I recently moved to the area and chose to go to Gaddie for my annual exam. They got my prescription wrong, so my new glasses gave me bad double vision. When trying to set up an appointment to get a re-exam to get a correct prescription, they said I would have to see the same doctor I initially saw and couldn't get me scheduled for at least 8+ days to see him. I thought the long wait times on my initial visit would be the worst of my experience, but it turns out it wasn't. I'd recommend finding somewhere else to go. read more

I have had a terrible time with Gaddie, especially in La Grange, KY. I went there to get new glasses, didn't go well. it took months for them to get the lenses right, apparently my eye exam a few months earlier was incorrect, so I was essentially blind during that time I didn't have any recent glasses that I could see out of. This is their business, eye exams, if they're made wrong what does that say about them? This morning I ran in to get my frames adjusted and Courtney (maybe Optician) took them to adjust, when she came back, I put them on and I couldn't see out of the right lens, it was really blurry, so I told her and she said no, she didn't do anything and then turned and blamed me...to my face, said I must have done something to them. I was shocked. Is that the way a business treats their customers? Not this customer. I went to BBB and they are NOT accredited and their scores in LG and Springhurst are dismal. I just left there the exam was great the ladies at the front was great it was the exit trying to get a pair of glasses the lady that was doing that was absolutely the rudest ever. So I ask her what I owed and left without my glasses. I will go somewhere else never again in LaGrange. This was the worst eye exam I've had in over 24 years. They forgot that my eyes were dilated for over 30 minutes and didn't check me. I had to remind them that I've always had a prescription for distant eyesight, but the doctor miraculously claimed my eyes no longer needed it. When I questioned him, he refused to retest and insisted I didn't need it, showing a lack of concern for accuracy. The exam was rushed and felt very careless. I wasted my time and benefits for nothing. If I ever go back, it will never be with him. I don't recommend this place to anyone; stay away unless you absolutely have to go. read more

The doctor is great- very attentive and thorough. The front office staff are not friendly or welcoming. While trying on frames, I took my time to ensure that I selected something that I would be happy with for a long time. The employee that was waiting to fit me for the new glasses was pacing around and sighing loudly, which made me feel like I needed to rush the process. Once finished, she told me my glasses would be ready in "about two weeks", it's been 3.5 weeks and still no glasses. I won't be returning to this location in the future. read more

Under my insurance - vision checks annually are covered. They diagnosed my daughter with 20/20 vision and said she needed bifocals. I said NO. I wanted a second opinion - second opinion very clearly said my daughter does not need bifocals, rather, bifocals would ruin her eyesight for life. They've billed my insurance for these non-existent bifocals and continue to bill me for glasses that don't exist. They never did...I said no. Obviously this organization values money over health as they've falsely billed myself and my insurance. Did a Doctor actually try to ruin my daughters eyesight? Yes, yes they did. Don't go here unless you want your vision ruined and to pay for things that don't exist. Still waiting for that call back - but apparently admitting to errors and mistakes is beneath this organization. They simply want money - they've falsely billed my insurance who is now handling this - because that's a crime. Worst ever. This is the one by World of Beer. My husband, daughter and I use the LaGrange, KY location and are very happy with them. They are professional, personable (that can be a tough balancing act) and don't push any unnecessary services. The doctor I had been seeing for years left and I wasn't notified. I found out when I called to make an appointment. Then I began seeing another one of their doctors AND I called with an issue and was told she has now left too! AND once again no one at the practice cared enough about me or the patients to notify them of a providers departure. I decided after this happened twice that I am now going to another facility for my eye care. It is obvious Gaddie does not value communication or their patients. Very disappointing. read more

