The Nook is a really special place. In my opinion, places like Mirasol are extremely overrated…read morecompared to what The Nook offers. The drinks here are outstanding. The Painkiller is fantastic, especially if you add caramel. The Epic Vanilla Skooma is dangerously addictive - the flavor profile is incredible, and honestly nobody else in the area comes close. The Buzz is another excellent choice. The food is just as impressive. Their linguica and cheese rolls are leagues above the competition, and I'd put them alongside the very best around. I highly recommend ordering a regular cheese roll leveled up with egg, bacon, and their house-made hot sauce. If you enjoy a Portuguese style hot sauce, this combination is absolutely worth trying - you will not be disappointed. The peanut butter cookie is unreal; I genuinely wish I had the recipe. The baked goods are consistently excellent, and whenever they have a special, just order it. I've rarely been disappointed by anything they've made. I used to live nearby and honestly miss having this place around. Their pizzas deserve recognition too. They're some of my favorite bar style pizzas in the area. If you prefer an ultra thin pizza, you might lean toward Dipper Cafe, but it's hard to beat The Meatball Thing, the Thanksgiving pizza during the holidays, and many of their other specialty pies. The atmosphere adds even more to the experience. They have arcade style games you can play while you wait, and the music is always great. If you're into King Diamond or heavier music, you'll probably hear something you love. If you live nearby or are just passing through the area, don't skip The Nook. For me - and for everyone I've recommended it to - The Nook easily earns the title of best coffee shop in the area.

-ONE PARAGRAPH REVIEW-…read more The Nook has great coffee. The Nook has great food- not entrés but café stuff: sandwich rolls, focaccias, muffins, etc. The Nook has old school, retro vibes. It has rock music vibes. It has creative, inspirational vibes. It has quiet, read-a-book-in-the-nook vibes but also loud Donkey Kong-guitar riff-crunchin' vibes; depending on the time and the day. It's perhaps a tad too small inside, but that's what makes it a nook. Lots of hot and iced coffee options, food is quality over quantity: get their signature cheese or linguica roll as-is or "leveled up" to make it an egg sandwich because it's the best around. And their focaccias are made like a pizza and imo are better than their actual pizza! Ok that's a paragraph!

-ONE PARAGRPAH REVIEW!!-…read more Ok, a bar scene is all about its atmosphere. And this place has it in spades. I came on a July night. The "garage" is practically an outdoor bar, and the inside is just as warm, fun, inviting. Dan was our bartender. He's the man, and that's not just cause it rhymes. He's the man, and with more bartenders like him this place is the place I want to be when I'm looking to have a good time. Oh, and the tuna tacos was to die for. I know it cause I'm dead!!!!

The Dipper Café absolutely nailed it with their pizzas...I…read moretried the Portuguese Feast and the Hawaiian because they had a sale going on in the DoorDash app for 20% off. Honestly, they're some of the best pies I've ever had. The crust had that perfect balance of charred and crispy on the outside, but still substantial enough to give the whole pizza some heft. Unlike a lot of thinner crust spots nothing here felt dry or brittle/falling apart every bite. The flavors were phenomenal. The Portuguese Feast had thick cut banana peppers, ground linguica and pieces of garlic that worked so well together. The Hawaiian was classic/what you'd expect. It hit that sweet-and-savory balance just right with cubed chunks of ham and pineapple. Both were a little on the greasy side, but it's the kind of good greasy you expect from a satisfying pizza...easily managed with a napkin lol. If you're into pizza that has character, and haven't given this place a try yet, it is worth every bite. Was even great and fresh delivered. Next time I'd like to try it fresh out of the oven!
