I have yet to see a real doctor, there are teenagers all over the hallways and the worst of it is it has taken at least one hour at each of our visits just to be seen whether it was an annual physical or a strep test. I checked out two different pediatricians while pregnant and ended up choosing Gables Pediatrics for my baby's care. I was referred to Dr. Erdmann but a couple of people and thankfully he was accepting new patients. I really liked him from the start and have had good experiences so far. Gables Pediatrics is a large practice and while you have your own doctor, there's a chance you could get seen by another if you book last minute appointments. In fact, we had two doctors visit us while in the hospital after the birth of my daughter and neither was Dr. Erdmann. That being said, we've had good experiences with all the doctors we've encountered but do like his nurse the best, as she's a ninja at giving shots! Our baby barely flinched. They have two waiting areas for sick and not sick patients. Sometimes it's so crowded that sick kids make their way over to the "healthy" side which isn't ideal. Speaking of wait times, sometimes they can be rough but it really depends on the day. For better or worse, it's something I've come to expect at any doctor's office in Miami. It's located on the third floor of Merrick Park so parking is relatively easy because they have the large garage. Selfishly, I like the location so I can go shopping while I'm there! I've been coming here for about 5 years now and I've had for the majority only positive experiences. I started coming here because a friend recommended me and the rest is history. I have my second son coming here now and it's wonderful. The office is located inside Merrick park which is good because you can always go shopping afterwards but is bad because you have to pay for parking and they do not validate your ticket. The office is always busy so I always prepare myself to wait. Sometimes it's quick and sometimes the wait is long. Really depends on the day. I love my doctor Dr Toledo. She is amazing. The other doctors in the office are good as well. When I have had to come for an emergency visit I've never had a problem with any of them. The only thing I don't like about the office is that they don't have after hours. I wish they did. But they do open saturdays for 4 hours. I recommend this office because I love them and I've had good experiences. I've read other reviews that unfortunately were not the same as mine. In the overall picture it's been great. read more

They don't take walk-ins. My baby is SICK SICK SICK and couldn't be seen for 2 days. They don't even do video appts. You have to come in person everytime. Very antiquated system. I booked the appt in 2 days for my baby, show up, and then was informed the appt was at a different location. You'd think they'd mention that the appt was somewhere other than my regular office - the only office I've ever been to and the only one I thought existed - in coral gables. It is called GABLES pediatrics after all. Who would have known they have locations other than the gables. They make you wait at least an hour. If you weren't sick before, your kid will certainly be sick by the time you leave. The icing on the cake is there is NO WIFI. So you're sitting waiting with a sick, fussy kid for an hour or more with no ability to play a video to distract them. Fun! Way to take some of the stress out of having a sick kid! I will say, the doctors and nurses are nice so I deal with it. But they need to get with the program and get virtual appts & wifi. read more

Located in Merrick Park, perfect location to enjoy a day out before or after a check up at Gables Pediatrics. Both my boys come here and are seen by Dr. Toledo-Valido whom were are very happy with. She is a wonderful pediatrician who takes her time with Children and parents. She is very realistic and explains anything you may have a question about. What we like is that she'll give you the text book answer but also provides her professional opinion. She is an easily approachable physician that seems to genuinely love what she does. This makes all the difference in the type of care you and your child receive. We have also had the pleasure of being cared for by Dr. Saca which is another great physician. She came to the hospital and checked up on our second child when he was born. She spent time with him and us caring for our child as well as some small talk. This type of patient to physician relationship isn't easy to find. We want to thank both these awesome individuals for the continued care for both our sons. The only complaint that I have about this practice is that since they provide excellent care, this makes them very popular. HORRENDOUS PRACTICE! I had to wait for 1.5 hours for my sons 3 day old check up and they lost both his 1 month old & 2 month old appointments. It is impossible to reach a human on the phone, and if you do, expect to wait at least 27 minutes beforehand. I have never received any response to any email. I called this morning concerned about the sound of my son's breaths. I scheduled a same day appointment with the receptionist. Drive 30 min in traffic to get there and they say they don't have my son in the system. They keep asking me if I know whom I scheduled with, no I don't take every receptionists info. I ask if they can squeeze him in to just listen to his breath. They say no & suggest I take him to urgent care. Never been to a pediatric facility that denies a child care