The two reps at Keplr Vision in Bloomington, IL were exceedingly nice and professional. Within an hour I had a call back from the manager (Priscilla) at Gaddie promising speedier processing, but also a second, FREE pair of glasses for my inconvenience. My appt was in La Grange. Having transportation issues, I called to needing 2 pair of glasses, a late appointment that allowed me an eye exam and to purchase & gave my Humana number then. Staff giving the exam were very nice, but others weren't. I didn't get much help purchasing & no help in figuring out glasses that would work best for me. The woman giving pricing told me I couldn't comprehend pricing & she gave me the prescription, which was missing one..I asked for 2, & told me to purchase elsewhere. I am a SENIOR, DISABLED with a LIMITED income, & without transportation. I was ONLY wanting prices. She didn't bother printing them out to show me & she had an INCORRECT total!!! I was FURIOUS, but held my tongue. I took the prescription and left. I decided to get the glasses since I could not get a refund. They failed to give me the FULL price from beginning & charged me more on 2nd trip. I would have REFUSED BEFORE starting if I had know the cost. I do not have that kind of money!!! Also store tried to double charge on what I paid for LAST visit. HOLD YOUR RECEIPTS close. Had to email receipt as noone posted it to my account. While purchasing, the same woman AGAIN told me I was too dense to comprehend her words. She did not have expertise to assist me and even her figures were incorrect in pricing, but she became a DRAMA QUEEN saying I WAS FRUSTRATING HER!!! I was just TRYING TO GET GLASSES!!! Due to rides, I took the glasses, one pair, and left composed but MAD!!! My daughter called to CANCEL the order as I was SO MAD. She took me to Walmart. Within approximately 30 minutes, the representative had contacted my insurance, got the information she needed, had the glasses I wanted (and I was able to get 2 pair! and way better designs!), informed me of ALL charges, wrote them down where I could see and KNOW what I was getting WITHOUT being a drama queen!!!, educated me on getting something to block light rays and spoke to me regarding the type of lenses that would be comfortable, not too heavy and even advised me on how to choose a frame to fit as I needed a larger lense and she wanted me to know some would fall down on my face and shared which ones would not. Talk about getting it right!!! She was customer service oriented ......she CARED about the sale AND the customer!!! I did not frustrate her nor did she care if I looked at one or 20 glasses to make sure I got the right one. With her EXPERTISE which was SORELY missing from Gaddies, I was able to find 2 pair of glasses, get the ones that would work well for me, look good and be a wonderful fit for my LIMITED income!!! Both pair are about $400 and the insurance will pay for $200!!! That SAVES me about $245, plus a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I have heart trouble and after the experience today I have had chest pains. I am appalled that someone working retail would treat a customer in such a fashion. I have been in retail and customer service a lot over my lifetime. NO customer should have to ENDURE that!!! I am SORRY I ever heard of Gaddies Eye Center and even more sorry that I ever darted its doors!!! read more

