My wife and I have been going to G. I. Joe's Personal Training for around 8 months. We started with a Groupon for a few introductory sessions and have since renewed several times. Our initial goal was for us to look a little better before an upcoming beach vacation and we both noticed immediate results! After the vacation, we resumed our sessions three times a week and were excited by the continued progress we saw over the coming months. Joe and Chyna have both been very helpful and encouraging to help us accomplish our individual goals. They tailor the sessions for each of us and allow us to work on different techniques to focus on various muscle groups. After initially starting out our sessions in the afternoon after work, we switched to early mornings, which was not a problem. We thought our 5am work-outs would be early, but some people even work out earlier than that! Each week Joe and Chyna had something new to challenge us so that we never get bored doing the same exercises. The variation made each session more interesting as well as let us build on our previous routines. There are a variety of free weights, punching bags, weight machines, and other equipment that you get to use frequently. In addition to the exercises and weight lifting, Joe and Chyna reviewed our weekly meal logs and helped us make some better choices. They both genuinely care about you achieving your goals and guide you each session. Every day, although a challenge, was still enjoyable as they both are always fun to joke around with. I am a marathon runner, I run anywhere from 30 - 50 miles per week.  So why do I need a personal trainer?  I need balance, I need motivation to cross train, I need knowledge/expertise/direction on precision of form...   I realized that I am far to over trained on cardio and lack the strength and muscle development that comes from HIIT cardio (very different from long slow cardio!) and strength training.  So I started looking for a trainer and came across a way to reasonable Groupon offer from GI Joe, so nothing to lose right?!   One session in and I am hooked!  This is the guy that I need to drive me out of my routine, push me to be the better version that I am seeking, this is what I want.   Now hear that, I want it... I work with Chyna and I absolutely love it. I am always dripping in sweat when I leave and I've lost 10lbs in a month. Not only is she there to train you but she always helps with your eating habits as well. One of my favorite things is when I injured my knee she was able to continue working with me with exercises that would not hurt my knee. She also showed me exercises to strengthen my knee and I no longer have any knee problems. I've just started training here in the past couple weeks and I love it!! I had previously worked out in a smaller gym that held group classes but since I run a daycare and wanted as little exposure to coronavirus as possible I decided to check out some other places. I truly have a fitness goal and he makes sure I keep moving and pushing hard or "digging deep" I have lost 8 pounds with only 7 workouts with Joe. I was going for almost a year before they kept adding more and more clients making the experience no longer personal training, but more like a gym. I no longer got the one on one personal training that I had in the beginning and wasn't held accountable throughout the time I was there. GI Joe is a great motivator. I switched from 24 hour fitness to his workout program because it is affordable. The regimen is tough but engaging and fun. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. This was definitely a great experience. I purchased a Groupon for 10 sessions (1 hour each). I felt muscles shaking after the times I went. Unfortunately, I was only able to use 4 classes. I had a minor knee injury that is still healing but it happened a few days after my fourth session. I am super bummed because that's 6 classes that went unused. However, the team is great. I trained with Joe's other trainer, I had not had the chance to train with Joe directly. But she was great. I def recommend. read more

At 48, physically, I was just getting by. So, I purchased a 12 session Groupon to G.I. Joe's back in April - mainly for two reasons: (1.) I wanted to better my Physical Fitness Assessment for the Naval Reserves, and (2.) I wanted to get ready for the Sheriff's Academy starting in August. Well, after my Groupon ended, I purchased month-by-month sessions. I shaved 2 minutes off my 1.5 mile run and increased my Sit-ups and push-ups for the Navy. For the Sheriff's Physical Agility Test, I had the best times in all categories against all the other candidates; 6' solid wall climb, 6' chain-link fence climb, 165lb dummy drag, obstacle course, and 500 yard run (I was the oldest and they were in their 20's and 30's) Joe will get you results. He combines weight training with cardio and mixes up the routines so your body is always adapting. I never knew what to expect next from Joe's routines and I always left the gym feeling I've really