when they are sitting in front of them! Wow, heartless if you ask me. The 5 stars obviously hint that I'm happy with the care my kids receive here but I want to go into detail because I feel like a lot of the reviews here are either outdated and the office has improved a lot in the last 2-3 years or the reviews may be based on experiences that are exceptions not the norm. I would highly recommend this office - just make sure its what you're looking for. There are different types of offices all with pros and cons. Smaller practices offer the same doctor and staff every time who might eventually know you by name and might offer more personal care- usually with longer wait times and shorter hours of operation. A network of offices might have more flexible hours but you'll be seeing a different person every time and maybe even different locations. Gables pediatrics I see as a happy medium. Our 2.5 year old and now newborn regularly see Dr. Stoudt or Dr. Saca, although we have seen most of the doctors in the practice by now when the kids have been sick and they are all friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and experienced. Here are the PROS of gables pediatrics as I see it: ALWAYS SEE A GOOD DOCTOR: each doc is great and they all cover for each other so one of them is always available and on call. You get to know them all eventually. OPEN SATURDAYS: which is rare HEALTHY & SICK PATIENTS SEPARATE: they have separate waiting areas for sick and healthy patients and a 3rd far away section for newborns only. Love this. SAME DAY APPTS: they have always squeezed us in same-day when we have had a sick child, even when I got there a few mins before closing - just call ahead before coming. AFTER HOURS: when you have a sick baby but not sure what to do or whether to go to the ER you can call the office number and speak to a remote nurse immediately. We've used this at least 5 times - excellent resource for peace of mind. HOSPITAL PRIVILEGES: the doctors have great relationships at all the local hospitals so they saw my children at south miami hospital the day they were born and also visited in person daily when my daughter was admitted to miami children's for a week. NOT YOUR GRANDMOTHERS PEDS: the doctors are up to date on the latest practices and give great advice on all the major doubts new parents have: sleep, breast feeding, cereal or no cereal, transitioning to food, milestones, tantrums, car seats... I've asked it all and they are always patient and talk me through everything. BONUS: the fact that it's in Merrick Park is nice because you can have lunch before or after, visit the awesome mothers room right next door in Nordstrom, grab a coffee before early appointments, or take the kids for ice cream after getting shots. As for the CONS other reviews have mentioned - again you need to know what to expect: LONG WAIT TIMES - It is a busy office so the wait is often long because for same day appointments because they are trying to squeeze you in. If you'd rather be seen sooner they have a nurse practitioner who consults with one of the doctors after evaluating your child. But this applies to same day appointments which I think is to be expected - I'm actually more impressed they always manage to fit us in. For routine milestone appointments we have not waited more than 15 minutes except for one time for which the doctor apologized several times and explained they had an emergency situation with another child. PHONE NOT ANSWERED: When I call with a medical question Carmen always answers right away and if she doesn't know something she asks a doctor and calls back promptly. For appointments and forms I have left messages and usually get a call back same day, the forms do take a few days to process you just have to request them a week or two ahead of time. I've done this and scheduled appts by email as well and it was fine. RUDE STAFF: This office is busy and they work hard, so they do their best to get to everyone and it may come off as rude or slow but I see them just multitasking. they have always been professional and courteous with me and we get what we need in a realistic time frame. These are the best pediatricians in Miami. We have been going here since our son was born. Our pediatrician at Gables Pediatrics is Dr. Jimenez; I couldn't ask for a better doctor for my baby. He always spends as much time as possible with us, answers our questions and has a wonderful rapport with kids! He even makes my 4 year old laugh after a shot. I've seen all the other doctors here too, when my son was sick and the first available doctor was not always doctor Jimenez. The other doctors are nice and I like them a lot, but Dr. Jimenez is by far the best. Don't get me wrong: all the doctors here are great. The staff is really nice, and whenever I have a late night worry, I call them and within 10 or 15 minutes one of the doctors or nurses call me back. Another really great thing here is the artwork on the walls (see the Yelp photo). Amazing, trippy kids designs. I love looking at them when I go in. I tried to find the artist who does the designs so I could mention his/her name but I couldn't find it. However, there are several bad seeds in the clerical side. Particularly, Roxana the person in charge of handling the school forms. She is incredibly unprofessional as well as unreliable. She answers the phone without introducing herself (if you're lucky enough for her to actually answer your call) and when I asked if it was the forms department, she replied