My kids participate in the Competitive classes, and attend several of the other classes throughout the week, including parkour, and they absolutely love it. It's helping them develop the skills, attitude and team building for competitions at a national level, while also helping them build strength, agility, coordination, and overcoming their fears and boundaries. Our girls are consistently given appropriate, unique challenges that motivate them and improve their skills. They have both improved more in 1 year at Rio, than they did in total in 4 years at another local gym. The coaches have tons of gymnastics knowledge and experience and are all wonderfully supportive of all the gymnasts. This program is fun and challenging in a positive way. Now, that's the technical stuff, and it's all fantastic, but the best thing our girls have gotten out of the Rio program is the bond they have developed to other gymnasts, the sense of belonging in the gym, and the experience of being part of a TEAM. Any building can house a gym, but it takes very special people to make a team, and that's something we've found in the staff, gymnasts and families at Rio, that we haven't found anywhere else! Our girls are so proud to be a part of Team Rio. They both love the sport of gymnastics, but they are truly passionate about THEIR team.

The younger one enjoyed the warm up exercises, tumbling, walking forward and back on the low balance beam and swinging on the rings.. They played Duck, Duck, Goose to wrap up the class. My older one did warm up stretching exercises, and hanging on the horizontal bar, some tumbling, and then the high balance beam. She was in a class with students that had more experience, so she was eager to emulate what they were doing and watching the older much advanced girls doing the floor exercises. Friday nights will never be the same and we will listen all week, to how many days it will be until the next gymnastics class.