accomplished something. Like I said, I am 48 and I am probably in the best shape I have been in since my Navy bootcamp days, over 30 years ago! All it took was 3 months with Joe. Joe's motto; "TRAIN HARD OR GO HOME" says it all. If you want to REALLY improve your physical fitness abilities, Joe will get you there. If you just want to be hang out at a gym and be a poser, go someplace else. Very friendly, understanding and careful with pre-existing conditions (mine is a neck with herniated discs). After physical therapy was completed from my injury I went to GI Joes. Both Joe and Chyna gave me a great workout that not only gave me the reconditioning I was looking for as a firefighter, but one that also made the remaining symptoms of my injury disappear for good. I'm so happy I joined the G.I Joe family! Everyone is super nice and welcoming. I have been training for about a month now and I love it! Chyna and Joe are not only awesome people but awesome trainers. They really care about helping you get fit. Every session is challenging. There's not a session that goes by that I don't feel like I put in the work. Not to mention the price is affordable. They want to to re sign so you can reach your fitness goals. I went to GI Joe a few weeks ago on a Bootcamp voucher. I was looking forward to professional training in a smaller setting. When I arrived Joe greeted me and then placed me on a treadmill for 15 minutes watching adultry shows on tv. He spent the 15 minutes having a discussion with another client about his personal computer issues. His language was very inappropriate with his use of the "F" word repeatedly in conversation. There were 2 guys and a couple of women in there so I was shocked that he felt that kind of language was appropriate. The training continued with me going out and running in an alley and jump roping in the runoff from the Pho shop next door. I don't know many ladies that would feel comfortable working out in an alley by themselves. We did some more circuit type training in which the language continued. I don't feel any man let alone a professional trainer should use that kind of language around women. Keep it professional and respect your clients. By the end of the hour he decided that it was appropriate to tell me a stripper story involving he and his buddies. I am a respectable woman and decided at that moment that I would not be returning for the rest of my voucher. I went home and told my husband about the experience since he has had over 15 years of professional training. He felt like I was disrespected and wrote a review. Joe called my cell phone last week to apologize to my husband. I asked if he would rather speak to me since I was the client, and his response was no I want to apologize to your husband since he wrote the review. That was just another level of disrespect. If he would only find the value in ackowledging that his behavior was inapropriate and apologizing we could have moved on. He then went and had the review removed since it was my husband writing about my experience. So ladies, I hope you take the time to read and think about this experience and determine if this is the type of gym you want to work out in. Regardless of the low voucher rate, it's not worth being disrespected by a man. I signed up for a 2 year membership at 24 hour fitness and prefer it much more than GI Joe. read more

Went for my first time yesterday, I know I was gonna work out hard. But I got my ass kicked! One of the best work outs I have had since I played water polo. Joe is very nice , funny and motivating. You are moving the entire hour .. starts you out with a warm up(which a lady on here complained about for some odd reason? I don't think he is gonna throw you into the wild fire right away) anyways ... He worked out everything. I am very sore today (: . Obsessed with this place. I've tried to get into a workout routine for years; joining yoga, gyms, trying to workout on my own. Nothing seemed to work for me and I just continued to feel sluggish and gain weight. I always thought about personal training, but knew I would never be able to afford it. I purchased a Groupon for 10 sessions with GI Joe training. Joe answered on the first call and scheduled me for my first session the following morning at 5am! I'm glad he had me go in so early because I knew if I didn't get up that early to train, then I would probably never commit to training. I just completed my 8th session and I feel amazing. I have trained with both Joe and Chyna and have enjoyed every minute. They really know how to kick your butt, and definitely make sure you do the reps correctly and that you don't cheat through them, (which is my biggest problem). I always get nervous when purchasing training things because I always feel pressured to purchase their memberships. NOT once has Joe or Chyna pressured me into purchasing more trainings with them. They have always treated me like one of their clients. Their prices are the most reasonable prices you are ever going to find, trust me, I've looked.