with a rude blunt answer "yeah. What do you need?" "Hi, is this Roxana?" "Yeah. What do you want?" This has happened several times. So I can't just toss it as a bad day. More like she needs some serious coaching in customer service. She does not reply to emails. So don't try that route. On a side note, I waited for 1.5 hours for a scheduled flu shot. I am very happy with my pediatrician and this clinic. They are all very attentive and genuine. I love the convenience of the location, in Merrick Park mall; there is a lot of covered parking and the mall is very kid friendly. They also carry a great selection of items such as tylenol, nosefrida, humidifiers, books, among other stuff that can save you a trip to the pharmacy. Our primary pediatrician for both of our children is Dr. Toledo. She is great balance of a strong academic physician and a compassionate person and professional. She values parent input but also provides up to date medically relevant information to explain why she has a recommendation for treatment. Dr. Toledo is very busy as she is very in demand, but you never feel rushed with her. I trust her and know my children are getting the best care possible. During sick visits, it is often the case that we see other doctors. We ahve been extremely impressed and have some other favorites at the practice. We even had one of the doctors on a sick visit have an assistant to call us at home to see how our child was doing. A lot of above and beyond care her. read more

The gables office is a zoo. It's a very impersonal place. Never can see your pediatrician. No on call service where you can speak to a physician from the 20 doctors they have working there. You have to speak to a random nurse in the country and after answering 50 questions makes u just want to hang up. When u call to make an appt with a specific doctor u have to leave a voicemail and wait hours for a call back. They answer all of your questions and really take their time with each patient. They have two waiting areas in the lobby- one for healthy kids, another for sick. There is a lab on site. Super convenient! They are not antibiotic happy like other doctors seem to be. They are located on the 3rd floor of Merrick Park. Covered, secure and easy parking. I've been coming to this practice for five months and I'm very impressed. It's inside a great mall which makes it convenient to shop or grab some lunch after the appointment. Bravo to this practice for being insistent about vaccination. For the people complaining about docs reacting poorly to their desire not to vaccinate, please get informed by actual science. Their knowledge is informed by evidence so, no, your opinion is not as valuable as their knowledge. Dr Stoudt has proven time and again to our family he is a doctor that truly cares for his patients, more than the financial bottom line. He spends as much time as we need to answer all questions, even giving us a second look like "you sure we covered everything?" before he leaves the room. He has also helped us during a scary situation more than was necessary or expected, including catching a fracture a local children's hospital had missed! I am so grateful to have found this doctor. This place is a complete joke. A week before delivering my wife came into their office to fill out paperwork and make sure that accept our insurance. The girl at the front desk confirmed that they do and we scheduled an appointment. Today we show up for our appointment and they proceed to tell us that she "must of made a mistake". So we to then come out of pocket $175. Totally unacceptable.. This was a classic bait and switch. However, the reason for only 3 stars is based on other factors, which many other reviewers have indicated. Forget about ever trying to call the office for any reason. Also, prepare to be seen at least a half hour, or much longer, to see your doctor. This office overbooks more often than United Airlines. But today my wife had an appointment and was there 20 minutes early. She checked in and said she was there to see Dr. Jimenez. Half an hour later, she went back & said the same thing to the same front desk woman. An hour after that, when she went back for the 3rd time, she was told that Dr. Jimenez was not in that day, even though he had appointments. My kids were new patients at this office. I have completed all the paperwork and insurance before making any appointments, just to make sure all is super ready. This morning I called right at 8:30am to make an appointment for 2 super sick kids. The receptionist picked up and transferred me to Ms. Lucy's voicemail. I called again, I was told he is not in [that's at around 8:45 - 9am] and she will call me back asap. I received a call back at 9:45am. I explained we have a very sudden and very painful ear infection and a baby with a prolonged cold and I would like an apt asap. She said either now or in the afternoon. I picked 'now' - 10:15am and double made sure we will be seen within 15 min. When we got to the office everyone was nice. We waited over an hour in the waiting room (I was then told it's normal to wait AT LEAST an hour} and another 20 minutes in the exam room for the doctor. When I was complaining about the wait pointing to my constantly crying toddler, who was visibly in major pain, I was told they have walk-ins they need to accommodate too.. Dr Stoudt was nice and fairly attentive. Has a good way with kids, but the wait time, and especially the fact that it seems to be the norm, is absolutely unacceptable! read more
