Words can't describe how awful this experience was. I recently bought a car from South Street auto sales next door to Gallo and asked if Gallo could have someone do a pre-purchase inspection of the car I wanted to buy. After paying them $108 to drive it/put it on a lift to inspect the underside/ and run a diagnostic they got back to me and said "it's a 17-year-old car but overall its drives and handles well. Some cosmetic things but nothing serious" When I asked them about the rear suspension (a common and expensive problem with the car) they said it was brand new and the air suspension was clearly recently replaced when asked if it was safe to drive 1,400 miles back home they said "absolutely". So I pulled the trigger, put a deposit down, flew one way, and picked it up. Initially, I drove it and it felt a little rough but I assumed it would just need tires. Took it to my private mechanic back home and he said it was a miracle I made it back safe as the ENTIRE suspension was busted amongst a few other things. The bill? over $4,600 (and that wasn't even the dealer quoting). Almost as much as I bought the car for. When I called to let them know the lady on the phone was rude and had the audacity to say "well you live and you learn." I PAID YOU FOR A SERVICE THAT YOU DIDN'T PROPERLY DO, but hey that's my fault.
I guess you live and you learn to trust Gallo auto for overlooking something my mechanic said "was an obvious problem." The only good thing I can say is that after I asked them multiple times they finally refunded the diagnostic fee.
Attached is the statement from my mechanic for proof. read more
