Great repair shop , very good knowledge of most auto needs from oil change to transmission repair. I have been using them for over 25 years. Also very trustworthy! read more

Was just quoted $120 for an oil change. A bummer because they're just down the street from me but will definitely be going elsewhere.

Friendly service and respectable business. Got an urgently needed oil change when most shops were telling me they were closed for the weekend. Thanks to Carlos, he diligently took good care of my BMW at a fair price. read more

I went to Galaxy because my car was leaking transmission fluid at a rapid rate. I am very loyal to my guy in Queens, but I couldn't get my car there safely, and he doesn't tow, so I decided to look locally. First, Galaxy recommended a guy who could tow me on my own schedule. His name was AJ, and admittedly I was a little skeptical at first since the call clearly went to his personal phone with a club style ringback, but he was on time and hilarious. He even drove me to the place and was really cool about it. He even offered to drive me to the train afterward, even though I declined because I felt bad. Second, I was expecting the repairs to be more than my car is worth (it's old and abused, but I just can't let go of it). They immediately raised it to take a look underneath while I stood there. Before doing any work, they physically showed and explained it to me that it was just a severe dent in my oil pan that was pressing on my fluid line. So, they replaced my oil pan, fluids, gaskets and filters that same day, and it wasn't expensive at all. They very easily could have made up some BS and charged me out the wazoo, but they didn't. In summary, no gimmicks, they are very nice, quick and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to a friend. The only downside for me is that they close at 6, so I had trouble getting there in the evening, but they open promptly at 8am, so it's not that bad. read more

I'm always very, very dubious of auto mechanics. I've been ripped off plenty of times by reputable repair shops. My dad has been an avid customer of Galaxy Motors for years, and always asked me why insisted on expensive repairs from my dealer, when Galaxy was clearly just as good as anyone else. I've dealt with them many times in the past few years, and they have done work for less that my Dealership would have charged me hundreds of dollars for. If you live in the area, they are worth it. read more

Carlos is the man! I was being jerked around by AAA over them making good on a bad battery I purchased from Them (they owed me a replacement for under warranty). Two different technicians told me my alternator was broken and the battery was fine, trying to avoid giving me a replacement. I was lucky enough to have Carlos' expertise to provide the reality check. He immediately identified that the alternator was fine and helped me get back up and running. Honest, knowledgable, and highly recommended! read more

There's always work for a good mechanic and these dudes are good. The place looks a little rough but they're totally legit and most importantly, super honest. Auto repair is an easy business to take advantage of vulnerable customers but these dudes come through every time. I've even tried playing ignorant with them when I actually have a pretty good idea and diagnosis as to what the problem is just to see what they will suggest and they always are totally fair and honest and suggest the correct and least expensive solution. Go see Carlos and he will do right by you without any condescending tone or sleazy dealing which is much more than I can say for plenty of seemingly cleaner businesses in the neighborhood. read more

Everything Benjamin said is right on target. This family business is run by solid, honest, hardworking people whose auto repair knowledge is top notch. We have a thirty year old car and they always go the extra mile to keep it running smoothly at a minimal cost. read more

Carlos is wonderful! The problem with being really good is that other people know as well. The shop is busy! I have an older Toyota that Carlos keeps smoothly running. He knows how to think creatively to fix all the horrible things NYC does to your car. Also he will let you search junkyards to come up with the parts-saves a ton of money. read more

Exciting to find a mechanic with integrity and pride who also charges a fair amount. Recently had work done and not only did they work on my car immediately and get all important issues addressed, months later when one of the parts failed, they fixed without hesitation. They have found a dedicated customer and would refer their services for anyone looking for trusting mechanic. read more

Been coming to this shop for a couple years now. They do everything and do it very well and professionally. The prices are unbeatable and they are quick at getting your car fixed or whatever you need done. Highly highly recommend. read more

Carlos and his wife are the best. Been coming here for 4 years and they are always super honest and do great work. So nice to find people I can trust with my car in this city. I have a 2003 Subaru and they always go out of their way for me even tho my car has some serious rust issues. Often times they won't charge me for small services or talk me out of doing unnecessary repairs. This car would have died a long time ago without Galaxy. Jordan M read more

