Jay and the crew are awesome. The shop is busy and everyone is cool. I always leave feeling fresh as Jay knows what I mean when I ask for my cut a certain way. read more

"Got a fresh cut straight out the salon, blonde." Just kidding. Those are Kanye's words. Off his track Bound 2 from the 2013 album Yeezus -- before things got weird with the presidential stuff, when he was still with Kim K, when Yeezys were cool. But I got the same feeling that those lyrics invoke after departing Genteel Society with my sick cut last week (although I did not dye my hair blonde -- next time?). Genteel Society is small but has a hip atmosphere. A DJ tutorial played as I got my hair cut and I learned a few techniques while my hair was getting done. My barber, Myron, was so nice. He had me 'myrin my hair afterwards, let me tell you! Peace love and be well, Xoxo Tad. read more

Great place for haircuts! Before I would get my haircuts at those Asian hair saloon for $20, but they were lacking design. Since I wanted to change something in my life, I started with my hair. I have not been disappointed since coming! Every time you get haircut from these fantastic barbers. You feel like a brand new person! They take their time to tailor your hair to you and the end result shows. When I go, I feel like they are precise. Service is great. The barbers really get to know you and develop a bond. If you don't like something, they can sense it. They really do care about what you like! I would recommend this barbershop to everyone! (Jk is a real homie) read more

Found them here on Yelp. Very communicative with regards to setting up the appointment. Parking situation is very good! The barber I worked with understood my hesitations and what I was looking to get (even I didn't know what I'm doing with my hair lol). I told the barber what I was going for and what felt good. Overall very satisfied and will be returning for my next appointment read more

I enjoyed the entire experience there. Myron is very welcoming. Their barbershop is clear and well-lit. I don't require a complicated haircut, but he gave attention to details, and I am delighted with the result. Conversation was just right, and the TV played a fun comedy show. Prices are reasonable too! I will definitely be back. read more

My barber, Myron gives me a perfect cut EVERY time. He was my barber ever since he was going to barber school at Aveda. No complaints whatsoever. The vibes in the shop are awesome too. Always good music playing, nice atmosphere, and friendly barbers. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cut in Burlingame! read more

Genteel Society - Front of shop - Barbers Near Me - Burlingame, California

Finding a barber who delivers a great fade and engaging conversation is rare, but JK Cruz nails it every time. Highly recommend!

Genteel Society is THE spot to get a fresh cut. I can't say enough great things about this place because everything is on point! My barber JK always does an incredible job when cutting my hair (highly recommend.) He's super patient, listens to what you want done on your hair, and executes it to perfection. I really enjoy getting my haircut here because the vibe is straight up relaxing. It has the type of vibe where you crave to go back to get your haircut because everyone in there is cool! Truly one of the best barbershops, I highly recommend anyone to check this place out! read more

I had a haircut and beard grooming by JK Cruz. He was awesome! I'm not easy to please specially about my beard but he really did a great job! read more

Just moved from LA and needed a barbershop so I took a risk on this one. Jose got me right! Definitely coming back!

I must say, this was the CLEANEST cut I have gotten in such a long time!! For my first time visiting, JK Cruz was my barber of choice and I cannot even testify within this review how awesome of an experience it was. JK is a down to earth barber who will provide the cleanest bald fade, coupled with a fresh line up and beard clean up to match. My hairline is hard to work with and my naturally straight--although permed to tight curls--makes it even more difficult. That being said, I went with JK's suggestions and within the next 45 minutes or so I re-discovered that this is the experience that everyone should have when they visit a barbershop. Not only can you receive fresh cuts, as I'm sure the other barbers are of similar talent there too, but with JK you will chop it up with the most down-to-earth dude, which isn't the case for different barber shops in the area. Essentially, there is no other reason why you shouldn't visit here, go book, now brother! read more

Great cut with Jose G, appointments via website. Parking opposite the store (public parking lot)

Hands down best barbershop in the Peninsula. Over the holidays, I've received a haircut from almost every barber (this is uncommon as I know most people stick to one barber, but due to varying schedules and availability it was necessary) and they all equally do a good job and cater to your requests. To me, this experience speak volumes to the talent aggregated at Genteel Society. read more

Fantastic haircut. Highly recommend. Went in not knowing what to expect but glad I took the risk. A friend asked where I got my haircut so she could send her bf there. read more

Just moved to Burlingame a few weeks ago and I needed a haircut for an event that I'm attending. I went on Yelp to look at some local barber shops and read reviews on a couple shops, and seen Genteel Society had a few reviews and they were all positive and decided to go with them. Called on a Friday around 5pm, to book an appointment for Saturday morning at 8:30am. And the person on the phone said they'll contact me in a few to see if there's an available barber who can cut my hair. No more than 15 minutes, I was contacted that I can get booked with Myron for the Saturday appointment, so that was a plus with the quick communication between the business and the customer. Upon arriving on Saturday morning, there was one other customer who was getting a buzz by another barber and Myron was there waiting patiently. Myron greeted me, asked me what kind of cut, and he got down to business. I loved our small talks that we had while Myron was cutting my hair, I love the music jams/videos that were playing on their TV, and I just love the safe business practice that they had with covid protocols. I would recommend Genteel Society and Myron for a haircut! I also live in SF and I would drive down to Burlingame just to get a cut. The price for the fade/comb over trim/comb over line/lined up was the best price I ever had for a cut at a shop. Keep up the great work Myron and see you when it's time for another cut. read more

I love getting my haircut at this place! I get my haircut from JK and he does a great job with my hair I always get compliments EVERY TIME. The place is located in one of the residential streets along Broadway. I am always able to find parking on the street, but also they have some public parking lots. In the shop, it's pleasant and extremely clean and modern looking. They always have fire r&b and hiphop music playing and also have something good playing on tv. it's a definite vibe coming here... great haircut, relaxing atmosphere and the great Burlingame weather always makes it a great experience read more

This is the shop to be at! The people and vibes are great, not to mention the location. I get my cut from JK, usually a 8 on top with a bald fade. Perfection EVERY time! Nothing better than leaving a shop feeling good about yourself! I appreciate how he takes time to get to know his clients. Would highly recommend stopping by for a cut. read more
