying to help my son with video games in the year 2025 (if you know, you know) and it's not always the easiest thing to do because I am not a gamer myself. We had to turn in my sons old PS5 console and Allison made the process super easy. I called to ask a simple question over the phone and she took it upon herself to go above and beyond by getting most of what I needed done, so I could be in and out when I went to the store. When I got to the store, she and Aliyah (sorry if I misspelled that!) were super friendly and helpful with my son (he asks a lot of questions) and they were just overall very patient with both of us. Fast forward to today, and I had to call the store again to ask about a locked game on the PS5 and Aliyah went above and beyond once again to help us get the issue figured out. In this day and age, good service is hard to find so when you do come across people who give you great service, they really stand out. This was one of the worst experiences with the manager of a "retail" store I have ever had. I put that in quotes because when I referred to GameStop as retail, he aggressively corrected me to "nah, this is more of a sales job" Either way, incredible level of unprofessionalism by the manager "Tru" I was misinformed by one of his employees the day before about a return policy. Not the end of the world, mistakes happen. When I went in to exchange a product because I found information elsewhere that lead me to a product that fit my needs better, I was basically told it didn't matter what I said, he wasn't going to help me in any way, shape, or form. Offered no empathy for the incorrect information given that lead to the clearly upset retail manager just not wanting to help me at that point. I went in an clearly articulated the product type I was looking for and some features I would like it to have, after about an hour in the store I was "sold" a product I was assured would fit those needs best. This was not the case, and I understand not everyone can know every detail about every product. However, if you tell a customer that as a "Pro member" they get a 30 day return policy, and the actual policy is you simply can't return it for any reason, what the receipt says doesn't matter. Own your employee's mistake and at least make SOME attempt to make it right. There was none of this. I was in the store 2 days later to make the exchange and the second Tru realized it was a gaming headset, he told me there was nothing he could do and refused to discuss the matter any further. When I asked for a corporate number, I was told to "look it up". When I asked for his district managers number I was told "I don't know who it is" All that said, I behaved in a calm,respectful way in which we could find some type of resolution. He was rude, aggressive, withheld corporate information, and I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere, so I decided to go to the Pittsburg GameStop. !!COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE!! A manager greeted me and I explained the situation. I don't remember his name, but acted exactly as a leader should. He apologized for the way Tru acted. As soon as I said I wanted to exchange for a product that was more expensive and pay the difference, what a shocker, BOOM NO PROBLEM! He was about to be off and I had to run home to grab the product, but he took the time to let the manager that was coming in, Rosa, about what happened. She was equally amazing and I left spending more money, and was happy with the end result. Moral of the story AVOID this location if you see the manager there. "Tru" but he probably lied about his name seeing as he refused to give me any other information. read more

Today I went to play Shantae which I bought at this GameStop awhile ago and to my disappoint and surprise Shantae was NOT in the case and instead was a copy of Shaq-Fu which is a garbage game worth $11. I ordered a used Wii nunchuck. The one they gave me was so dirty and stained, I had already paid for it to be picked up so I did t make a fuss about it in the store. I was able to clean up the remotes when I got home, but you'd think they'd bother trying to care for their merchandise before selling it. Edit: The controller only made my character move left, when I opened it up there was a spilled substance inside. So they sold me a completely broken product. read more

I am no gamer but have been here a few times. I'm more of a Lara Croft fan and that's it. I came here looking for a gift for my nephew for his Wii. He's five but darn smart so I didn't know what I was looking for exactly but the CSR that helped me was super friendly and helpful. I picked up a Sponge Bob game, read the back and it didn't explain to me on what needs to be done and how on a Wii. For some reason I was thinking of the Kinect. But the CSR explained the game and it was reasonable for my nephew. At check out, I knew I was in their system but it's been years. I didnt have the card thingy they have now but he hooked me up with not having to pay the replacement fee. He also confirmed that there weren't any other game stores like Game Stop which I found odd given the huge industry. Big competitors are the big box stores. I'd go with buying your games used here. They work just fine and back up their products when they don't. True, they may not give you remotely close to what you originally paid for for a game or console but if it's just going to be sitting on a shelf or closet, I'd rather have the money and let someone else enjoy it. read more

