I would give 100 stars!! My girl, Tillie had a CCL tear and I looked high and low at vets in my…read morearea to schedule surgery. I could not find available appointments until months out and quotes for the surgery were anywhere between 4000 and 6000k, not including, x-rays, meds, and followup visits. I called VCA for the surgery even though it meant I would have to drive 2.5 hours from Syracuse for the appointments and surgery. Dr. Anderson was spot on. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Went over everything with me before the first appointment. Talked about payment and what was included (everything) and the very specific requirements for recovery and limitations. Surgery went well, I was updated and given x-rays with before and after the operation. The vet was in constant contact either by email or texts - sometimes calls. Every visit was scheduled with our travel distance in mind and our time was completely respected; we never had to wait and were often taken early. Dr Anderson is a pro at these surgeries and his knowledge and experience were apparent. He put my mind at ease and helped us navigate a very big surgery. The recovery and care for a dog after CCL surgery is extensive and time consuming, but it was SO SO worth it. My Tillie girl was unable to run and play and was in constant pain. To see her running, wrestling and playing with her dog friends made it all worth it. Thank you Dr. Anderson and everyone at VCA at Ballston Spa - from Tillie Amyot and her family!

Hit or miss depending on your doctor. My dog's primary vet is wonderful and super helpful, and took…read morethe time to address all of my concerns. The vet that was available for an urgent visit for a hot spot was unhelpful and rushed, and left me with more questions and answers. She also seemed afraid of my dog (my dog has no history of human aggression or reactivity). Overall, the location is well run and clean, the actual service depends on the vet that you see.

I have been with UAMC since around 2018. I came from another vet practice when I thought they were…read moretrying to upsell me. I have had nothing but great experiences with them, even including the saddest part of having a dog, putting my Ella to sleep. All the doctors that work there are wonderful and thoughtful. Recently my favorite doctor bought the practice and I see it's even better now due to Dr. David Tamas. Recently they have brought in a pet nutritionist, Dr Sierra Bouchard. One of my dogs has had chronic diarrhea for some time no mater what I fed her! I worked with Dr Bouchard extensively. She took all the information from her blood work and came up with a home cooked food recipe which cured her within a week. During that time I was in with the doc via phone and email with any questions I had. She always responded to my calls and emails right away. She even checked in with me while I was away for a month. An extra bonis of the practice is that Dr. Tamas furthered his training and can now perform acupuncture and use other holistic methods. As far as I am concerned. , this is the only practice I would ever go to .

My cat needed surgery for polyps and also had a growth on her chin. The vet did the surgery, but…read moredidn't remove the growth. I let it go because her ears were a lot of work. Her ears started bothering her again. I accidentally agreed to my next appointment being a technician appointment. I mentioned my cat had cysts and should probably see a doctor, but the girl at front just said, "Okay..." and didn't look into it. It wouldn't have mattered if she did because there were no notes (they admitted this) about her cysts and that she should only be seen by a doctor. So the technician stuck in cotton swabs, popped polyps, and sent her back in less than 10 minutes, without even noticing anything on her face or clipping her nails, which is always part of a tech appointment. Her ears were still black inside and she was shaking her head like crazy. They charged me $50 for that. I called back and vented my frustrations and the manager refused to refund me, then finally changed her mind and refunded me 50%. I had to come back a week later and spend another $250 on an ear flush. The only reason I got a response was because I called back almost 2 1/2 hours later. The girls at the front desk must've listened to my message and deleted it, because they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. My last appointment was incredibly frustrating to sit through, but I kept my cool to be professional. I had to wait for almost an hour to be seen. I kindly asked the technician if before cleaning out my cat's ears, the vet could clip her nails and check the growth on her face before she was too traumatized and runs back into her carrier. I heard the technician ask her that, but she still skipped the growth on her face for a third time!? When my cat nails were clipped, her head was covered in a crusty towel that was in the room when I got in there, and her face was smooshed into a metal table while she was suffering from ear polyps that were bleeding. I almost walked out after that, but needed my cat's ears cleaned because she was miserable. I was alarmed to see how much debris was still stuck in her ears. Then they told me she needs an $800 surgery again. I'm going for a second opinion because I'm afraid her last surgery was just as rushed as every other appointment. I voiced more concerns via email, but I'm assuming that email also got deleted like my phone message. It's clear the goal here is to just take my money and run, and that is wildly disappointing. I thought this place was different. PLEASE EXPLORE FEAR-FREE VET PRACTICES!
