Beautiful sunrise at the park
Mark M.

Great park in South Tampa within walking distance from MacDill AFB! this park has a wonderful dog park, softball fields, walking trail, fitness equipment, and fishing. I take my puppy here from time to time in the morning and we always have a great time. The parking situation is good. The park is safe and I haven't seen any unsavory crowds loitering around. I love this park! Stop by and say hi to my puppy and I!

New playground equipment for kids at Gadsen Park. The city has updated a small playground situated in between all of the softball fields.

Good park for ball for ball fields with refreshments during league games. Nice running/walking trail around lake. New toddler playground just put in by the city. Dog run area split up between small and large dogs but grass is gone and it is basically a sand pit. This park has so much room and potential for new equipment and additions (i.e. party pavilions, splash pad, swing sets and such). If you check it out and agree with me hit up the city at https://www.tampagov.net/parks-and-recreation/contact-us

Great hidden gem! Spending the past 4 years in Tallahassee, i was spoiled with beautiful trails and walking paths so I'm always on the hunt for a good spot in Tampa. This park is a nicely paved, clean and quiet trail. There are fitness stations along the way, benches and a lake in the middle. Parts of it are shaded (if you go all the way around the whole loop) but most of the trail around the lake is not. Just the lake loop is about 1 mile and the whole loop is around 2 Miles (give or take) If you enter the park on Himes (drive until it dead ends) there are a couple dirt spots. There were more spots if you enter at the main entrance. There were a couple softball fields and a dog park. Also, across from those dirt parking spots was a continuation of the trail. It goes about .3 miles out to the main road which is the entrance to the base. The park is right up against the base so there is some traffic but it's nestled in a neighborhood so it feels more secluded. Definitely will be back for a workout!

What a great dog park! I think this is my new favorite dog park. There are two enormous large dog areas, and a separate third area for small dogs. The dog park is in great shape, and even though we had tremendous amounts of rain, there's no standing water or mud puddles. There's plenty of grass for the dogs to run, play, and chase toys. This park has a lot of seating, and plenty of shade for those blazing hot summer days in the Sunshine State. Also, there's a pretty good water/rinsing station. Other than having a great dog park, this park also has giant wide-open grassy areas for activities or a picnic, several ball fields, centrally located restrooms, a nice kids playground, a couple of pavilions with grills and plenty of seating for a big party, and a decent walking trail (just from what I noticed during my short visit). Even after the copious amount of rain we've had, there wasn't any evidence of flooding or standing/stagnant water.

One of the signs on the park walking trail.

A great little walking trail with restrooms and water fountains. There are about 3 softball fields here as well. People come and walk their dogs or bring them to the dog park there. The park has a fence to the one side due to being beside Macdill Air Force Base. During certain times of the day you can see the big military planes fly overhead coming in for a landing. Did I mention there is also a lake that you can go fishing? This park has it all.

The drinking area in the smaller section.

This was a great dog park! There's three sections of the dog park so small breeds can play together if they're not fans of the larger dogs. There are also water bowls for the pups and a drinking fountain for the owners. It could use some restrooms and better lighting for the evening but it's got plenty of room and shad for all of the dogs.

An absolute South Tampa Hidden Gem! This park has a dog park, a baseball field, a Fitness trail. You can even take your kids fishing!

This park is not too far from my house and is a nice spot to take your pup for a little time off…read moreleash! We took my pup Elphaba (Elphie) to the dog park side for her 3rd Birthday (adoption day since we don't know the exact date). She came to live with us 2 years ago when she found us on our visit to the Tampa Bay Humane Society! We didn't go to the human side of the park but we saw a decent crowd there and a lot of families. All of the park is quite shady which is nice in Florida. COVID: It was outdoors but if you are worried, there wasn't a mask in sight. There were large groups of people under the pavilion sitting together with no masks. We just stayed away from there. Everyone in the dog park side was completely socially distanced from each other, so no worries on that side. The park could use a little refresh and the biggest problem I found is there is no separation for small dogs. My dog is 9 lbs and she was in the park with dogs who weighed up to 100 lbs and were much larger. At one point I had to rescue her since she was the only small dog and the other dogs began to chase her, flipping her over, and stepping on her. They didn't mean to hurt her but they did by playing too rough for her size. They also need to add more grass if it's possible. Your dog is going to be pretty dirty after a visit since there's a lot of dirt area and very little grass. Otherwise, it's still a great place and it's nice to have a spot to take your dog where he or she can run around and have fun. There are plastic bags at the front gate for you to clean up after your dog. Everyone we saw did so and I never saw any doggy poop in the park area. They have a little, plastic pool you can fill up with water and a couple of dog bowls out for water as well. We spent about an hour to hour and a half there celebrating Elphie's Bday! We shared some peanut butter doggy cheesecake and birthday dog treats with the other visitors and had fun meeting people and their dogs from afar! I'm very grateful to have a dog park close by!

Most streets in the area only allow for parking on one side so be sure to be mindful of this and check the posted signs. It seems that most people who make use of the park live on the neighborhood and everyone I have encountered is very nice. Although I have not actually gone into the other part of the park beyond the dog play area, there is a fenced in area which is good for small gatherings. There are picnic tables under a shelter and a public restroom. There is also a grassy, fenced in area which is suitable to play catch, soccer, or tag or whatever your heart desires. There is also a basketball court and children's' playground play set in addition to a (basic) charcoal grill. The dog park area is fenced and has somewhat sandy ground. There are trees and areas of shade and picnic benches. In the center there is a water station with hoses and water bowls for your four-legged loves. Doggie waste bags are well stocked whenever I've been there. The area can be a bit bug ridden in the evening so it may be smart to cover your skin or wear bug repellent if you have sweet blood. Whenever I bring my dog Sophia she has a marvelous time interacting with other dogs and people. There is plenty of space for her to get her insane amount of energy out. This is one of my favorite dog parks.

A perfect place to work-out & get in those 10,000 steps…read more Imagine a beautiful view of the water on one side of the street & a beautiful view of architecture on the other side, all while exercising. That's basically what you experience here! "Bayshore Boulevard is a waterfront road on Hillsborough Bay in South Tampa, Florida. Located south of downtown Tampa, its sidewalk, at 4.5 miles long, is 10 feet wide and is the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States." The sidewalk is amazing for working out because it seems like it never stops. I love exercising here. This place can get pretty crowded if you go later in the afternoon, the earlier the better. You can also find bikes & scooters along the trail to rent. The bike cost $1+.49 /minute. They pre authorize your card for $17 but only charge you for the time you use. Parking is $1.50 an hour and can be paid at the kiosk or on the app, park mobile.

When living in Tampa, I was able to visit the Bayshore Trail so much more and it truly is one thing…read morethat I do miss since moving over to Pinellas. I am pretty sure my girls do as well. I always made sure that I would get there early as it can get very crowded with other patrons with their pups and the fitness lovers. The trail is a good width but adding runners, walkers, bikers, roller-bladders and those with dogs and some fisherman... you do often have to adjust to try to make everyone comfortable. My little Bears are classic small dogs that suddenly think they are Dobermans while on a leash when another dog is close so I try to be as respectful of others as much as possible, going early helps and you can beat the heat. PLUS.... the views. Oh my goodness, the views are just so beautiful and a wonderful way to welcome to day over Tampa Bay. On a good day, it is not crazy to see dolphins and I have often had them swim along the trail with you while you walk. Can't hate that. The trail does have areas where people can stop and work out, sit and there are areas that have doggie water fountains.
