They are well priced, and they offer a huge variety of classes... I have been going to yoga almost every day and I have found the instructors to be experienced and highly competent. I mostly run in the ABQ Bosque during the spring and fall, so I haven't really needed to use their treadmills much but I expect that will change in the winter. On the few occasions when I have needed to use them because it was cold, or I haven't had time to get down to the river, there have been plenty of machines and no wait times. This is obviously an operation that does well at scale. One of the best gyms I have used in my life.

Over the past decade, I've graciously bled pools of sweat in gyms all over this metro, from CrossFit barns to bootcamp-style conditioning, most recently completing about 18 months at Orangetheory, where I sustained several minor and debilitating injuries. I gave it my all, spent a pretty penny on physical therapy, and finally decided to ditch the treadmill for spin classes. But Spenga's much more than a spin scene. You do 20 minutes on a bike, 20 more on the floor (free weights, kettlebell, TRX, BOSU), and 20 minutes of yoga. Originally, I definitely had reservations, but now that I'm about two months in, I can emphatically state the following: * I burn 700-900 calories per class * The yoga is super good for me * The music's pretty good (better than OTF) * It's more affordable than OTF * The instructors are polished and personable * The facility is spacious and clean * I'm injury free From a community standpoint, this place is more of a drop-in-get-it-done-and-leave kinda situation, which is great with me, but if you're more motivated by a gym full of besties, look elsewhere. I'll note they could get better at correcting form, and I would appreciate more class options, but I've never lost a penny from a late cancellation (there's no need to reserve ahead of time) and I could be wrong, but I think I'm actually seeing the results of these workouts. Had I liked my session tonight, I had planned on working out a schedule with my caregiver and partner so I could workout here a few times a week and purchasing a monthly package. I guess I won't be doing that now. I had actually signed up for here before they opened that's how excited I was for this place but then I was pregnant and put on restriction. I stayed patient and contacted multiple members asking if they planned on turning down the lighting.. with no solid answer I contacted the Genereal manager named Sami. Sami proceeded to tell me its not that bad and that the elderly couldn't see the machines and that they were out of code. I waited a couple of weeks and gave a call to the front desk and again spoke with the GM sami.. He proceeded to say yeah whatever take it or leave it. I asked for his boss which he proceeded to say, " I am the boss and can do whatever I want". He hung up.. I contacted corporate and spoke with a Carlos the district manager who hung up on me multiple times due to me recording the call.. He called back multiple times and then decided to treat me like I was on trail. Siting " multiple incidents" where I guess I was using strong language when making complaints.. This never happened. He offered the only resolve was to cancel both my membership and my family members membership. Defined Fitness is not only an old gym that thinks their too big to fail but needs to be very careful of having a GM and DM that think they can do whatever they want. I felt very threatened by the both of them.. I am now canceled out but have a couple weeks left in my membership. I visited a different location and a normally very friendly manager named Chloe i believed looked at me like she hated me... Be careful with these people if you join.. They will track and keep notes on you. Their facilities are old and falling apart.. Join a better, cleaner, and more updated gym for your money.. Will never be back.

My wife (as the primary account holder) has attempted to do this several times over the last two months. She followed the suggested steps but apparently was not taken seriously as she is female. BEWARE! This company will NEVER stop charging your card and will NOT give you a way to cancel a membership. Looking forward to a phone call from the manager. We'll see if that actually happens.

So, I (sort of reluctantly) used my workplace perks to get a fitness membership as a step to enable me to stay healthy. I like this gym because they have many different locations that you can go to within ABQ. There are also many different things that you can do at a gym, by they volleyball, swimming, squash, swimming, instructor-led classes, weight/strength training..and hot tub & sauna, etc. I particularly like that the gym is clean, never seemed to be so crowded at all. I've gone there during weekdays and/or weekends...and while weekends there seemed to be more people...there were plenty of room to choose and do your own exercise (partly because the membership here is slightly more expensive, too). Enjoy it a lot and excited to have my own peace exercising without judgement/crowd that usually turn me away from those establishments. Look forward to frequenting this place more often.

I returned home and received an email from iron soul stating that my membership had been cancelled because I was "staring at female members and making them feel uncomfortable". I had no idea what they were talking about and racked my brain as to how something I did could be labeled as excess staring . I called and left a message for an explanation and right to defend myself, I emailed back and asked how they could kick me out without speaking to me on the matter based on someone's subjective opinion of what my eyes where doing. They did not answer my calls during business hours and did not respond to my email as of yet. They labeled me guilty without the decency of giving me a combat veteran and first responder the right to defend myself against accusations on my character. This is such a disappointment because I loved the training there so much However if this is how they do business and I feel that I have to walk on eggshells and look at the ground in order to not inadvertently offend someone there than I rather not be a part of that gym. Hope you have a better experience than I did however another former member I know was telling me something similar happened to him so I'm not crazy.
