So - this will sound like an odd review, but I was in town for a couple of days to attend a funeral. I use a straight razor with a safety razor and can't bring blades on the plane. Most of the time, it's not a difficult thing to find a drugstore or Grocery store that has replacement blades. This was not the case In Burlingame. As a result, I was facing having to go to the funeral without a clean shaven face. The last place I checked was Gameday, but I did not have much hopes. After all, who's going to sell me a razors when they could insist I get a cut? I didn't catch the name of the barber in the first chair, but he helped without hesitation. He was really nice and refused to take any money from me (it was just one razor, but I offered $5 for his troubles). I lived in the Bay Area for a long time and my wife was a long-time resident of Burlingame. Some of you may remember the city as it was 30 years ago. People just took care of each other. To whomever that individual was that night, thank you for helping out. Not just with the razor, but in helping bring back that small time feel. Jason has been cutting my son's impossibly thick and unruly hair for past 2 years. I've tried many places in the Bay Area and nobody has come even close to how professional and skilled Jason is and we religiously make the drive from SF every month. Not only Jason is a very skillful and meticulous barber, he's also very good with kids. My son started seeing Jason when he's was a very fidgety 6 year old but Jason still cut his hair without my help and now that they developed a rapport, my son looks forward to his appointments and is relaxed/even falls asleep during his haircut. read more

I've been all over the city trying to find a reliable, professional barber. Being a woman can be a bit intimidating when going into a barbershop as well. My younger brother recommended this shop and the gentleman named Ben. not only was it easy to book my son's appointment on line but you can pay online too. They give you an hour for a hair cut which to me is better than any other place I've tried to take my son to. Usually shops are filled with people waiting and hurrying it up to get you in and out of the chair. Ben was extremely polite and professiona. most definitely worth the money. Cool spot in downtown Burlingame. It's really clean and well-decorated: cool without trying too hard. I called at about 10am and was able to get an appointment for 3pm the same day. My barber was Jarreau who was thoughtful and soft-spoken, conversational without being overly chatty; really cool and friendly guy. I paid $65 for a men's fade which took 30-45 minutes. Jarreau asked if there was anything I'd like to change about it (there wasn't) and showed me some tips for styling it. One of the better haircuts I've ever had. I've been going to this barber shop for months. The barbers do great work and are very meticulous. The down sides? Scheduling an appointment with any of the barbers is a headache, and rescheduling or canceling is even worse. Tried to reschedule an appointment I had made due to a family emergency, and no one had picked up the phone. Not only that, but immediately after my last haircut with Kenny, I had an extremely itchy scalp to the point of large chunks falling off--some good medicated shampoo helped. Couldn't find any other good barbers in the area, so I decided to go back. As I went to schedule my appointment, it canceled. What could it be now? I received a text from an unknown number--apparently, the same one that didn't answer when I tried to call that day to reschedule. Number says that I owe $50 due to being a no-show. Seems like prices have increased (it used to be $40 for a Basic Cut). Well, there goes my favorite barbershop. Hope you guys don't make the same mistake I did. read more

The Classic Barber is a great looking barber shop in an excellent location. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the staff. I arrived on location ready for my appointment with Nathaniel and was told he would be with me shortly. After waiting 30 minutes (for an appointment that was supposed to last 45 minutes) I had heard nothing from Nathaniel or any of the other staff. At that point I informed the staff I was leaving and they had nothing to offer other than Nathaniel was running a "little" behind. At no point did Nathaniel apologize for being late or even acknowledge that I was there. I understand that things happen and sometimes you fall behind. But a little common courtesy would have gone a long way. read more
