Gainesville Circus Center promotes a vibrant community through the practice and performance of aerial arts. We provide training in aerial acrobatic arts from beginner through professional levels, and provide cirque entertainment services for events. GCC is a non-profit 501(c)3 performing arts school.

This business was launched with a love for performing arts and cultural exchange. Through music, dance and circus arts, Gainesville Circus Center promotes cross-cultural collaborations, and sophisticated technical training and entertainment.
Meet the Business Owner: Corey S.
Corey Cheval is the founder and director of the Gainesville Circus Center. With a background in contemporary dance and choreography, Corey began training circus arts at the Circo Picolino in Bahia, Brazil while working on a M.A. in Performance Studies at the Federal University of Bahia. She has trained, taught and performed with Intrepida Trupe of Rio de Janeiro, Aerial Revolution and Fern Street Circus in San Diego, as well as dance schools: Vila Isabel and Alegria da Zona Sul (Rio de Janeiro), A Time to Dance and Union Samba School (San Diego), among others. Corey completed a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology at the University of Florida in 2015 with a focus on performances of nationalism, race and gender found in Brazilian samba and carnival. While completing her doctoral research, Corey founded S-Connection Aerial Arts circus school and AscenDance performance ensemble based in Gainesville, FL, which later evolved into the Gainesville Circus Center in 2018.
