I would give 100 stars!! My girl, Tillie had a CCL tear and I looked high and low at vets in my…read morearea to schedule surgery. I could not find available appointments until months out and quotes for the surgery were anywhere between 4000 and 6000k, not including, x-rays, meds, and followup visits. I called VCA for the surgery even though it meant I would have to drive 2.5 hours from Syracuse for the appointments and surgery. Dr. Anderson was spot on. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Went over everything with me before the first appointment. Talked about payment and what was included (everything) and the very specific requirements for recovery and limitations. Surgery went well, I was updated and given x-rays with before and after the operation. The vet was in constant contact either by email or texts - sometimes calls. Every visit was scheduled with our travel distance in mind and our time was completely respected; we never had to wait and were often taken early. Dr Anderson is a pro at these surgeries and his knowledge and experience were apparent. He put my mind at ease and helped us navigate a very big surgery. The recovery and care for a dog after CCL surgery is extensive and time consuming, but it was SO SO worth it. My Tillie girl was unable to run and play and was in constant pain. To see her running, wrestling and playing with her dog friends made it all worth it. Thank you Dr. Anderson and everyone at VCA at Ballston Spa - from Tillie Amyot and her family!

Hit or miss depending on your doctor. My dog's primary vet is wonderful and super helpful, and took…read morethe time to address all of my concerns. The vet that was available for an urgent visit for a hot spot was unhelpful and rushed, and left me with more questions and answers. She also seemed afraid of my dog (my dog has no history of human aggression or reactivity). Overall, the location is well run and clean, the actual service depends on the vet that you see.

The doctors appointment may take a while and your appointment may run late, that's all because the doctors and staff care about your pets health and no question is a "stupid" question. Knowledgeable and caring.

Why am I giving only 4 stars? I've been taking our pets here for like 30 years. Going back to…read morebefore any additions/expansions. I have always loved this place and especially DR. Keith Clements. He's the guy who (back in the day) came to our house to euthanize two of our cats. He was/is sensitive and caring. These days this can't still happen and I understand. The new expansion looks wonderful. But here's a thing...with all the modernization and extra services, there no longer is any kind of after hours emergency service. I 've been told why and I kind of get it. Vets are busy, have families and need time off. Yup. But. My vote still goes with finding some way to offer emergency services. Going to the emergency clinic in Latham does not do the job. Been there, done that. But when we needed an emergency euthanasia years ago, and could get help from a Burnt Hills doctor it was so much better than trusting strangers. Does everything have to go away for a better "business model" ? I was told that there would be a separate waiting area for felines, but there is not and the reason is that there were architectural issues making that happen. It would not take much to still make this happen. And yes, I know there are practices in place to try to minimize the stress on waiting felines and others. Great, but still. It's more a matter of remaining human, humane and caring along with modern business. I will certainly be staying with this practice as I still consider it very good. But there is a little crack in the foundation of my confidence. Time will tell.