The only reason that the Gaddie Eye Center in La Grange, KY was given one star is because zero stars was not available. On July 11, 2022 I went to the Gaddie Eye Center with my eyeglass prescription in hand to order a pair of glasses. I selected a frame and the order was placed and I paid $652 up front and was told that due to my unique prescription it would take two weeks to get the eyeglass order back. I was helped by two opticians, and was told by the taller one that the lab that they used was not very good so it would take longer. I went on my way, and waited, and waited, and waited.......... After 2 weeks I called and they had not arrived yet. I mentioned to them that I was leaving on a long cross-country trip soon and needed them so my old pair could be used as a backup if needed. I asked if they could check on it. I heard nothing. At the end of the 5th FULL week (August 12, 2022), I was in the area so I stopped in to see if they had arrived from the lab. I gave them my information, and they looked me up, having no clue who I was. They checked in the back and came out with a glass case and said "they just came in; we were just going to call you." Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, yeah right, just moments before they had no clue who I was. She handed me the glasses and I noticed something didn't seem the same as I remembered (it had been 5 weeks, I had the frames I chose for 5-10 minutes), but put them on and the prescription was correct and they fit fine. The shorter of the two opticians helped me this time, she didn't check the earpiece to see if they were long enough, she just handed me the glasses, gave me something to read and said how are those? All was fine I told her, she then told me that she was going back to work on something she was doing if I had nothing else and she went into the backroom, I was left to see my way out. Sometime during the week of August 22, 2022, I stopped in again because a screw was a little loose and asked if they could tighten it. They were very nice, a lady with a name tag that said "manager" on it took my glasses to tighten the screw, she then confirmed that it was loose and I was on my way. (NO CONCERN ABOUT THE FRAME....discussed below) On Thursday October 6, 2022 I stopped in again because the same screw was loose again and asked to get it tightened. The younger of the two opticians took them and said "YOU did not get them here! We don't sell this frame." I pointed out when I was in, showed them the rack I got the frames from. Again, she (taller optician) said "YOU didn't get them here, we don't carry Columbia frames." (The Columbia Frames were delivered in a Chesterfield case) Again, I explained that I got them there, and a discussion ensued. The shorter optician asked again for my name, date of birth, and she confirmed that I ordered different frames, The taller optician then stalked off and said "this is above my pay grade." They then called the manager, Priscilla over and she confirmed they do not carry the frame that I have and that I must have bought them somewhere else. My response was "I bought them here, and besides I just came in to get a screw tightened, what is the big fuss?" The younger optician came back to tell me that since they do not carry the frame (THAT THEY DELIVERED MY PRESCRIPTION IN) they are not under warranty. Control Issues??????? I then told Pricilla that they need to contact the lab since they made the error and they need to make it right. She said she had to talk to the regional manager. I waited and Priscilla returned to tell me that the regional manager wasn't available yet, and asked if I could get a call back and I said sure, I went home. Prior to leaving the shorter optician returned my glasses after tightening the screw, was very professional and said it was out of her hands now. Although the glasses are the right prescription, and fit fine, problem now is that I have a new pair of glasses that cost $652, with NO WARRANTY and a hassle if I went to Gaddie for adjustments. So as I feared, the frame they can they do not sell that they sold me separated at a solder point. they refused to recognize me as one that purchased THOSE glasses from them. I had to order a frame online because they tersely told me they won't cover the glasses they sold me. so now I am $832 into this and have to find someone wiling to put the lenses in for me. Gaddie is unprofessional, and not worthy of anyone's business. The store in La Grange REFUSED to let me speak to "higher ups", and no one had the courage to respond to the Yelp review, but they demanded payment in advance to order the glasses. It was my son's first time receiving a consultation for contacts. He is just 11 years of age and was nervous about getting contacts. After my sons eye exam, he then had to meet with Parcilla to help with the process of putting the contact in and taking them out. She initially explained how to take the contacts out, but once he was tasked with actually taking them out, she sat back in her chair with her arms crossed and didn't offer any coaching. That said, in an effort to help him from getting discouraged, I offered him some support and guidance from a side angel where I could see what he was doing. After he was able to take out both contacts, he was then tasked with putting them in. Again, Parcilla sat back in her chair and had a snarl on her face, so again, I stepped up and tried helping him get the contact placed on his finger correctly. Eventually, I said something to her and she said in a very abrupt manner, I was going to help, but I didn't want to over-talk you. I then said, I'm sorry, I was only trying to help, but if you would rather me shut up and sit down, I can do that. She said nothing to this comment. Parcilla is extremely prideful and isn't at all a team player. She was only concerned about her ego and not what was in the best interest of my son. I'm sure he would have appreciated having me next to him, but she robbed both me and him of this first experience. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with my experience, gotta be honest. Was my first time there, trying a different optometrist, and probably the last. The optometrist was great and super personable and the eye exam was fine. The downhill portion started with picking out eyewear. I primarily use contacts, so I didn't want to spend a ton on glasses. So, I found a pair the assistant helping me was like, we will just do basic lenses. OK, fine, I assumed it would have anti-reflective lenses, you'd be wrong. The assistant didn't even go over different lenses, and I didn't ask, so I guess I am to blame for not asking. She also didn't measure my PD, I had to say "hey don't you need that?? She was like, Oh yeah. I picked them up today, 1/25/2023, and put them on, and holy moly. The reflections were terrible. She said, "you didn't get anti-reflective lenses." I didn't know it wasn't offered on even basic lenses, Hell I can go online to eyeglass sellers and get them automatically from them and not be charged extra. They said to fix them would be $90. Thats the base price. I said no bc that's insane, and I was frustrated at the initial visit that lens options weren't even talked about. I asked about a refund and she said, "unless it's something we can't fix, we don't do refunds." Plus she adjusted the glass horribly they poked the back of my ears, and she went to fix it, but it still wasn't great. So, now I have a pair of glasses that suck that wasn't cheap. We have gone here for 5 years. I had an appt for my daughter today that has been set for weeks. WE went in a little early and were told they would not honor our appointment until we paid an outstanding bill from over a year ago. She said it was from July. I remember the July event because my daughter chose to pay for upgrades herself in addition to the insurance and me paying for non-glare. I remember how proud I was of her as she opened her wallet and paid for what she wanted. I explained it to the owner when she repeated that we need to pay the bill in order to be seen today. I said not only would your employees never have allowed us to leave with the glasses unless we were paid in full, but I specifically remember paying- your accounting system is faulty, and I am not going to pay twice for the same goods or services. The myopic owner then invited me to leave, and I said I certainly am going to leave but first I will cancel the appointments I have set for the next few weeks for my 6 kids and myself. I proceeded to cancel the appts with the receptionist while my daughter said she could get proof from her bank to the owner. I told my daughter that proof does not matter because there was some paid in cash and some paid with 2 cards yours and mine and I'm never coming here again because it is deceitful to wait until a person comes in expecting an appointment and lambasting them with a supposed past due charge which is actually double dipping and can be viewed as a tactic to get people to pay again to avoid public embarrassment or delayed scheduling. I told my daughter that an honest business owner would call you if there was a problem with your account that is how decent people do business with each other. While typing this she called to reschedule my cancelled appointments. Amazing. Make sure you act with caution at Gaddie's in LaGrange they cannot keep track of payments and they will demand you pay again. it's their myopic business plan. Incidentally I ran in to this with them another time and when I talked to the insurance company the amount had indeed been paid and they provided proof. I would not yelp for one unprofessional possibly fraudulent transaction. 2x in a year is a trend. read more

