I got Lasik from Gailey Eye Clinic in 2020. It went well. However, now I am working on getting into the military again and need my records from them in order to get back in. It is a time sensitive matter, and they refuse to email my records to the recruiter or myself. They will only allow traditional mail or pick-up (I now live in Florida). Even though there are no laws preventing email. Gailey Eye Clinic is more than decade behind the times with this. Given that you never know when you may need to get a copy of your records, I would recommend not using Gailey since if you need them in a timely manner, you'll be screwed. Though, at this particular location, the doctors are amazing and do really well professionally speaking, my rating is completely based off their outdated policies on obtaining medical records. read more

I originally gave them 3 stars. I ordered two pairs of glasses with the prescription they gave me. The prescription was wrong. I got told they entered the axis for my astigmatism basically backwards. There's a pretty significant difference between 9 and 90. I tried to call the Peru office back to let them know the place where I ordered my glasses would not replace the lenses because it wasn't their fault. The Peru office didn't answer the phone so I called the office in Ottawa and explained the situation. She said she would let the manager in Bloomington know and they would get in touch with me. This is day two and they haven't reached out. I have over $400 out of pocket with insurance that I'm out. The eye doctor didn't even do my eye exam an optician did. I guess I'll talk to my attorney about my rights because at this point, I feel Gailey eye clinic needs to reimburse me. If I could change my review to zero stars I would. I will NEVER go to this establishment again. They've really gone down hill from what I remember years ago when I always went to Bloomington. read more

The people are lovely when you meet them in person. If they have samples, they share. The doctors are competent; so if that is all you are looking for, then go. I've had doc visits, punctal plug insertion and cataract surgery. My complaints are as follows: *can not typically reach a human being when you call. * will likely not receive a return call unless you call numerous times. *will get wrong or "make an appt.' to get a simple question answered. *The billing is different than what is verbalized by numerous people. *Not all nurses know how to administer the numbing drops causing great discomfort when reading your eye pressure and some need to complete the cycle more than once. *Your bills will not reflect correctly from verbal to statements and there are many many hidden costs. Again, lovely people in person but I need more than that when it comes to my eye care. read more

I made an appointment for an exam to get a new pair of Gas permeable contact lenses. The initial vision testing was completed quickly. I offered to show the tech what my previous prescription was as I had the parameters on my phone and because a congenital vision issue, I require a high power prescription. The tech completely dismissed my offer and rushed to finish my testing. I then saw the ophthalmologist who also rushed through my exam. I have never felt so unimportant by a healthcare group as I was at this clinic. I was not given information on when my contacts would be ready or what to expect and was rushed out of the room quickly. After waiting for 2 weeks, I finally received a phone call from the receptionist letting me know my contacts were in and the only open appointment to see the optometrist was the next day at 8:00am. When I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes awaiting my name to be called. This time the tech was a different person. When I inserted the lenses, my vision was very blurry and not even close to being correct. I was frustrated and informed the tech that I offered to give the previous tech my previous prescription and was told that it was not needed. I then waited another 15 minutes to see the optometrist that ordered the incorrect prescription based on the vision tests taken by the initial tech. The optometrist apologized several times for their error and assured me that a new pair would be ordered based on my the parameters I showed the tech as well as an exam by the optometrist. I'm so disappointed in this experience with this clinic! I truly didn't realize how incompetent this group is and certainly did not live up to its reputation. It's so apparent at this clinic that' it's profit before people. I gave one star for the receptionist that warmly greeted me but it's a stretch. read more

This was the most painful and unprofessional healthcare experience I have ever had. GAILEY Eye clinic neglected to sedate me fully during my cataract surgery. I was fully aware of everything going on, including what they were saying. I also asked, begged for sedation. This never happened. I was awake during the entire procedure. Please do not go to GAILEY eye clinic. This could happen to you. It was the worst nightmare I have ever had. read more

Gailey in Peru doesn't mind if people sit in their reception room for hours. I have no idea why they can't get their act together and figure out a method that works for them AND the patients. We don't exactly like wasting our whole afternoon sitting there; they must think we're too old to have lives! I am going to research other possible opthamologists in the area..........somewhere where we're shown some respect for our time. read more

Positive parts of this review are based on my interactions with the medical staff, doctors and nurses who have been very professional, cordial, and respectful of my time. As far as the reception staff, my interactions with them have been mostly good, too, I'm sure most of them have been well-trained, but a couple of instances leads me to believe things could be better. When I was first referred to the Gailey Eye Clinic earlier this spring/summer because of vision loss in my right eye (which I later found was glaucoma and not cataracts as I presupposed), I mentioned that I have no insurance, and the initial reaction I got was that they couldn't see me. Is this always their first reaction? That someone without insurance doesn't deserve treatment? If so, it shouldn't be. Anyway, I mentioned that I was self-pay, and the first person put me on hold to speak to someone else and I made an appointment. In the second instance, which just happened yesterday, June 10th. I came fifteen minutes early for a 12:45 appointment, only to be told that my appointment was for 8:30 and the doctor I was to see was no longer there. I had an appointment card for 12:45, so I knew the mistake was on their end. The nice lady apologized but I was still a little annoyed, Nevertheless, I made an appointment for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00. This was based on an initial referral so I didn't just cancel the appointment for tomorrow, although I considered this. I still am. Maybe in the future, I would suggest short reminder messages over the phone in the day or two prior to an appointment, which Gailey doesn't seem to be interested in doing, but it would help. What it would it take, thirty seconds of their time? Overall, a very pleasant, professional experience, but it could be better. read more

I went for a thorough eye exam and found out that I have cataracks and fuchs disease and also, I wanted to get contacts and when I called them they said that I should have asked for such an exam. I wanted the best they have and paid they 700 dollars for something that Walmart does for 60 dollars. Thanks for nothing Gailey....... read more