My son and I went to Pittsburg game stop and a girl with multi-colored hair helped us out. She was polite, greeted us, and gave good customer service. While my son was shopping around for games, I was trading in 4 of his used PS4 games. 1 game was to old so GameStop didn't accept it which was fine. 2 other games were the same and the last game was different. I went through the whole check out process showing proper identification and providing a finger print. For some reason the finger print machine wasn't working correctly so she sent us to another location. I was told Gamestop is considered a pawn shop according to her so a finger print necessary. We went to the Antioch location and that was a nightmare. We went in and wasn't even greeted by anyone. I waved at the employee so he could help us out. The first thing he said was we don't allow same game trade ins. I was confused because I just came from Pittsburg GameStop and no one there said anything about same game trades. I was frustrated so I went outside to make a phone call. I went back inside to talk to him explaining that we just came from Pittsburg GameStop and they accepted the games. He then tossed the game that was old and said did Pittsburg tell you that we won't accept this game. I told him yes and I also said "you don't have to toss it like that. That's not professional." He then told me "do you have a problem?" So, I looked around and said what? He said it again "do you have a problem?" I said HELL YEAH I do!!! I told him we just came from the Pittsburg location and we had no issues trading in the same 2 games. Now your telling me I can't do that it's against company policies. He told me to leave and he won't help me. I got my son and the games and started to walk out. I paused by the entrance and asked for his name. He looked at me and didn't want to give me his name. He told me to contact corporate. I then asked for a business card he said he don't have none and to look up. Ok I sure will. We then went to the Brentwood location where Kristina helped us out. She greeted us, asked what we are here to do, and we traded in the 3 games with ease. Great customer service skills. My son even updated his GameStop pro card and told me that we should always go to Brentwood location. Thanks Kristina. On the ride home I called the Antioch location 5 times and guess who picked up the phone and said his name, Charles. I asked for his name again but he didn't want to say it so I asked for a manager. Every time I come to this location, it's always a bad and VERY SLOW experience. Today I tried to purchase a game for my younger sibling and unfortunately due to me not having my PowerUp rewards card present, I could not purchase it; I physically had to have it and present with ID. Altho here's the catch, I had my membership on my phone and showed to the employer. What difference would it make? I've worked in retail before. Can't you just find me and manually punch in something? When I went to the GameStop in downtown San Francisco they were able to do that for me, no big deal. But not only was the trip inconvenient (as I waited 15min in line and traveled from a different GameStop location a few cities down) the young Asian lady helping me seemed to be rude and rushing. Telling me "Oh yea sorry. I also have a line" & slightly laughing. A line is for waiting. I've waited and it's my turn. The salary must be good for you to take your time and not really help your customers right? I was in the store around 5:55pm. Grabbed my game and was in line till about 6:15. Didn't leave till about 6:30ish. I put the game on hold, said Id be right back. After heading home and frantically looking for my PowerUp rewards card for 10min, I FINALLY found it. I called the store right before closing about 6:45-6:50pm to tell them I was on my way and found my card but guess what.... NO BODY ANSWERED. I called maybe about a good 5-6 times. I didn't even get a "sorry it's really busy right now can I put you on hold?" This is the worst game stop location I've ever been to. Service is a joke. I should have went to the one at Brentwood streets. I never have a problem there. If you wish to have your nerves tingle, and not in a good way, come here! It is one of the busiest of the stores I frequent & they handle it like pros. Today I was looking for infinty marvel starter pack for PS3. Ok so first trip was to find out if they had the deal to trade in the xbox360 for the xb1 and get a 100 dollars off. Second trip was to go home an get the Xbox 360 to swap out.third trip was to go back home to get an hdmi cord for the x box 360. After an hour of the swap out process I walked out with the xbox1. They were super busy because of the release of black ops 3 which I totally understand so I wasn't to worried about the wait, UNTIl..I get home and set everything up to find out that there was no mic in the box. I called back and told them that there was no mic, and they said I had to come back, wait in the line of about 20 people, and go thru the entire process again of swapping out the Xbox to get another one that had the mic in it.. I'm not that dude who complains about little things, actually I wouldn't mind going back for a fourth trip to pic up a mic and leave. However to ask a customer who just went thru all that to do it all over again is horrible customer service. UPDATE** so I go back after my horrible experience because I figured the 30 dollar Xbox1 mic that I was forced to purchase should be returned and I might as well spend a little extra money on a pair of turtle beaches.( at this time I had promised myself that I would not give this store another dollar of my money because of how bad my previous experience was) I decided to suck it up, I walked in with the intention to return and upgrade, while in the process of returning I asked the clerk what the difference was between all the turtle beaches because I was Interested in buying a pair. He stopped what he was doing and said, basically go grab anything except for what you already have. These basic ones You have are shit. I'm looking at dude like, can I get some help? Maybe an opinion on which of the 5 turtle beaches you sell would best suite my needs.? Anyways I retuned my basic headset I was forced to buy and I took my money to target and got a pair of turtle beaches. ( best 59 bucks I ever spent) Also I filled out 2 bad surveys on my GameStop receipt and on both surveys I requested a phone call or an email. Of course, I received neither. What's the point of having the survey on the receipt when you are not going to contact the customer who had the bad experience? Literally just got off the phone to confirm a in store pick up for pubg and female employee immediately gave response that there was no order as though there was no effort to look for it. She said, " hold on ". Left me on the phone while she was talking to others in the store ( background noise ) and then 4 minutes or so later she hangs up. The customer service at this particular game stop is horrible. In addition, the lines tend to be ridiculously long and move at a snails pace. After waiting in a long line and spending my hard earned cash, I do not expect to deal with unprofessional and unpleasant associates who don't want to answer questions and just try to brush you off as if you are bothering them. I've had negative experiences at this particular location several times. In addition, I've asked to speak to a manager each time and am always told "there is no manager available right now". I think I've learned my lesson now, I will bypass this location and drive the few extra blocks to the location at The Streets of Brentwood. read more

I buy something, I bring it back, I have the receipt, I paid cash . . . you need my drivers' license and thumbprint for what reason? One tells me it's a company policy and that it's in the return policy - I show him that it's not. Another tells me it's a law because of the licensing they have to buy used stuff. This is also false - returns with receipt to a pawnbroker (that's what they'r licensed as) do not require a thumbprint or an ID. What is it really? This was my first visit at game stop and it was to purchase the new Xbox hello neighbor game 12/8/17..we got it home and it loaded and played fine for several weeks. One day it just stopped working and we trouble shooted and couldn't get the disc to play. I went to exchange it at the same GameStop and was told since I couldn't find my receipt that they couldn't exchange it for another one. I was never told I could join a membership and that would have been a way to look up the receipt. I thought if a game worked several weeks that there wouldn't be future issues. I'm not a gamer, this was for my grandson but was told no exceptions..$30 out and a sad grandson, never shopping at GameStop again nor throwing a receipt away! read more
