This is a room on the main floor. Each morning we woke at 6:30, but I wasn't able to hear any noise other than a toilet flush here and there from other rooms. This was a huge win!! I feel as though all of us guests were a big family being respectful of each other's time, noise and peace level. The views are AMAZING. This place is nestled right in front of some beautiful Mountain Views. You get breakfast every morning including some yummy goodies, water is always available (big plus, we didn't have to buy water over and over!), and fresh cookies are always on the table! Downstairs is an area to watch TV with couches, table to relax or play games (provided). My husband and I truly felt like we were at home. This place was truly my favorite part of our entire trip. It was so great to have no stress where we laid our heads to sleep. Walter and Jodi are the best!! If you're on the fence about booking, this is your sign!! It's worth it.

They made you feel super comfortable and the B&B was more than what I was expecting. The grounds were gorgeous with a huge yard. We were fortunate to land the Golden Oak room which was quiet and away from all the other rooms. Additionally this room had views of gorgeous backyard with deer and turkeys in the early morning. Everything was clean and cozy. Breakfast was plenty. Thank you J&W! I will be returning!!

Apple Orchard Inn - They have countless different flowers and plants- I think just on a brief stroll I counted 2 doz different blooming flowers.

The owner were great and place had so much character. Would definitely stay again & would highly recommend to any friends or family. I even accidentally left my shoes in the room & they made sure to mail them back to me. Thanks for the memories & experience...hopefully it won't be our last

Loved our super comfortable bed, and the shower was hot with great pressure. There is a small fridge/freezer in your room, access to a grill close to the main house. No stove/oven as it's not that type of property. Any meals outside of breakfast are encouraged al fresco on your private back porch, other numerous outdoor areas, or inside their spacious main house which is open to guests at all hours for lounging, eating. They serve a wonderful short-order breakfast each morning (we had breakfast burritos, omelettes) and have coffee/cookies the rest of the day. The owners, Jim and Lesley, are so very welcoming and make you feel right at home. A fun bonus is they actually have about 90 fruit trees on the property, most of them apple, which they use to make pies, jams, and sauces there. The property is beautifully maintained and brings peace. We would definitely return next time we're in Durango!

We stayed at the Strater Hotel for four nights and truly enjoyed the experience…read more This is a historic hotel, and it fully embraces that identity. The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping back in time, vintage décor, rich character, and a charm you just don't find in modern hotels. One of the highlights was the saloon. It's absolutely amazing, with waitresses dressed in period clothing, which really adds to the authenticity and atmosphere. It's not just a place to grab a drink, it's part of the experience. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the area, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Location is another huge plus. You're within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the train station, including the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Tip: Embrace the historic charm, this isn't a modern luxury hotel, it's an experience. Spend some time in the saloon and explore the building; that's where the magic is. We would definitely stay here again.

From the moment you walk through the doors, you feel like you've stepped into another era--in the best way possible. The Victorian charm, the historic details, the creaky wood floors, the antique furnishings... it all creates this warm, intimate atmosphere that you simply don't get at modern chain hotels. It feels authentic, not staged. Our room was cozy and beautifully appointed, with thoughtful touches that made it feel special rather than standard. The entire property is impeccably maintained, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and clearly proud of the hotel's history. The location is perfect--right in the heart of downtown Durango--so you can stroll to shops, restaurants, and along Main Avenue without ever moving your car. That made the whole weekend feel relaxed and easy. If you're looking for a place with personality, history, and romance, the Strater delivers. It was the perfect setting to celebrate our anniversary, and we're already talking about when we can return.
