This is the best place for kids to learn gymnastics in Bakersfield! All the coaches truly love working with kids and are dedicated to creating a safe, fun, and comfortable environment. They also communicate really well with parents, which we appreciate. My daughter was previously at American Kids, but we weren't satisfied. Now, we're so happy we made the switch! We love it here! We prefer Galaxy over the alternative gym choice, and their coaches are way better here! My daughter has progressed so much in her gymnastics skills here, she went from not being able to do a cartwheel a couple years ago, to getting her back-hand spring. No one is ever sitting around/waiting in line, you certainly get your moneys worth in coaching and activity- I appreciate this place a lot. Staff is also very helpful and friendly! read more

Overpriced,poorly managed.The way gymnastics works is they will immediately spot who they want to move up to higher levels within a year.If the coach doesn't talk to you within a year,you're basically just going to end up paying $100/month for your kid to go workout for an hour once/week. That's the gymnastics racket. We informed these people we wouldn't be renewing our membership for the month of June.May was completely paid for.They tried to kick us out of the last May class on May 31st,and tried embarrassing my daughter and I in front of everyone. Unfortunately for them, we were still bound by contract til the end of May. So, despite their half-witted best efforts to kick us out of the class early, we were still able to finish the class. In summary, if your child is interested in gymnastics, stay for a year.If they don't get pulled up in that timeframe, don't bother sticking around. There is no communication between coaches and parents. If you want your child to get a work out,go sign them up at Planet Fitness, it's 10x less expensive, and you can go whenever you want. read more

Today was my first time and my daughter loved it. I originally came from American kids and honestly the set up is exactly the same. The classes are split into small groups which allows sufficient coaching. Overall I AM PLEASED with THE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! Now if you're the kind of person that focuses on the waiting room arrangement or crumbs on the table, not getting a smile from the front desk girl then grow up. I called and the lady who answered was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and scheduled my walk in appointment. When I arrived I walked up to the front desk introduced my daughter and I. Like the previous review stated they were expecting me. My daughter was temperature checked and allowed to join in class while I filled out paperwork. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I love this gym- it's on the smaller side which I love bc you can literally watch your kid from the sideline. The front desk staff always greet my daughter by name which I think is sweet. It's clean and organized. The staff are energetic and friendly. My kids instructor is Harley (pretty sure her name is Harley ) and she's great with the kids and seems like a sweet girl in general. She gladly wears my daughters assistive listening device which helps a lot. But most importantly my kid always looks forward to going and has a great time. read more

I would give this place a zero if it was an option. What an absolute joke of a facility. The worst instructors with a personality equivalent to watching paint dry; poor work ethic; and no control of the kids in their class. Let's begin with Emma, it wouldn't kill you to smile. At least attempt to appear that you want to be there. You have poor people skills and with that unflattering attitude you will not make it far in life from a professional standpoint. Next, Tristan. You have an extremely unwelcoming attitude and I am blown away that anybody would hire you to work around kids. By far, you are the laziest of the bunch and I have no idea how you got hired to begin with. Lastly, Halli. You do have a friendly demeanor and seem to actually like kids unlike the other two abrasive instructors. Your problem is that you have zero control of your kids. You permit kids to do as they please and do not set boundaries in order to provide a positive experience for all kids in your class. I personally observed you playing patty cake with a girl while the other kids were left to fend for themselves. No structure whatsoever in your class so you shouldn't be teaching if you're too lazy. This place does not deserve your money people. The laziest instructors who don't want to be there. You can't have a flourishing business when your employees hate their job. Go to American Kids instead or somewhere where instructors aren't extremely lazy. Get your act together Galaxy or eventually you'll lose all of your clientele and your business will literally cease to exist. read more

Over crowded, small for the amount of classes going on and coaches are dressed in SLIPPERS and JEANS. There are NO seats 90% of the time and each class is an hour to two hours long and you (the parent) are standing the whole time. The restroom doors WILL hit you or come very close to you if you are seated on the chairs in the area due to it being a small space. It's very awkward and uncomfortable. Galaxy should DEFINITELY consider upgrading to a bigger facility. Location is perfect in the area it's in because many parents I know also agree. It's just a small facility. Coaches could also pay more attention to your child detail while they are coaching. Coaches also need to preform the move when teaching and half of the coaches do not do this at all. Coaches lack initiative and detail. If you like about 6 INCHES of space between you and the next person while you support and wait for your child then this Galaxy location won't bother you. read more

I used to take my kids to Galaxy Sports Group a few years back then stopped because of our busy schedule but now they have so many more class time choices at their new location that we have to get them back in their classes. GSG is a great place for kids to release some energy while learning new things. They have several classes throughout the day from Gymnastics, Tumbling, and others. Check their website for the days and times. My daughter is currently taking Gymnastics and she loves it! Her instructor is caring and always making sure the girls are focus, doing the right moves, and having fun! She is one of the reasons my daughter loves going to GSG. Their new place is bigger and much nicer. The employees are still awesome and friendly. Plus they make sure to welcome you when you walk in. If you need a place that teaches your kids good gymnastics techniques then this is the right place for your kiddos. read more

