Was looking for a fun and creative puzzle and found this place on Yelp. When I walked in I was amazed by the amount of puzzles, board games, and playing cards in the store. Even though I wasn't looking for anything too specific, I enjoyed walking around and seeing the variety of games. There's also a section of games to play in store at a small table in the back. They even had an entire shelf full of games on sale. Definitely will prefer going here as opposed to target when I need more games and puzzles.

Today, for the release of Mega Evolutions Pokémon cards, we were fortunate to find a mid-day restock here! Earlier, we had opted not to wait in the extremely long line at GameStop, so we were super excited to get cards. The staff here were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they sell the cards at MSRP, which is even cheaper than GameStop! We will be back!

Came here to buy gifts for a Secret Santa! I was a little stressed about finding something, but the store associate was able to help me pick out the perfect gift! They even have a sale section with really great deals! I was planning to go to Target to get gift wrap, but the store actually has complementary gift wrap towards the back of the store! They were well stocked on wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, etc! This store was such a lifeline - would definitely recommend coming here for gift shopping!

The largest puzzle store in San Francisco. 75 pieces - 3,000 pieces. I never had an interest in puzzles until COVID, & now I'm hooked, thanks to Big Puzzle. But wait, there's more. Lots of popular games that I've never heard of- but go to the back of the store on Saturdays & you'll find tables full of adult men playing them. The guys working there are super friendly & helpful. They really know the inventory. I've seen loads of parents taking their kids to find a family game as well. What a great place to find a gift. Support local!

This is a board gamer's dream first sure. Just came in to browse and all my fave games were up and center. The only reason I didn't buy anything is because I bought everything online already. Comparatively speaking (without shipping), things were a lot pricier at Gamescape than online (for instance they sell Red Rising for $40 and it's on Amazon currently for $15). But honestly I went for the vibes and would return for the vibes. I've never played board games with strangers but will try to go on one of their Wednesday night board game nights

Great store! Miniature games, board games, card games, rpgs, hobby supplies, puzzles AND more! They run events, staff are friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Free self-service gift wrapping station! This is just what I need for those last minute bday gifts.

I have been meaning to write this review since Christmas, but I finally remembered to take a photo of the amazing self-service gift wrapping station (it's free!) that is now set up. I'm impressed that they found a way to make an already amazing store even more awesome. Gamescape SF has a fantastic selection of games, super nice & well-informed folks working there, and a full calendar of game-centric events. My kid and I both love coming here. Highly recommend!

I started coming again now that I got into model kit building and painting and I have a totally new appreciation for this place. Due to the small size of the store, the selection is not comprehensive, but I always find very cool things every time I come in. I usually shop for gunpla, military model kits, game miniatures, and hobby supplies like paints and glues. I'm fine with paying a bit more to support a local store, but I'm always pleasantly shocked that prices here are either roughly the same as online or cheaper! I don't keep up with anime figure prices anymore so I can't tell you if the prices on those are as competitive. I can only vouch for the model kits/miniatures/supplies. The biggest downside is the place is super cramped, but in a way it's also somewhat of a plus because I can look around at the various stacked boxes and find lots of treasures. Plus the person behind the counter (think he's the owner?) is very nice and patient.

During my last visit (12/17/2025) in particular I remember they had a huge selection of Spy Family figures and many of the Project Sekai Sega Prize figures but they also carry other merch from many other franchises like JJBA, Love Live, and MHA. The store limits its capacity to six customers at a time but that's only because they have so much items in the store! Got a PIC programer and some other various things. After he moved to the current location thats closer to the airport I continue to buy things from him, usually emergencies when I'm short a part or have a rush on something. Hobby Engineering has a searchable website so you can see what he has in stock. The IMIM store hours are what I would nicely say Quasi-Predictable. He's basically running two businesses at the same time by himself and most business is through the mail-order/warehouse side of things however you can really tell he wants to have a storefront. I know currently he's trying for regular Saturday hours but its always best to read the website instructions. When I need something I check the website, then I call to see when he'll be around. If I'm in a rush after confirming he'll be there I'll place the order online and pay for it as a Will-Call and swing by. He has also been incredible in the past and met me at weird or late hours to pick something up. The IMIM store itself is on the second floor and he's making good progress on it as of my last visit. Quite a bit of hobby-related stuff on the shelves to browse. His speciality seems to be Robotics but a lot of general model making supplies around too. Not some much on display for general electronics but the warehouse is just downstairs so if you know he has it in stock and he doesn't have bunches of customers upstairs he has no issues grabbing parts from the warehouse. I have to reiterate, you need to read the website. Local store. One person. Hard to cover everything by himself. My hope ( and I'm sure Al's ) is that the storefront gets enough traction to warrant an employee. He's got a bunch of space and a lot of possibility.

He wanted to know what I was working on, and told me that he didn't really have any stock out to look at. That's my rule: if I step into a game or comic shop, I have to buy something. It's a hard habit to break at this point. From the outside, the store looks massive -like it might contain the multiverse. But once inside, the retail selection isn't quite as big as it appeared to be. BUT... it's got great stuff. Solid board game options. Plenty of space for RPGs and card games. It's the kind of store that's clearly built around social gatherings and play. Spacious and not cramped. A rare find in a city setting. There's an upstairs and downstairs, but those seemed more dedicated to table games you can meet up and play rather than shopping, so I didn't explore too much. The staffer working was friendly and helpful. She even checked if they had the new Monster Manual. Unfortunately, they didn't. That was a letdown. I mean, it's been out for months. If a game store doesn't carry the NEW core D&D books, especially right after a new edition drops, it stings a bit. They had plenty of the original 5e, but not the new.
