I walked in needing a silk dress to be fitted into my petite body which was cinching the waist and making corrections to the off the shoulder fit. I was provided with a friendly greeting and was immediately serviced right away as there was nobody before me. I completely forgot to ask for the lady's name, she's probably the daughter of the owner or I'm not sure but she was able to make corrections to my dress fast. I went back about two Saturdays after since I didn't need it right away, tried on my dress and it needed to be adjusted again, she was able to make the corrections the same say within a couple of hours!!! I have taken quite a few different pieces here to be altered, from a wedding dress that was an incorrect size to oversized pants I needed to be tapered and hemmed. Not only is Galina's always quick and efficient but the pricing is beyond reasonable. I took 3 pairs of pants to be hemmed and tapered and in one of the pairs she added elastic bands on the bottom. She finished them in a week and it was only $100, I haven't found anywhere else that does her quality and matches her pricing. read more

Olesea is my hero. I had ordered a dress based off stated measurements and it came a few sizes too big. I only had 5 days before the wedding that I needed the dress for and was in panic mode. It is a Dolce and Gabbana dress so returning and receiving the proper size in the time frame was out of the question. I had used Galinas before years prior for a costume and called hoping for a quick miracle and I got it! Not only was she able to alter the dress to a much better fit, but she did it so quickly that I received the dress a day earlier than promised. I purchased my dress online w/o trying it on expecting a baby I figured I'd grow into it. Sadly we lost the baby, I was hospitalized for weeks and in bed for almost two months. My wedding dress was two sizes too big with four weeks until our wedding Galina saved the day! I wish I'd taken a pic before her work, when I put it on the neckline fell to my hips, it just added to a really bad time. Wish I could give more than 5 stars to be honest! I've been going to Galina for a few years now (mostly just for hemming raw denim and shirts), but this is the first time for repairs. I brought in my favorite linen jacket that had a tear developing on the elbow due to wear. This is a special jacket with a silky lining that ran through the sleeves so repairs would be quite elaborate. I brought in my jacket, and Galina was really helpful and meticulous: she explained how she would need to unthread the sleeve lining in order to repair the tear on the elbow (this way the repair won't obstruct through the lining). She also mentioned she would need to find softer/delicate fabric thread that would match the linen when repairing the tear. Right when she explained the details to me I knew I was in good hands. It took about a weeks time before the repairs were finished. When I picked up the jacket, she showed me the repair and it was A++ excellent work! I'm really into vintage Americana menswear and this repair technique that Galina used is called "Darning", which is a repair technique practiced by artisans in the 1950's where instead of patching a fabric over a hole, one would mend it by knitting new fabric by interweaving yarn. This repair technique requires A LOT of skill and cannot be done by just any alterations person. I was honestly shocked by her work, and the funny thing was she didn't even know what "Darning" was. She's just that good! Overall my experience was amazing as usual. This repair cost $35 (which is a really good deal in my opinion). I gave her a tip as usual and it was worth every penny. If I could give zero stars I would. I saw the amazing reviews for this place so I decided to bring my wedding dress here. I needed an alteration only in the chest area and then my bustle. This dress is a fit and flare style so it fit me perfect when I took it in; except for the chest area. Where I bought it from they wanted to charge me an additional $1000 to adjust that which is why I decided to look elsewhere. Galina took her measurements and that was that. Price was reasonable so I left her a deposit. The day comes that I pick up and the dress does not go up my hip area....I had to to put the dress on by bringing it over my head instead of slipping into it. That was first red flag because that was going to be an issue because my hair and makeup would get ruined. We slid the dress over my head and then she is pulling on this dress down hard to get it to fit. She comments "wow what happened, you gained weight. You really let yourself go..." Like what???? How could I have possibly gained that much weight for the dress not to fit me. She kept commenting on my weight and telling me I needed to lose weight, mind you this is three weeks before the wedding! I take my dress home and have my mom look at it. We flip it over and notice that she has cut and sewn over an inch on each side of the dress as you can see in the picture. Of course the dress doesn't fit me! I wasn't even able to sit down in the dress, I would have had to stand all night ... I'm stressed because how can this be happening three weeks away. I decide to take the dress somewhere else and she was able to undo everything that Galina had done. I am now days away from my wedding and my dress fits me just as it did when I first picked it up.. Definitely would not reccomend this place for important alterations. Not just because of what she did to my dress but because she always has something to say about people with curves. My cousin took her dress needed for this wedding to get an alteration and Galina told her she needed to lose a couple pounds first before she did anything to it. While there she received several phone calls and in front of me would tell these callers "no I can't do that, buy a bigger size". She can definitely work on the way she says these things. I'm writing this review because this lady made me feel terrible and I want others to see the experience I went through. read more

This place is a big no! I've never heard of a company being so rude. The son and the mother were both rude to my mom when she tried dropping off a dress for me to have the zipper fixed. We ended up going to another place because they were rude for absolutely no reason I'm telling you guys save your time and stress and go somewhere else. I'm not sure if it is because of cultural differences or what but they are rude as hell as if they don't even want your services and are not accommodating. Galina is a pro! She did an amazing job on my dress and my husband's suit for our City Hall wedding ceremony. She finished my dress and his suit within a week and was very affordable for such a quality job. For my dress, she added two layers of fabric in the front, so the chest area wasn't see-through, because the original fabric was very thin. She also hemmed my dress and added a slit in the back. For my husband's suit, she fitted it perfectly and tapered his pants for a more modern look. The suit was from Amazon and she did such a great job tailoring it, it looked very dapper. In the midst of preparing for other wedding-related priorities, I totally overlooked the need to have my suit altered. Commercial establishments such as Men's Wearhouse prefer to alter suits that were purchased from their store (no surprise here). With that in mind, I decided to take my suit to Galina's. Being that my wedding was two weeks away, I needed someone who could expedite the job without sacrificing the quality of the alteration. Based on past experiences (years prior to me becoming a Yelper), I decided to give the job to Galina. I explained the situation to Galina, and she promised to have the job done in 4 days. There was no verbal foreplay, she got straight to the job and started "pinning" my measurements. Less than 10 minutes later I was done! As promised, the suit was ready 4 days later. I tried it on and was satisfied by not only the fit, but also by the quality of Galina's stitching. I expressed my gratitude for her sense of urgency in regards to getting the job done. Galina told me "Congrats" and sent me off with some words of wisdom in regards to marriage. Ironically, my wife had her wedding dress altered at Galina's.