I am so thankful to have found Galaxy Motors! I needed my side mirror fixed for the second time and had previously paid hundreds of dollars at my dealership. Carlos and Ana were efficient in finding me a new mirror and installing it within a few hours. I ended up paying about a third of what I paid last time. I feel relieved to have finally found an honest and friendly mechanic close by. read more

I went to Galaxy motors after reading all the 5 star reviews on Yelp to fix a check engine light and brake issue. I arrived 9am on Saturday and the lady was nice and let us know they were too busy to fix the problem that day, but would take a look at the brakes and let us know what was wrong. A couple hours later we came back and she said (sounding really flustered) they didn't know what either issue was because they needed to scan the car on the computer, but they had too much going on. She couldn't give us a time to come back (like later in the week) or recommend another shop to fix the issue. I found that odd because what company would turn down business? I wanted to make Galaxy my go-to shop in the neighborhood but I couldn't even get them to take my car. read more

I'll put it this way... Galaxy Motors is so good that I spent the time to figure out my Yelp password and get on here to review them. Seriously, I don't know how they do it but every time I bring my car to them, it's hundreds and hundreds of dollars less than I would expect it to cost. They even greet me by name when I get there, which is a crazy concept in NYC. If you're looking at this page right now, trying to figure out where to bring your car to get repaired/oil changed/whatever, stop looking and just go to Galaxy Motors. read more

First timer here... took my awesome vintage '95 Camry in to Carlos with a brake problem. He is a great communicator and shows you everything. Fashioned a brake line himself for me to save a few bucks. Took care of a few other things while the gas tank was removed (had to take it out to install the new brake line) for very minimal additional billed labor time. Overall, extremely happy with the experience. So good to find a mechanic I can trust - so many in BK will rob you blind and expect you to thank them for it. 5 STARS A++! read more

Not being from Brooklyn I was initially a little sketched out at the thought of leaving my car across the street from project housing, but it was no problem . Car was safe, staff was super friendly and price was good -- got oil change and tire rotation. On the way to pick up my car, walking out of subway, my foot got cut and without knowing it I was bleeding ... On the floor of their office ... They didn't freak out or get mad , their main concern was me getting foot cleaned , rubbing alcohol, etc, thru the kindness of their reaction I can only surmise that these are good good people read more

My go to place! They are helpful without being pushy and very knowledgeable of cars and how to do a job in the most cost effective way! I always get in and get out with my oil changes. Won't take my cars anywhere else! read more

Best mechanic I've ever met. Carlos is extremely knowledgeable and his service is honest, thorough, and very cost effective. He will happily use parts you supply or source them for a reasonable cost. All in all, I've probably saved more than $1,000 using Carlos exclusively and my 20-year-old truck is in the best possible shape. If you want the bare minimum, Carlos will do it, no questions asked. But where his work really shines is in his foresight. For example, he'll do a $15 welding job today that will save you $500 tomorrow, or replace a few rusted parts at cost because he's already done the labor required to access them. There's a simple explanation: many of his clients become customers for life. Let this man take care of your car and you'll learn time and time again just how much an ounce of prevention is worth. read more

I walked in to get an oil change and the guys there were super helpful and great. My engine light had been on for a few days and they ran some tests and fixed the problem (as far as I can tell) while I waited. It was all-in-all very prompt, affordable, and a positive experience. Highly recommend!!! read more

Wonderfully kind, honest, and fast. I almost want my car to break again so I can go visit them again.

