I was shocked to see some bad reviews for AAA Quality Preparations. We had our house painted by…read moreanother painter twice over the years, and the paint jobs didn't last as long as they should. Eric from AAA was recommended to me by a friend for whom he had done a lot of painting. He painted our house, really excellent job, and it's been way more years now than our earlier painting lasted. After that I had him paint a rental house we own, and again terrific job, and no peeling anywhere, and it's been a number of years. His guys were very good, careful cleanup. Can't say good enough good things. Ken Potter, Valley Cottage, NY.

In the time that they were here, he disappeared without notice twice for a week at a time. Leaving someone wondering around painting things at random just to stay busy. We have random paint on our storm windows, when the gutter people came it was discovered that Eric and crew had painted on rotten wood. It had to be replace and repainted. I even had to ask the gutter people to do touch up on places that AAA missed. We also received a bill for carpentry with no explanation, just a number. Now, in less than a year, a piece of the soffit has crashed to the ground and the paint is bubbling around the house. It's awful. As we explore what our options are, I thought I'd share some of our story. I'd think twice before contracting with Eric and AAA.

I posted a review about the Hunny Done List Company at the end of last year where I rated Adam and…read morehis company as 5 star. In November with winter approaching, we asked Adam to remove snow accumulations on our walkway, sidewalk and driveway. That was one of the smartest decisions I made....as everyone knows we had a lot of snowfall last year. They did an excellent job - an EXCELLENT JOB.. They made sure my property and my concrete apron were clear. Then last month I asked them to return to our house and finish four other projects that I want done. Again an excellent job. These guys are on time, polite, knowledgeable, and very efficient. If you have any work you are considering on your property, I would suggest that you contact Adam, discuss your project with him and see what he recommends. You might like working with him.....

I want to give an honest firsthand account of what took place here because the experience my family…read morewent through was handled in a way no one should have to deal with. Our neighbor had hired this company to handle snow removal during the blizzard. The day before things escalated, my mother spoke with our neighbor outside and calmly let him know that the crew should avoid putting snow onto our side of the property. He said he would pass it along. The following morning the crew returned and deposited snow in the same areas anyway. My mother stepped outside around 9:41 AM and made a polite request for the crew to stop. The very first thing the owner said back to her was a sarcastic good morning. She told him she had no desire to argue and that this had already happened the previous day. He responded with a brief philosophical remark about what you put into the universe, told her no problem, and walked away without doing anything. My father had been asleep after working a night shift. He came out once he realized the snow was still there and made a straightforward request for the crew to remove it. The owner responded by turning to his crew and instructing them out loud to ignore my father while he was standing right there. My father explained his situation. The owner brushed it off as though the concern was about where future snow might go, not the snow already sitting on our property and blocking our gate. My father went back inside. Less than a minute after telling his crew to disregard my father, the owner walked over to our neighbor and stated that he had already apologized to us. No apology of any kind had taken place. That claim later became the foundation for every apology reference made in public responses about this incident. Around 9:58 AM the crew appeared to be heading toward their trucks as though they were about to leave. The snow was still on our property. My father came back out, and that alone is the reason it was eventually removed. He told them plainly he just needed that snow taken care of. The owner responded by questioning what snow he was referring to. When my father pointed to it, the owner responded with a rude comment directed at him. That was the first harsh language in the entire interaction, and it came from the owner. He followed it up by referring to my father sarcastically and saying the snow would melt around June. As my father and I walked toward the snow, the owner told us in crude terms to get away, despite the fact that it was sitting on our property. At the same time, without my knowledge, the owner's son pulled a shovel from the truck and threw it in my direction while my back was turned. I only found out after reviewing security camera footage. I tried to have a calm conversation. He cut me off. I pointed to the fence posts separating our two properties and asked how we were supposed to access our gate. He said so what, then made another crude remark about the number of properties he had worked on. My mother offered the simplest resolution: remove what the crew put there and we are done. The owner told her she lacked intelligence, repeated three times that the storm snow justified where his crew placed it, then claimed it came from the town plow. That was his third explanation, after saying the crew could not see the driveway and before that that they mistook it for grass. He then mocked her accent and taunted her. A neighbor watching from nearby said she had been planning to hire him and no longer would. He told her not to. When I mentioned we had footage of the crew moving snow onto our property, the owner's son told us to go ahead and watch it. We are keeping it private out of respect for everyone involved, but we have it. The snow was not removed until nearly 27 minutes after my mother's first request. As the crew left, the owner's son directed an obscene gesture at our family caught on our doorbell camera. The owner confirmed this in his public response. It was the only thing he acknowledged. A few points worth clarifying: The owner introduced harsh language into this situation, directed at my father. My mother's first strong language came 25 minutes later, in direct response to the owner's son directing it at me unprovoked. She was responding, not initiating. No apology was ever made. My mother told the owner directly that an apology and a commitment to clean up was all it would have taken. He never offered either. The fence posts are clearly visible. I pointed to them. The owner said so what. Our family had known our neighbors for nearly twenty years. That relationship is now damaged, not over snow landing in the wrong place, but over how every moment of this was handled. Two sentences and a shovel would have ended it. We asked for an acknowledgment and a cleanup. We never received either willingly.

