However, the owner was not as upfront and informative as he shoud have been. We called to get a breaker replaced for the water heater. He sent a truck to our home with two service technicians. Long story short, he admitted that it was a one person job but since he had two techs in the truck he billed us for both. The bill was 750.00 to replace one breaker. When we complained, he said, "I'm sorry we are to expensive for you." If I was told that two technicians were coming and being billed as such, I would have called another company. You decide for yourself if this is fair business or not.

For some reason, the Yelp app would not let me update that review directly which is why I am doing it here Izak did the work for the latest job on April 8th 2025. He did the troubleshooting on the garbage disposal not working. He found a faulty switch and receptacle and replaced things as should be. Just like the other tech he was focused, efficient, swift in the matter while being customer friendly as well. Thank you Isak!. Just as any other company JJ electric Service is a combination of the people who do the work per se and those managing the work. The two people with whom I connected were Richard and Jen. Just as their techs, they communicate well with the customers, and show transparency and honesty about what they can or cannot do. Electrical work is expensive yet the cost of both jobs shows that they are not taking advantage of their customers. Thank you. They did flooring, a brand new kitchen and bathroom, tile work, painting, electrical, plumbing, and several custom carpentry projects, including a large banquette facing the ocean. Everything was first class. Brooke is a great communicator - she responded to every email promptly and thoroughly, and we always felt listened to and taken care of. When questions arose, we would get an email or a call, asking us how we wanted things done. Brooke and Matt would meet with us at their office or at our condo to go over details. Matt is an artist at what he does, and an absolute perfectionist. When our shower tile was halfway complete, Matt was not satisfied with how it was turning out. He had the subcontractor take the tile off and start over, and the end result is beautiful. Were there hiccups? Of course, every project has them. But the bottom line is how those challenges, surprises, and changes are handled. We always felt in the loop, and all the challenges were met with quality (and sometimes very creative) solutions. Every detail of our new place is just to our liking - we could not be more pleased. You might be able to find cheaper contractors out there, but Matt and Brooke will treat you like old friends, and will do the job as if you are family.

Darby was quick to respond, met me onsite (around my schedule), and provide an estimate while onsite at his initial visit. He and his better half (his lovely wife Amber) were a joy to work with; friendly, honest and reliable. We couldn't be happier with the quality of work performed. He is very meticulous, making sure every tile was perfectly set before moving on to the next. We will be hiring DTW again to tile our fireplace and floors. The last time was the cheapest, just under $800 to replace the boots on the vents in the roof that they said were the actual cause of the problem. Then it rained a few days later and the roof leaked in places it had never leaked before. Sometimes I have had to call several times to get a response, and then weeks go by before someone actually comes out. Each person who comes out has a different idea about the leaks. They do not seem to talk to one another or to review the photos or other evidence other workers have collected. They do assure me that it's fixed and they do bill me. The billing is fast. I suspect someone calls when they have nothing else going. I realize this review makes me look gullible and stupid. That's my excuse. But the roof still leaks.

We hired Costal Roofing and Repair to put a new roof on our newly purchased house in early December…read more2020 because they were recommended by our realtor. But we should have checked the other Yelp reviews and the Oregon Construction Contractors complaint record before hiring this company. Coastal Roofing and Repair has had 3 license suspensions for no liability insurance and penalties and disciplinary action for other violations. We found that the owner, Matt Brien, is very difficult to work with. When we addressed questions and concerns regarding the result of their completed work, he became quite hostile and belligerent. Soon after the roof was installed in December, we had a leak in our pantry causing significant water damage to the ceiling, walls, and shelving. When we notified Matt about the leak, he did come out and patch the roof around the sky-light but became very belligerent and resorted to name calling when we asked if they were going fix the water damage. We ended up asking our realtor to speak with Matt, and only then did he repair the water damage. A subsequent inspection of our roof by another roofing company showed that the skylight bases had not been wrapped in Ice and Water shield as is typical, and that probably lead to the leak in the pantry. A couple of weeks later we found we had some torn and detached shingles on the new roof from the winter storms. It took Matt about 10 days to come out and repair that problem. He initially resisted and wanted to wait until the end of the storm season to repair all the damage to the roof shingles. We also found several visible cracks in the sheetrock on our ceiling in several places which I have been told by other roofing companies is likely caused by the roofing crew carrying and dropping large bundles of shingles on the roof as they are installing. We feel very frustrated that it has been impossible to communicate with Matt over any roof problems, have lost confidence that the roof was installed with quality workmanship, and concerned that our roof will be properly covered by the 5-year warranty. Be sure to check the Yelp reviews and the state Construction Contractors complaint record before hiring a company!