My family and my have gone to Gaddie for about 2 years now. All in all we're happy with the place. Nice, open opticians and a decent selection of glasses. Our glasses came with a one year warranty that covers any and everything. I did recently have an issue with the place however. I went in to get my frames tightened up and walked out with a damaged lens (I didn't immediately realize it though...). When I called back a short time later they asked that I return so they could check it out. Basically they didn't believe they caused the issue and needed to have their supplier review the damage to help determine cause. Once they realized glasses were less than a year old they immediately ordered new lenses and remedied the issue. I was a little frustrated at their initial response however the situation worked out as needed. Give them a shot. Definitely better than the big box s read more

I have been a customer of the Gaddie Eye Center since several years and I always received good services from all the staff present at the Eye Center and especially the great attention of the doctors and other specialists/assistants that are demonstrating a high level of competences during each of the medical issue that I have been cured for and also the good support getting the right lenses and glasses I needed for my specific corrections. I agree Janell Engle has an extremely poor attitude. I asked her about macular degeneration and what I could do to help prevent it. I mentioned that I don't smoke, I take eye vitamins. Her response was "that doesn't matter, you probably get it since your dad had it." She's beyond rude. I had the worse eye exam ever, and ended up with contacts that I couldn't see out of. Maybe if she would have taken the time to care for my eyes, instead of rushing me out, could have seen correctly the last year. . I will NEVER go back to see Dr. Ian Benjam Gaddie if my life depended on it! I have never been talked to you by such a person! He was extremely rude, egotistical it's unreal! His own manager agreed with me! Told me his ("student drs") are always wrong, it's always the patients contacts! Well Sir, you were WRONG! You student doctor was extremely thorough, kind, nice, incredible bedside manner & WE WERE right, she did remove a hair from my eye! She saw something, I felt something & low & behold within 10 minutes of leaving your office my eye stopped hurting! This morning, put my monthly contacts in & bam no pain!! What do you have to say now? Condescending, pretty much demanding that I come back in 2 days because of the eye drops he prescribed me & flippantly said, "or don't get the script and go about your life!" I needed to put my contact back in order to drive to another appointment & he literally threw a tantrum!! He said, do whatever it is you need to do all the while smiling sarcastically and speaking in the same tone! I've been in the medical field for 31 years, worked with many doctors & I have never been talked down to as if I was a child! I'll be 50 in January. So, MR.Gaddie, just because you have MD as your credentials & make a lot of money, doesn't give you the right to treat anyone in that manner! I'll let all my friends & family know exactly how well I was NOT treated! Tell Jackie, I think that's her name, your student doctor that she will be an EXCELLENT DOCTOR when she graduates & keep treating patients the way she treated me & her business will be 3 times the size of yours! Clean and polite, but kept getting script wrong. Took weeks for corrections and turn arounds. No time for that for a student during testing week. I want to like them more. They have some nice high end frames, but the hassle of getting a good script and fit just isn't worth it. read more

Been going to Gaddie for a few years now. Stopped by today to get my glasses straightened out that I sat on. Very helpful and they made my glasses fit like new. Also found a scratch on my lens. They checked my warranty and determined I could get replacements under warranty. Other eye centers just don't provide this level of service to their customers from my experience. Thanks!! read more