At 8: 00 the next morning he called.... and came later that day to give us an estimate. Of course I hired him. So many of these home repair places NEVER get back to you! The job was perfect! When he finished I wisely led him upstairs to give us an estimate on our kitchen which needed a COMPLETE update. Estimate emailed to me THE NEXT DAY!!!! Good price started right away. I am sure he has posted the pictures. Look for yourself. It is a masterpiece!!! In many ways a true work of art. Shep and his workers are the epitome of professionalism: always on time, flawless work, and the workplace was always left clean at the end of the day. I have nothing but praise for the job they did. Take it from a homeowner of 35 years. THIS is the guy you want!

There had been a leak…read morethat was slowly getting worse, a leak that was not fixed properly by the last roofing company a few years ago. Who could I trust?? Did we really need a new roof ?? Can anyone fix this leak?? I had several estimates, had 4 different companies come and tell me what would fix that leak. The range of remedies was vast and varied in costs. CHARLIE with ON THE SPOT was the first to come take a look. Right away I was impressed with his knowledge, he was very kind, respectful and professional. He came when he said he would, took pictures, & explained everything so that I could understand. He found the problem that the other guys didn't even mention & it made perfect sense. He is honest and that is a gift beyond measure in todays world. My Mother and I felt totally safe with him and he even encouraged us to follow thru with the other estimates I had scheduled. In the end, we hired ON THE SPOT and are so so so glad that we did. They were on time, worked quickly, were very clean and cleaned up any shred of debris from the job. They were mindful of our dogs, keeping the gates closed even when our dogs were inside. AND THE LEAK IS FIXED!!! We just had a massive drenching a few days ago AND IT DID NOT RAIN IN THE KITCHEN!! NO LEAKS!! THANK YOU CHARLIE WITH ON THE SPOT! We will be telling our friends and family and will definitely hire them again as they do home improvements as well. Knowing that you have someone that you can trust in all aspects is priceless...so glad we found ON THE SPOT

I would not recommend On The Spot under any circumstances. Immediately after signing the contract,…read morethe red flags started popping up and did not stop until I was abandoned in an endless field of them. It felt like my project was managed like a game of hot potato, with no one person taking responsibility from beginning to end, but instead, by lots of people who seemingly never collaborated and also managed lots of other projects as well as evolving roles within the company. The subcontractors that they used to do my project varied wildly in terms of the quality of their work and experience. Working with On the Spot is not an experience I'll ever reflect upon with any fondness. Everyone has that friend/neighbor/realtor's nephew who had an awful experience with a contractor. Well in this case, I am that friend/neighbor/realtor's nephew and On the Spot is that contractor. Look elsewhere.

His crew clearly did not know what they were doing, yet still claimed the work was complete. Now we have no working heat, and I have both a baby and an elderly mother living with me. When we turned the heat on for the first time--with both my elderly mother and our toddler in the home--the system did not work. We brought in Reiner to inspect, and they confirmed what we feared: the installation was a disaster. It was wired incorrectly, incomplete, and so sloppy that the thermostat couldn't even connect because there wasn't enough wiring run. Despite repeated calls and texts, Eric refuses to answer or take responsibility. This is not just incompetence--it is negligence. Throughout the renovation process, we experienced constant issues: lack of communication, unsafe working conditions (with a baby and a dog in the house), and complete disregard for timelines and promises. Eric does not stand by his word, does not care about the safety or comfort of his clients, and clearly does not take pride in his work. Leaving a family without heat, knowing there is a toddler and an elderly parent in the home, is beyond unprofessional--it's disgraceful. Save yourself the stress, the wasted money, and the heartache.