I am a big fan of Yelp! It's my go to app..especially when I'm out of town looking for a great place to eat or finding something for my kids to do. This post is way overdue and ONLY because "THE REAL MANAGER (if he/she does exist) has yet to return my call!!!!!! Like any other Yelper I went off the reviews of this place which were spot on and parents first experience was great...we also have friends that like this place and friends that love it and we have been to a couple of Birthday party's at Galaxy..I was never a big fan of this place BUT I decided to try it out BAD IDEA and very SHOCKED that this is rated 4 stars... I gave them 1star because the first girl who answered the phone was very friendly and her customer service was great..she was able to find me a class on a Wednesday (drop in for $25) so yes I was excited and my daughter was not too excited to go to Galaxy only because she attended American Kids when she was 5 and now at 8 years old she DID NOT want me to take her to Galaxy.... I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO HER!!!!!! I finally convinced her, stopped at Target and spent $20 on a leotard not because I wanted too but I had high hopes of Galaxy and her dad said "IF SHE LIKES IT JUST SIGN HER UP" As soon as I walked in I WAS NOT GREETED and there were 2 girls sitting at the desk so I said hi, introduced myself and my daughter and I STILL NOT GREETED!!!! WOW! The girl then puts paperwork on the counter DOES NOT SAY ONE WORD TO ME so I grab the paperwork off the counter BECAUSE IT WAS NOT HANDED TO ME and tell her FILL IT OUT BRING IT BACK TO YOU and she FINALLY SPOKE and said yes.. I walked away and out loud said THAT WAS AWKWARD!!!! I then go into the area where there are tables and chairs IT WAS SO DIRTY, tables had crumbs of something AND every table was dirty along with the floor :/ If it weren't for the convincing my daughter to try this place out I WOULD OF WALKED OUT THE MINUTE THE FRONT DESK WAS RUDE!!! I finally walk back..hand her the paperwork and she spoke THE EXCITEMENT OF GETTING SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE out of her was ABOUT TIME! But SADLY didn't last! so HOW RUDE!! I HAD TO ask the name of the coach? Alyssa she's subbing for that class I HAD TO ASK Will you introduce my daughter to the coach? Her reply "I will show you who she is" I MEAN REALLY???? So I pay the $25 drop in...she then walks us out to the gym area and points out the sub and says she will walk to this gate and call out for the class and show her the slip OK so we sat there and sat there and she NEVER CAME TO THE GATE TO CALL FOR THE CLASS....at 6:04 I walk to the front desk and tell her the sub never came to the gate and she's with kids stretching and unfortunately for the front desk girl who never greeted us had to walk my daughter out to the sub... I waited for her to come back and opened the door to the table area and I asked to speak to a MANAGER and she said not until tomorrow...so after class I got my daughter and walked out... there was no point in stopping at the front desk NOT AFTER THAT! Sadly my daughter liked the class and was excited to go back! She said her coach asked her if she went to American kids and she said yes and coach told her HER HANDSTANDS WERE REALLY GOOD so my daughter was excited and thanked me for taking her to Galaxy and after class the coach said HOPE YOU COME BACK AND NOT GO TO AMERICAN KIDS... Truthfully American Kids treats you like family, their facilities are clean and it's all about getting to know your child, greeting them by name and really just a great place that a parent can appreciate while watching their kids excel :) YOU HAVE YET TO RETURN TO MY CALL and yes I called and the first girl that took my call stated she was the manager and after telling her my experience she stated she was the front desk manager lol she fooled me until she told me she would have the manager call me back! WHO IS THE REAL MANAGER OF GALAXY? WHY IS IT OKAY FOR 2 FRONT DESK GIRLS TO JUST SIT THERE AND NOT GREET PEOPLE? My daughter was there March 29th and I didn't have the energy or time to call and complain the very next day so I gave myself the weekend to cool off..but I did call and was told all spots were all of a sudden full and she would be on a waiting list??? Maybe the $25 drop in fee you charged me and wouldn't refund me back could go towards customer service classes :) My daughter didn't get her full class at 6pm because the front desk girl walked her back at 6:05 all thanks to your staff and still no refund!!!!! My family friend goes there and I've watched her practice a few times. She loves her class, and wants to be a gymnastics coach. The coaches I've seen love what they do, and it shows. I've seen them explain and demonstrate a skill to the gymnasts and tumblers, spot them, and encourage them to do their best. They have a foam pit (that in itself is awesome), the pre-K kids have their own area, and everyone I've met there is super nice and helpful. They have gymnastics, tumbling and trampoline, and ninja classes which I guess is like kid parkour. If I was young enough to do gymnastics again, I would go here. read more

Galaxy is absolutely great! My daughter went there to do gymnastics for 3 years on team. The coaches there are great, although they work your child tough. They helped my daughter to believe that she could go to the Olympic and be who she wanted to be. We have been EXTREMELY happy with Galaxy! This gym has more of a family feel to it than another gym we have been to in town. The instructors are all skilled, friendly, and professional. They are very good at accessing each child's skill and teaching them accordingly. The office staff is also very friendly and easy to work with. My children take tumbling and cirque acrobatics classes. They also have pole vaulting. This really is the best gym in town! read more

This gym has become a huge disappointment since we moved from another local gym to Galaxie. The most experienced coach left and the Owner has yet to replace the coach with an experienced coaching staff. The organization is horrible and someone's child is going to get hurt if they aren't careful. The existing staff is way over their head. The female coach has carried her personal life into the gym and it's affecting the kids. We have left the gym like many others to be with the experienced coach and we couldn't be happier. This gym needs to replace management and coaches if they want to survive. This is a dangerous sport and should only trusted with experienced coaches that know when. The coaching staff is in over their head. Leave your personal life at home and focus on the kids. If you want a gym that is safe and fun for your kids, I would look for another gym in Bakersfield. read more