Galaxy has worked on our 2001 Subaru legacy a few times and I could not recommend them enough. They take good care of the car, and do it honestly and cheaply - a rare trait in this city. It's great to support this family business. read more

I brought my VW Passat here twice, both times they were fair, honest and friendly. Can't ask for more. What a relief to find a good mechanic. I'm close by but I would say it's worth driving here even if you're not. read more

Carlos is great! very educated and honest Mechanic, I went in thinking my 2009 Lexus Is 250 had a suspension issue because of some noise I heard but he took it for a drive and concluded something else. Got some nuts and bolts greased up and out the door. Very good experience! will be returning to get my AC recharged. read more

I get why everyone has given them five stars. Drop your car off in the morning. Pick it up in the evening. They even called me midday to notify me that the oil change was successful, and that no other issues were present with my car. Price was right for NYC. I plan to use them again for anything else my car needs. read more

Can't recommend this shop enough. Couldn't have been more concerned about the front end work I had done on my '84 El Camino. Fair price, honest fast labor. Great shop. read more

I went into Galaxy Motors for an oil change. They were friendly, informative, quick, and great to work with. So happy with their service!

I had a grinding sound coming from my AWD Volvo station wagon. Some internet sleuthing pointed to a faulty rear driveshaft. I took it to a European auto specialist in Amityville, they quoted me at $450 just to remove the shaft to determine whether it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. If repaired, another $1500 minimum in labor, if replaced, they were charging $1000 for the part and another $1000 minimum to install. Considering I'd paid $2000 for the car, I was bummed. Some further online sleuthing, and I found a place online that mails a full drive shaft (I believe they are called Colorado Drive Shaft) for $550, with a $100 rebate if the old one is mailed back. So I talked to Carlos at Galaxy (my girlfriend found him on Yelp, trusted the positive reviews). Long story short, he agreed to replace the drive shaft for $145. The shaft came in, and they replaced it that same day (and even replaced the fuel pump, which I had an extra one already, for FREE). The bill came to $147.50 (I think he charged me for a washer/nut that didn't come on the new shaft). I tipped his guy $20, I was so happy. Currently waiting on new parts to arrive (timing belt, engine mounts) to head back there again. If you do the research and narrow it down (buying a $50 computer that plugs into your dash to read engine codes will save you a fortune), Carlos is the man. He saved me over $2,000. If you don't happen to have a family member who is a mechanic, Carlos is the next best thing. read more

I discovered this gem in Bushwick, by word of mouth. I still read the reviews and was even more encouraged to go there. After dealing with shyster mechanics and thieves, I was so relieved to finally find my permanent shop. All I needed was an inspection test to be done. Carlos fit me in as he had several other cars there. He informed me that I needed new front shocks and my ball joints needed to be replaced, which explained the creaking noise I was driving around with. He quoted me a reasonable price and was done the next day inspection and all. It turns out one of the bolts holding one of the shocks had snapped some time ago and he had a very hard time removing it, but he and his crew got it done at no extra cost. My car drives like a dream now. This is a family run place and they are very courteous and helpful. I recommend this place to everyone. They don't try to up sell and will accommodate you with pricing, offering prices from inexpensive parts to higher priced parts. They will also suggest the best quality for your situation. read more

I got all four of my struts replaced for just over $1000, which was considerably less than other quotes I'd received. Their communication and customer service is excellent, and the price is right! read more

Imagine my panic when my car would not start. A new Brooklyn resident who barely knows her way around, I freaked out at the thought of finding a good mechanic. After seeing the yelp reviews I gave Galaxy a shot and was BEYOND PLEASED! The staff was extremely informative, timely and efficient. They took their time to give me the most cost effective service and not take advantage a woman who knows very little about cars. Needless to say, I will always bring my car to Galaxy Motors for service. read more

I don t usually take the time to write a review but these guys were SO professional, fast, and efficient that I just have to tip my hat to them. They provided a free same day estimate on the work that needed to be done and delivered the vehicle back to me working perfectly in two days with final charges under the original estimate. LOVE THEM! read more

Definitely not the place to go, I went in for regular oil change and they tried to scam me into additional unneeded work. They tried to actually tell me my bolts were bad and that they were going to fall off, haha. I stayed in the garage from that point on, did not have them change anything but the oil and of course nothing was wrong with anything. The next time I took it for an oil change I asked the guy and he laughed and said that's a scam. All I want to do is go in and pay for the job I need, not to have them try and take advantage. Really disgusting when people do that. read more
