Ive stopped by this store twice while waiting for someone. And both times, the employees were extremely helpful, polite, and super informative. I have not experienced the hours issue or the store being closed as others have commented. So I can't speak to that. I had a terrible time with this store when I came to Cali. I went over one day of the week when they said they were open, and the sign on the front said that they should be open but they were not. I came back the next Friday and it again said that they were open but they were really closed. This was during the thanksgiving week but, but there sign and website said that the store would be open. read more

Updating my review from 5 years ago. I heard this location was under new management so I stopped in to check it out. New manager seems to be much more considerate of the store's customers than the previous. He's attempting (successfully) to rebuild the store's patronage after the last manager drove off so many fans of the hobby. The new manager is eager and informed about the games and products. Based upon some of the other recent harsh reviews, I decided to write this one after I had a handful of my own personal experiences to see if anthing aligned with other peoples poor experiences, and thus far I can honestly say 'No.' While I might concede that the manager does lean towards having an Type-A personality, he has been nothing but helpful towards me. I'd even go as far to say he's taken an interest in my painting skills and I often share with him pictures of my works-in-progress and by memory he has asked me how miniature 'XYZ' is turning out since the last time I stepped in. I don't play any Warhammer games, but I do a lot of miniature painting and since I discovered this place, I buy most of my Citadel paints here. Nathan has always been upfront in answering my questions, offering some occassional tips and suggestions, and just making pleasant small talk with me but never pressured me into a sale. I even asked if they offered painting clinics and he's said "Yeah, come on down and watch if you want..." The times I have been in the store he has been the only person running the place and I can imagine keeping an eye on customers while answering calls, ringing up, receiving deliveries, and stocking supplies can be taxing so I wonder if those with poor experiences caught him during one of those moments. That being said, I thinks the store is pretty fairly well stocked. The paints in particular are rotated often enough where I believe I was informed they get new shipments once a week so I feel good that many of the paints don't sit there for months on end. That being said, and to no issue of Nathan, some of the prices on GW brushes, accessories, books, and game pieces are a bit excessive, but I also understand that is set by corporate, not idividuals. Overall the store is pretty clean, although I'm not sure the best utilization of space is well afforded there. When you first walk in, there is a large game table diorama set up...I might move that over to somewhere else. Personally, I think the store needs a little more lighting as well...seems a bit dark and un-inviting for the square footage. The paints and brishes are next to the cash register which can be slightly anoying, but I think that's more due to 'shrinkage' control than anything. I can see that paint pots might walk out the store unpaid a lot more if not kept next to the register. One time when I visited, the store opened a 10 minutes later than advertised but I don't know if that's a trend or not. If anything, they could use a bit more local advertising for game groups or open houses. It feels more like a supply store with a game corner thrown in that it feels like a Warhammer Gaming store. Maybe I'm just missing out....if I knew they held more scheduled events that promote different aspects of the hobby, I could see myself coming in more often...and probably buying more then as well, read more

It's true. Nathan is a caustic guy. He's rude, unhelpful and imperious. My experience was so bad at this location I rarely go back. It's ok. I've been playing for years I can deal with one awful employee. But how he treated my friend. How horrid and aggressive he was to a new player was beyond anything I'm willing to deal with. Games workshop: this man is costing you money. He may sell - but it's only the location he is in. Get someone better in there and your profits will sky rocket We want to give you our money but we won't work with Nathan It seems a trend on here. Notice most positive reviews are 1 year ago. I don't know who they met, because the man who currently runs this store, Nathan, is worse than Walmart workers (at least Walmart knows how to greet you) since this man, Nathan doesn't even know the basic idea of customer services. The store is empty majority of the time (I wonder y) but he didn't even bother say hello when customers walk in the store because he's busy pretend to paint something, always. When you start ask him questions about products, he answers your questions as if he is annoyed and doesn't have time to help you. When he's done pretending busy painting, he will vulture around you like hungry saleman while give you the mean look without saying a word, waiting for you to show him the money. If you take too long to decide, he will grab few most expensive boxes shove them at your face and tell you to buy them all without even explain why, because i guess that's a smart sale man would do, toss stuffs at customers' face and hope it frighten them enough to buy it. I'm sorry Mr.Nathan but you don't own Gameworkshop, you are hired by Gameworkshop to help customers and sell products. This shop seems to have a bad reputation due to the previous store manager. I was told that there's a new store manager there so I gave it a shot while I was in the area. The worker that was there was super helpful and actually spent time to go over strategies with my new army. If you had a bad experience here in the past I would say give the store another shot. read more

