I cannot recommend Denise enough if you need help adjusting to Cochlear Implants. She is patient and clearly has the experience to understand how the brain and sound work together. I am single sided deaf --and received a cochlear implant (CI) over 3.5 years ago. I struggled the first year because I didn't know how therapy with someone like Denise could help me build skills and confidence with this new tool. I actually gave up for 18 months and didn't use my cochlear implant. Upon meeting my new dr. in Texas--he told me about how effective CI patients found speech/listening therapy to be. I was very honest about my previous experience and my goals. Denise knows how to word questions to get to a common ground. She's patient and understanding of the frustrations that occur. After about 5.5 months of working with Denise, I made huge strides in my comprehension with my CI sound processor--and I'm very grateful for that. It's now adding value to my life instead of making me feel like it's a nuisance. Thank you Denise, for all the coaching and help. So grateful and thankful that we connected. read more