Awesome shop! Chris, the manager, is great, enthusiastic and knowledgable without being "Used Car Salesman" pushy like the guy at the Westminster store was when I went there. My buddy and I are new to table top gaming and I was very apprehensive on what to expect. Here are a few reasons why this shop should be your go to spot for your table top gaming needs. 1. The manager, Chris, cares. Plain and simple. The moment you walk in, Chris greets you and you get the immediate impression that he wants you to find your own hobby "identity". I asked numerous questions and he took the time to explain each answer thoroughly. 2. The store is an awesome display of how table top gaming can flourish. The models in the store are expertly painted and placed so newcomers can examine the detail of each miniature. Chris has gaming tables that are open to play with. There were several people in the store hanging out and each one of them were very inviting and welcoming. The organization and overall showmanship of the models makes you want to spend money. Impressive. Overall: I am hooked. I haven't purchased anything yet. Payday isn't till next week. However, when my visit was almost over, Chris gave me a schedule of the painting and beginner workshops throughout the week. I'm looking forward to my new hobby. I DON'T UNDERSTAND why there are soo many positive rating for this location of game workshop. Either the majority of you are people who spends hundreds dollars worth of stuff here, or someone who is lucky enough not to run into Nathan. The moment I walked in, the store manager NATHAN, was sitting there painting his figure. He didn't even bother to greet even though he clearly stared at us. I had to break the ice by greeting him instead to which he said 1 word, "hi" NATHAN didn't even bother introducing his name. He then pretend to paint figure and couldn't give crap. I asked about Warhammer 40k and some recommendation and he started to give 1 word answer as if I was bothering him on his painting. He didn't even bother to look up once entire time. It was as if he didn't care about this job. I tried to learn more about different type of boxes, then he yelled "TOLD YOU THAT!" as if he's annoying to talk to customers. I heard Gameworkshop show people how to paint so I asked him about it. Nathan replied with an annoyed tone, "Well do you have your figure? We can't show you how to paint without the figure." (in short buy something from him, what sly fox) I said just bought a box from his substitute. Nathan started interrogating "where you buy it?! What time!? Did you buy it here?! Who was the cashier at the time?! Then he talks how you have to make appointment for his FIVE MINUTES class another day so he could show how to paint. Nathan then finally look up from his figure to walk over to the shelves where he grabbed 3 boxes set and slammed it on the table. He says you have to buy this, this and this to be in the "crusader class" (translate: pay me now and I treat you nicer). He says even if you shows up without being in the "crusader program" He would not help either if he has better thing to do. In short, he doesn't give a damn about customers unless you pay him lots of money. Prejudice much? When I told him I still have unopened box let me put that together first. Nathan frowned look away and said "So you not buying?!? So it's a no? tssk! " Then he sat back down and continue painting pretend to be busy. I tried to politely saying thanks for helping (which obvious he hadn't) I left the store in in shocked felt like I should return my box for this level of cruel treatment. If you are new and plan to get in the hobby. Don't bother come here, find another store. I came down here to visit my friend and trying get him into the game with me. I'll be honest, this is the type of store with saleman prejudge people on the way they look and talk. Rich customer who walk in, know what to get, ready to spend money will be treated with respect and full welcome. New customer who 1st time come here, or want to learn more about the game will be ignored and discard, of course until you pull out your money and the store attitude will change. Funny huh? it's the type of saleman you want to avoid because 1) you will fall for it and spend more money than you should 2) you get intiminated enough by fear and forced to buy junk to get him off your back. The one downside to that is when the girlfriend and I walked it the staff immediately didn't recognize us and assumed we had no idea what we were doing or looking for. This was the worst GW store I have ever been in. I was considering getting back into the game and the manager Nathan was horrible. He was hyper aggressive to me arguing about how I was sad that they killed Warhammer fantasy. He wouldn't drop it. Then he went on to literally hover around me like a thief pushing me to make my purchase and leave. He lied to me about closing the store and made up fake excuses of sudden repair men coming by pushing me out despite lots of people still there playing. Basically instead of being me back to the game he made me never want to play again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I have only had great experiences here with Nathan. I came in one day and he was running a painting tutorial for some guests and also teaching a young man how to play the game at the same time. You could definitely see the passion he had for this hobby and game. The store was well kept and well managed. I will say that the only bad part of this store is the hygiene of the regular customers. I will personally not come to this store very often due to the horrendously bad body odor that permeates the store whenever there are regulars there. It's not difficult to wash yourself and the clothes you are wearing, and expecting that from other adults shouldn't even be a thing. There was an article recently talking about how certain card game tournaments were now adopting rules that if you had bad body odor, you could not partake. I think Games Workshop in general can learn a lot from this and maybe improving it would help people to look past stereotypes in this hobby and want to join in. read more

I like the other 4star Yelper previously felt my experience at this Game Workshop to be completely different than other reviewers. I had the pleasure of meeting Nathan and he was utterly delightful to work with. Coming from a customer service background I found that he was completely helpful in answering ALL my questions, explaining what the Game Warhammer was all about and the experience he's had playing. Being that it was my first introduction to the game I had many questions as well as what I needed to get started. I didn't feel in the slightest way up sold or forced to buy anything at all. I really appreciated his time he took to explain all aspects of the store, game, figures, what is needed and how to get started. Sadly customer service is a dying art and I feel that what people portray as an overly excited A type personality is in actuality an enthusiastic employee attempting to convey his love and passion for a game to others. Nathan was nothing but awesome and he offered to help me get started in painting my miniatures anytime I wanted to come in.
